Hello! I’m new. ~40 hours. Ive been playing Ground Zero and Woods. What other maps should I start learning? Or should I continue to focus on those two?

Just focus on trying to get through early game tasks, learning extracts along the way and getting familiar with the gameplay overall, it doesn't matter what map you pick to learn they all have their pros/cons. But if you have a favorite it helps to learn 1 so that you know a good loot run for scavving

ground zero has the most basic tasks, customs comes next, woods third, then eventually interchange tasks.

@main shadow this is helpful. It seems like customs is the next map to pick up. I did a run there yesterday and managed to extract. It seems like a fairly straight forward map. Focusing on hideout is tricky because I don’t really know where certain loot spawns. So my stash is just filling up with hideout stuff, but I’m missing one or two things for most of my upgrade. That and also money!!! I’m having a hard time making money. My biggest struggle atm.

people can drop you 1 of most barter items, focus on toolboxes for hideout. woods scav is great, i do factory scav in n out and hit the big wooden box crates since theyre technical (tool) spawns. for money, reduce your costs if u can, transfer money from arena if u have it; and focus on running gear u find instead of buying it. figure out whats valuable and stuff ur pouch or secured container. always keep it filled. dont bring a knife so u can pick em up off scavs. look at barters too to save

They do spawn in the large wooden crates, I found mine on reserve in 1 this wipe I'm like 90% sure they spawn in toolboxes as well. Reserve has a lot of these tech/tool items and alot of boxes

Always have a map up of where you are playing, as soon as you spawn, you need to find a marker on your character and on the map to figure out what side of map you are on, then look at what extracts your character has and figure out what direction you need to go and continuously pay attention to buildings or landmarks as you move

Wherever you figure out you spawn you should always look at where the next nearest spawn is because that is where your first fight is going to come from

Also, take magazine and pistol grips off of any of your rifles, it will save space, then you put the magazines and attachments into your rigs

if you prefer to not risk losing stuff on pvp....PVE will give practice learning how to move around the map. I don't think it will help with PLAYER fights, since players will do some out of the box stuff. They'll also camp/rat at angles and areas the AI wouldn't. If you have arena fighting players there will help transission better into fighting in PVP

the AI in PVE becomes predictable

in arena I mean

in PVP you may get into a fight when you low on hunger and hydration. or you may get into fight while your heavy carryiing loot. In which case I recommend dropping you bag somewhere preferable in cover

otherwise the weight wll drain your stamina and the inertia from the weight wiill also mess up your movement

w/e you do dont try to run while carrying 50kg of weight....unless you got the stims to help counter that

you need that to access labs. Labs has the highest concentration of high value loot of any map and has a lot of gimmicky extracts plus the AI enemies are very turned up and have decent guns.

i wouldnt go there until you have keycards for any of the special rooms. Theres Red, Violet, Black, Green, Blue, Yellow and blue marking card they look like in the screenshot below

Been a while since i last played tarkov, picked it up again last wipe. What exactly is the purpose of this? I've kept notes on the last few ammo types i died from to other pmc's and they're all just straight up meta ammo. 12/70 flechette, 2x 7.62 PP, 5.45 BP, 2x 5.45 BT, M855A1, with the only exception being devastator slugs. I've obviously not been able to eliminate them in return, and the 'damage to armor' just flies through the roof most of the time.

How on earth am i supposed to deal with this? I've never been particularly good at the game, but i could at least compete through some succesful raids and get some moderately decent equipment from flea. I have no idea what to do other than camping out a raid in a corner and wait for the timer to drop so most other players will have either left or are replaced as scavs...

Get into Water treatment plant without shooting Rogues
then kill them one by one from behind

I find myself dying a lot outside of combat, meaning I walk/run around and suddenly get shot from a nearby camper or someone who noticed me.
anyone got some advice on how to make it happen less often? I try running from cover to cover, always hiding myself between trees and buildings etc, but I just keep dying suddenly and idk what I'm doing wrong.

So there’s a small window before the area where the sniper shoots at you that says flare zone or something like that. It’s a really small quick message at the bottom of your screen. You have to fire the flare up in that zone and I usually wait till I see the flare burning before moving.

Don't aim straight up, the flare will shoot higher up than your aim. Someone said like a little higher than 45 degrees up and make sure it's over the path you go down for extract. And stand in the "flare zone".

Run a few practice raids on GZ to get the hang of it since that map is so small it shouldn't take long

To be honest with you, you should not be using the games compass, it's badly designed and gets you killed more than it helps.

Yeah in theory it's good, the game just doesn't implement it well, and it's 90% of the time better to just orient yourself off of the nearest landmark

It is, you need to identify sniper mountain, ik it seems extremely hard at first ( because woods is hardest to learn by yourself) but as soon as you figure out that landmark you can navigate anywhere

What aim bottle said. Look for the tallest pile of rocks (not the mountain in the far distance) and that'll help you learn the location. From there its understanding spawns and eventually you might not need to find sniper rock

The issue with the compass is that it puts your gun away, and not having your gun ready at all times in tarkov leads to deaths

That's a tough question because it depends on the scope, gun, the ammo you're using at the given time, they all have variables that play into effect. Zeroing will be your best option, unless you consistently run the same kit same ammo type etc

That kedr b youre using is a pretty decent weapon, though doesnt penetrate armor. against armored targets you can dump it into their legs to kill them quicker than shooting torso.
When ot comes to weapon choice its mostly dependent on what ammo you have currently available. All lvl 1 trader ammo sucks (low penetration) so if you happen to sudeenly get into posesion of decent ammo any gun that shoots that ammo is suddenly a good gun for you.
I can recomend and underrated pick for lvl 1 traders, that being the vpo-209 that semiauto ak that shoots the weird .366 cartrige. From jager 1 you can buy tkm fmj ammo for it which has slightly higher penetration than many other bullets at this stage at 23 pen and is baisically the only weapon you can buy a supressor for at lvl 1 at skier. Just make sure to not mix up 762x39 ammo into the mags as it also fits but wont fire

It also 1 shots to the chest any unarmored target cause if its high damage so pretty good for killing scavs

most of it comes down to bullets. All the SMGs arent gonna be very good until you get at least PST ammo. Just make sure to shoot for the face which you did well there. Also remove crosshair X its sooo inaccurate for where the bullets are actually going especially if you are switching your gun back and forth from shoulder to shoulder
