Don’t overuse flea. Level the traders. They will sell you better stuff as you level them often for less than the price on flea. Armor will be new vs. damaged. Flea is players selling to players to make a profit. Taking advantage of those who cannot buy the same items from traders. To level traders you need to so a specified amount of transactions “spent” with them plus level character and trader reputation. Check prices for tech/hardware on Flea vs. therapist and sell to therapist if it’s close. Weapons break down and sell to Skier then rest to Mechanic. Maybe check flea price for suppressors and some higher end optics vs. Skier price but don’t waste time selling basic weapon on flea.

@trim herald to be fair the map that everyone points to and uses for Interchange is not great. And it's not necessarily because the person that made it did a poor job. But it doesnt capture all of the detail. It is very difficult to find the stairs. The spawns are not marked (Pestily does a good job of speaking to this though.) And the nature of the place makes it difficult. I would love to see someone do something a little more 3D ish given the multiple levels.
But yes, just some simple practice fixes all of that.

@trim herald thats interesting. I have only experienced two maps, customs and IC. Customs is a map that has helped me learn. It's clear, its well marked. But of course the scope is totally different and it's not multiple levels. I have not had much success in using the IC map to learn. Of course I am learning by doing. So in the end all is well.

One of the very toughest crushing parts to me is NOT the dying. I do that in every videogame; I am used to it. The toughest part is the vicious cycle. I need loot, to make money, to finish quests, but I can't get it out. I can't get any experience unless I run online, but I can't because I am grinding through gear too fast. So being stuck below level 5 at the mercy of Traders is the soul crushing part.

Good talk about maps. I made a goal, I am gonna spend some time offline in IC (rather than just doing scav runs.) I will say that the tip to do my scav runs on IC while running customs offline by @waxen forge was primo because it has helped me learn 2 maps at the same time, and adds that variety. Also it is so much easier I think. I get out on scav runs more often on IC than customs.

Experience. It will require persistence and commitment. You need to learn maps, scav behavior, PMC behavior, what is good vs. bad ammo. Practice OFFLINE mode, with scavs on, at Customs. Try to make it from spawn to exit 10 times. IF you can do this 50% of the time then you are ready for online. Meanwhile use your scav at Interchange to get loot and learn the map.

We are giving advice for how to play EFT. You are saying you don't like big maps and don't like getting sniped from a distance. Big maps are unavoidable if you play anything but factory. Getting sniped requires you to know where to look for the snipers and to know how players and scavs move throughout the map. To learn that you have to play.

@stiff mortar I have really improved by using offline mode. You can run around a bit more because you know where the guys should be, and you don't have to fear losing a thing. I know people say don't load up because you won't have that gear when you actually go out, but certainly you can load up on ammo and meds and just practice firefighting and healing. I'm pretty cruddy with my gunplay but it gives me a bit more confidence to move when I'm actually online mode.

@stiff mortar yes this is theoretically true but after I go through several firefights I might exhaust what I've brought. In offline mode I try to get into battles so I typically take down 7 or more scavs. The real tricky one is the meds because they are hard to loot from the offline scavs
