So here is the real trick...
Each gun is calibrated to a specific ammunition. Meaning that the sights will be accurate to THAT one ammo.
To find that ammo put the bullet in the chamber and IF the muzzle velocity does NOT change that is the default ammo.
So compare that muzzle velocity with the muzzle velocity of the ammo you want to use.
If the ammo you are using is faster, it will hit high. if the ammo you are using is slower it will hit low

It is possible to calculate that based on the percentage of change in velocities. But in practice, just be aware of that and practice.

Also if you know what you are doing the mil dots on the sights can be used to estimate range. BUT they are not to proper scale, so use as in real life and then there is a correction factor involved. I do not know how to do that craop thoguh.
The PSO scopes do have range finders that works as intended to estimate range.

IF you want to use rigs to save space, make it useful. Fill the rigs with mags, ammo, pistol grip, nades, meeds, etc... That you will actually be using in raid. Then you can just equip your rig, laod and assemble your gun and you are ready to go.

Approching power you check if power is on. If power is on low chance of PMCs, unless JUST turned on.
if power is off, stop and observe power. if scavs in area VERY low chance of PMCs there. If power is off nad no scavs, be on high alert for PMCs

I have been ambushed and killed people at medium ranges simply by shooting at their muzzle flashes and never seeing them.
