You can do that trade I think at level 2, or 3 of rep, @fierce kite but the better one to do earlier thats cheaper and just as good (In some ways better) is for 'documents case' it also allows you to store keys, flash drives, money, key cards other things.

if you have an AR\DMR without a scope, youd hold to get a better shot
if you have an AR\DMR with a good scope, youd back up and try to get angles on his eventual egress points.
Same situation, played differently to your weapons advantage.

you cant sell a game for $150 or whatever so they give 'Standard' but its legit not the way to play IMHO.
there are list out there for items you need for quest, id find one and work from there.

iirc, no. You gain karma if they have killed another scav though. Being shot (and hit) simply allows you to defend yourself without losing karma
