Once you have done the Quest Supplier with Skier you get friend from the West part 1, after this quest skier wants 6k 5k USD from you to forward you to his western Friend with Quests and gear, which is peacekeeper. So the Friend from the West taskline with skier, unlocks Peacekeeper Questlines to be able to level him.

the 20000 Dollar for the mainquests are in order to get told the Pathway to lighthouse, so you can start on lighthouse, without this payment you always have to transit there

It's a lot more comfortable for new players to run a rifle/smg where they can get a lot of good follow up shots. If you miss with the mosin or if they are wearing decent armor you are cooked. In CQB you can get cooked easily as well. But if its your playstyle to run mosin or sks and you do well then thats good for you. Its better I think for people to learn good habits with rifles/smg for fights. You can also leg people easily with smgs/rifles if they are wearing heavy armor

It's solid armor, but the more you play the more common "decent armor" gets, and if you're doing a pacifist run then run it and enjoy your time using it.

Break the gear fear early, and youll enjoy your time in game more quickly

To give some context to leg meta, its from an older damage patch that once a limb was blacked, if you took 1 point more damage you died, so we all aimed at legs and kneecapped each other. The intensity of the meta is obviously gone, but flesh ammo + legs = slow moving target that is easier to kill

Best advice is just use it. Money will come and go. A scab run can replace it's worth easily. The game is far more fun when you start using the good gear you have. If you get shit out of nowhere and lose it, you'll get another soon. Bringing better gear generally does increase the chances of survival
