I don't think it happened here but there is a known bug with bosses who sometimes shoot three bullets at once (most notably schturman, some players have even managed to screenshot a triangle of tracers flying towards their face).

flesh damage ammo, lots of it and heavy bleed stoppers. Get on top of something where they can't walk like a car.
Grenades sometimes work when they pile up but they tend to move a fair bit so sucess isnt guaranteed.
Loud guns attract more but they'll come either way, try teaming up to improve your survival chances.
Event's almost over anyway so don't worry too much about it.

Level 1 traders doesn't have much in the way of long range scopes available iirc. PSO scope on a claw mount (eg AK 74M) is probably your best shot but once you have flea there are a lot of budget optics available.
