Leave one of the two guns and the knife in your stash, just extra weight you aren't going to use anyway and slots you can fill with looted weapons and knives to sell.
Bring a tourniquet and a bandage hotkeyed in your pockets and a stack of spare ammo, preferably in your container.
I'd bring a bag and a balaclava for camo but you can loot those in raid too.

-If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing/Practice Mode while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money. Practice mode is great for learning maps, learning loot runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses, and other core mechanics like hipfire. It's literally impossible to lose any money doing this, so it just stacks up while you learn a lot
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep track of which routes actually work and which are reliably dangerous.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, map knowledge is critical. Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat
-The first 5-7 minutes are the most dangerous. Don’t try to push for a task or cross the map too early. Hunker down or loot near your spawn, and let things get a little more predictable.
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - double click on the rounds to see the values.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, recording them and watching them back really helps improve
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

I went through that as well, just insure it if you care about it and assume you'll lose it. Use it before you die to build mastery and get EXP

scav runs are more than lucrative enough to be able to buy back anything you lose that doesn't come back from insurance as well.

The things I look for when extracting with found items is can I pull off a key attachment that I can't buy at level 1, stuff like specific optics I like or suppressors/mags that I can't get

learning the maps is my suggestion. Focus on Ground Zero first and learn routes to the extraction points and hot spots

you'll need this info to do most tasks anyway

for instance, find the science room and vehicle extract and know how to get there from most spawns if you can

how do i throw myself into a game? i have money (arena) so loot isnt a problem, i have everything i need in case i die but i still spend more time in my stash doing gunsmith and modding weapons or playing scav instead of playing pmc and progressing through quests (currently on prapors wine in GZ, lvl 25) i have 44 scav runs but only 11 pmc raids (5 survived, 2 RT, 3 KIA, 1 AWOL cos of a bug) i have multiple headsets, backpacks, armor, meds etc. to last me through 5 or so raids if i were to die every time w/o insurance, yet im still scared to press play. any tips on that?

Yea this happens, it's paralyzing
You literally just have to keep playing. Having a duo REALLY helps. The anxiety sucks, just press through it. If you play enough arena you'll get enough money and you'll get good enough at combat that you don't care anymore.

but yea, best remedy to gear fear is have a teammate

if you've already gotten good enough at arena/any map to go back to it for money

but arena and tarkov are 2 things. i have over 2k hrs probably across multiple fps' so im not bad at the shooting part, im bad at everything else. if i get shot first i get jumpscared, i dont know how my enemies position especially in woods to get jaeger. ive gotten 6 kills on GZ most of which were me jumping/ratting on duos who didnt even see me

Yes arena and tarkov are two very different things
Anxiety on tarkov comes a lot from not knowing the maps, now knowing where people are coming from.
You just have to play the maps a LOT to get this down. Don't jump from map to map. Stick to one. Learn the flow. Anxiety will vanish

my trick for playing solo is to go into raid & play it with the mindset to “play for your life”, to not throw yourself at fights or into bad situations and just try to get out with some good loot. eventually you’ll get some good raids, learn the flow of maps, and feel more comfortable playing the game
