its always easiest in my opinion to scav maps first a few times and pull up a map on a second monitor or phone so you kinda know where the main buildings or streets are

i craft selewas and use cheese for quick heals

so i bind a cheese as 4, bandage as 5, and selewa as 6

cheese is fastest heal in game so i like using those in combat. selewa/afak/ifak only after a fights over

so i either use all of the cheese or die usually. the selewas usually last me a few raids

Any reccomendations as to what level 4 armor can be used relatively early? I'm currently lvl 20 but there really are no options for lvl 4 armor and ragman 3 only comes at lvl 32.

Farming scav armors is one way, and just taking plates/armors from your player kills. One trick if you get an armor with class 4 in it you can swap the back plate to a class 3 and use the class 4 plate in a difrent armor as a front plate

Rogues often have decent armor too

-If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing/Practice Mode while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money. Practice mode is great for learning maps, learning loot runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses, and other core mechanics like hipfire. It's literally impossible to lose any money doing this, so it just stacks up while you learn a lot
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep track of which routes actually work and which are reliably dangerous.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, map knowledge is critical. Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat
-The first 5-7 minutes are the most dangerous. Don’t try to push for a task or cross the map too early. Hunker down or loot near your spawn, and let things get a little more predictable.
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - double click on the rounds to see the values.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, recording them and watching them back really helps improve
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

So I just started playing earlier this morning. I am still a bit confused. Does the standing with SCAVS actually play a part in something I do? It seems like every time I play I am forced to kill them bc they shoot at me first... Also how do you just tell the difference in the factions while in game? Also how do you know what part of the map you spawn in vs where the exfil sites are? I feel like no matter what direction I run in I am never right.

From what i've learned, if you're playing as a scav, then they won't shoot you unless you shoot at them first, then if you kill them, your cooldown time before you can play scav again increases. Not sure where to check the "Scav Karma" as it's called, but yeah it's hard af to tell who's a scav, bear, or pmc. If you're on PVE, bears speak russian, have russian guns, and often have a bear hat or something. PMC's use american guns, speak english, and scavs tend to be wearing dumb masks and things. Check out tarkov-market.com, they have maps with exfil sites. typically the exfils that are close to where you spawn in are not an option for you, since they want you to run through the map to get to exfil instead of spawning in and leaving after getting a few things nearby.

If anyone is excperiencing slowness in vendors or post raid loading screen, using a VPN seems to have fixed the issue. I guess it is related to the russian IP ban somehow, even if you are not phisically in russia.
