It's really fast, that's a huge advantage. You can get in and out in seconds, so grinding scav exp or just using scavs to farm high-end keys is often done in factory. If most of your money is made from PMC runs, scavving factory can be great to burn scavs fast. Or, like others pointed out, PvP is factory's thing
There's just a massive scarcity of loot to find on the map, it's not that there's great loot but super risky, it's that there's no loot at all

there is no way to use a map that shows your location in game, you just have to learn the map and figure out where you are from landmarks but you can use that site to get an idea, and use an ingame compass. Play in offline mode to learn maps
