Thanks for the reminder. I try, and I do have fun! It is just really frustrating the days when all my raids a day end up with a bullet or nade out of the blue with no chance to even fight back. But tarkov is tarkov. It is a reason i turn to it. The other shooters give me nothing anymore. They are like bland, tasteless food in comparison.

ill try to list a few lesser known facts

spinning in place causes noise. sliding to a stop creates great noise. opening or messing with any of your equipment creates noise. the slowest walk crouching or standing is not silent. if you sneak you loose peekers advantage. if you sneak when youre in pvp you will likely lose

its better to walk at 1-50% to be sneaky, as just suppressing your audio to reposition can be enough

youll get voip banned but yeah

stepping on glass is bad. hitting bushes and trees is bad. walking on snow is bad. walking on metal is bad

any of that stuff happens might as well stop sneaking

elite covert movement changes that bit but thats a ways away

also your perception stat impacts your hearing ability

so a high level pmc with elite perception can hear you something like 30% better and farther away than a fresh pmc will

this is actually a huge factor btw

so youre right about that, you need to catch up to stuff like that

but luckily you dont need the same amount of raids for good knowledge, if you actively try to learn

do a trial run in offline mode before a real raid for any task you might need to do

that way you already have a mental concept of where you need to go and what needs to be done

this is human psychology but people are typically too lazy to do so

but that will boost your learning rate by about 2x

compared to just going in, making it 30% of the way, and dying.

any map you want to learn, go into offline mode and go to all the extractions, know what they look like how to get there and ect

thats one of the BIGGEST parts of any new map, if you know how to extract youll surive a LOT more.

cant really learn map rotation timings offline unfortunately, thats more of a FAFO type experience

for example as a new player on interchange u want to thinjk

how do the raids usually play out? well

minutes 1-10 people rush in or hide, 10-20 people rotate to outside camps or reach hotspots. minutes 20-30 they fight hotspots, maybe they have to run to turn on power. as they loot med room theylll ikely check pharmacist in IDEA too

and after 25ish to 30 theyre extracting. just a rough example

so youd want to time your task or whatever around the common flows of the map

and ur extraction

u want to time ur extraction to not be at the same time as everyone else too

listening to gunshots can give u info on whats happening too

if u hear gunshots at texho at 15 minutes then stage 20-30min is already happening

meaning 20-25 will likely be extraction for them if they dont die

I try to do my raids shorter to run not in sync with other players. But in customs that is failing

one of my most successful wipes was when i focused on keeping my time in raid to 15 minutes or less

But it is so many variables in a raid, like there is multiple players, with their own ideas and plans. I dont understand how It can be predicated. But again I used to play high level Apex legends back in the day, I am talking 20+ kill games, and rotations where a huge part of it. Not easy to explain why, but you just slowly build a gut-feeling you learn to trust. I assume it is the same for tarkov in a way.

well, i can explain a bit.

youre right its not completely predictable, thats something to always be factored in

however because of how the tasks, loot spots and hotspots(keys) are placed, it becomes slightly predictable because most people will have a shared objective.

once you run through all the tasks before, you know where people need to go for them. you know where they want to go for keys, and you realize most the map is just for looting rats and transitions to the hotspots

you know where they spawn, so you can predict how many youll face by transiting to your objective.

for example, say i want to rush computer room in IDEA. I spawn by railroad extract

so i have 1 pmc on my side of the map, left and right. and thats mirrored on emercom side

however since i spawned slightly closer, i will at most encounter 3 possible pmc encounters

my 2 spawns, and 1 spawn on their side that goes for my objective

so with that knowlege, if i pop a stim and rush i am nearly guaranteed to be first to the room

if i make it first uncontested, i know that within 1-5 minutes the other side of the map can reach me.

so i could set up a 5 minute ambush and if nothing happens rotate out, or run away

now its 15 minutes into the raid and i can leave, or rotate. now the map is more open and unpredictable

so that would be the time to sneak. if you want pvp you would sneak up on hotspots, as theyre likely to be there

so its a mix of knowledge, locations and adaptability

also a small note to that. higher your str/endurance are the stronger u are. the faster u can reach locations and set up the greater advantage u have

if it takes timmy twice as long to reach the same spot he will always have a disadvantage in inititative

Thanks for the writeup. It makes sense due to the static spawns and objective hot spots. The game would change a bit if they changed to true random spawns I assume. So for a timmy like me, I should just use the first 5-10 mins listening for players?

to stick with interchange as an example, a common tactic to survive more is to wait 5-10 minutes to let everyone rush in, and then you rush in yourself. its pretty safe.

if you tried that on reserve youd die within 5 minutess if somebody glances at ur spawn

but depending on where, theres usually great environmental cover and a high chance of somebody rotating into YOU, letting you kill them easily

say you spawn bottom left outskirts by the big rock

the outskirts guy by the lake might run into you, or the guy by zb-11 might move down to scav house for scav kills

youd be in position to ambush both, its not a bad play

but say u wait for 10 minutes at outskirts, a guy coukld set up on sniper rocks in dead mans field

so youd be locked into outskirts until he leaves, or die, or he misses

you seem to have a good understanding though of the flow on woods, im not saying ur wrong

jhust every map is diff and its random what ppl do moreso for woods than interchange

So how do you learn what other people do in raids from spawn? I would love to see some kind of demo of each game with birds eye view and the ability to spec each player after the raid ended. Also, I see pmc spawns on the online maps. Is there some rule to distance between them? For example say I spawn as a solo on the delivery from the past side of customs. How likely is it for other players to spawn on my side? Will the likelihood be much lower if I spawn there as a trio?

youre moving too fast for ur skill level then

something to consider, you have to move at a pace that allows u to process things

try this: move, set up in a cover position, listen for 15 seconds, move, repeat

i do that a lot. you need time to get audio information.

that is actually the most optimal way to play this game, you level up skills and pmc faster. 1 raid at normal pace is 45 minutes. 3 raids at 15 minutes is 3x the PMC stat EXP

Tried the 15 min thing today on streets, Grim. Survived 1 out of 5 raids 😅 learned some valuable lessons on spawns tho. But my last death i struggle to understand where i died from. I probably should not have walked, there, but I just walked for like 20 ft. ( there is two deaths in the clip)

aiming and shooting should be a smooth 1 second process, you should ads, instantly on their head, and pull the trigger

you can practice this with trees. you mightve seen streamers do this

look at a tree, judge the aimpoint, scope in, did you get it? un ads, switch to a tree, aimpoint, ect repeat

your aimpoint should end up where you were looking on the tree atleat 80% of the time

those minor adjustments will get you killed as combat in this game when its straight up is miliseconds, another example of this is crosshair placement

which feeds into this mechanoc

just a simple aimdrill. you do the same stuff in aimlabs, kovaaks ect

one drill i used to do was go into offline factory high scav spawns or horde (which is crazy) and bring an m4 with 20+ mags on single fire and kill every bot with pointfire headshots

this will make your aimpoint be second nature to you and you can easily progress to scoping in precisely on the head

ofc not many people take this game that seriously, so do with that what you will. i found it fun and relaxing, its a good warm up before a first raid too.

also you dont want to kill every scav if you can help it (my opinion) if youre trying to stay alive

scavs are a fence around your area, and can be utilized to your advantage

most of the time i will simply manipulate scav ai to avoid fighting them, remember their location and listen for gunshots or their death to know about pmcs

they have superior to human vision and will voiceline typically when they detect a player

they are a waste of ammo and looting them is the second riskiest thing you can do, i never bother

Thats a cool idea really. I mean i use Tarkov as a way to wind down after a long day work and family stuff, so when the kids are sleeping I get an hour or two tops. This factory scav horde in offline seems like a chill thing to do a few times.

youre unknowingly making your life a lot harder doing homeless man tier pulls of loot off factory

you shouldnt save anything, and just find it again when you need it

things are very easy to find and the stuff that isnt you probably dont have any of them

reserve is a good scav map, tied with interchange. you can make about equal money on both but interchange takes longer to extract and is more popular so you might have a emptyloot raid

factory is only good for fking over the last pmc in the raid, dying, or extracting as fast as possible for the most efficient painless way to get scav rep up

people with high scav rep will do factory so they spawn with a keycard or whatever and exit and it takes like 1 minute a scav run

So far GZ is the only map that I know well in detail but it’s not superb for money run tbh. Interchange has treated me better

you should get familiar with everything

its just about how much you can tolerate looking around

most people are too lazy to even do the extract part, so the more you do the better

if you want an objective, look up your quest you have to do and do an offline dry run. youll be grateful for that

id say doing a dry run before a quest offline would make you 70% more likely to complete it in the next raid, if you dont get shot
