You definetly don't "need" to become a Sherpa to help people, you can do that in here or in the Sherpa hub through LFG / LFH channel's too, or any tarkov discord to be fair. A sherpa will provide a session with high standards and structure though.

There's a minimal requirement of sessions, you don't want people to apply for sherpa and then do nothing because they have the green name. That would be become a sherpa for the wrong reasons. If you like helping players with tarkov, the min. requirement isn't a problem in my opinion at all. I also don't see it as a struggle.

There's not really a "best" scope - I would recommend trying to use the same scope (and same gun, if possible) more often, because you get a feel for the bullet drop / aiming height etcetera on longer distance shots.

There is the ballistics chart on the wiki you could use for your ammo choice. Basically you will want ammo that has a 5 or a 6 in the tier 4 armor category if you can find it. The higher your rate of fire, the less penetration you 'need' for ammo to be viable
