Generaly speaking most people you'll run into as a scav will be scavs (90% or so), generaly it's better not to pull the trigger as a scav at all unless you're 100% certain. Scavs will generaly voice line and not be shooting at stuff unless a PMC or traitor scav is nearby while PMC's tend to be silent as to not give away their position with a shoot on sight policy.

In your place I'd start off scaving on factory, loot is generaly bad but most pmc's fight die and extract from the map in the first five minutes and will have cleared out by the time you get in. The map is small enough to get the hang of it pretty fast.
I'd bookmark mapgenie and the wiki, it'd probably help a lot

PvE mode looks great as idea but still not a great implementation, long matching times which make you waste your time, PMC IA are shit, breaks early progression which can make a bit boring early (giving junk box, ammo box, weapon box, extra stash slots), that's only for 250 frikin $.

I think is about server infraestructure, since scavs and PMC are IA like PvP (servers), matching is waiting a worker that runs a little server for you to run the game, and they have a probabbly poor workers optimization, since 1 worker 1 player, in pvp 1 worker is for several players

Past 22:00 is considered night-time in Tarkov, this matters mainly for quests.
"Becoming dark" is different thing, sometimes by 22:00 it is dark and NVGs help, other times the moon stays out for a while making it very easy to see without NVGs

Some night-time raids I can see perfectly fine because the moon illuminates everything

Others it's pitch-black and raining and NVGs are very useful
