Be aggressive

A great piece of PvP advice for you: Tarkov has a mental aspect to getting into gun fights. Representing a stronger position/kit/skill than you actually have can put you at an advantage. Instead of turtling up and not returning a bunch of rounds, move around a lot, keep putting burst of ammo down range

Keep the enemies on their backfoot

When you turtle, youve already conceded to the enemy

If I sense that youre scared

I will capitalize on it

(I being the player youre fighting)

and just shoot in an enemy's general direction

you dont even need to be aiming... but suppressing fire is a part of the mind game too

Number 1 thing that'll help you progress as a new Tarkov player is remembering where loot spawns

Seems dumb, but going broke is your biggest problem as a new player, but if youre remembering where loot is, you always know how to make money... All you need is a bag and/or rig and a pump shotgun and you can go make money

PvP practice comes with time and as you level, because questing forces you into more PvP focused areas of the maps anyways

Check everything using https://tarkov-market.com/ and the info it provides for quest/hideout/barter/crafting requirements and for flea prices. Then you can decide what things you'll need soon enough to hold onto.

For example, if you were checking 'Bolts' you would type it in and see this screen. You could then decide if any of those quests or hideout upgrades are close enough to save for. If you want to sell, whether the traders or flea are better

I swear to god, I hate setup. This quest is giving me a shotgun phobia. How can it be that in any fight an assault rifle wins against a shotgun at close range? The math isn't mathing. How can it be that someone eats eight shells of Piranha and then has enough life left to spray me down with an AKs?

I think I need a break. I just wasted one and a half mil rubles on nothing but shotguns, Ushankas and Scav vests, and I didn't get a single kill.

I shoot a PMC with a shotgun eight times, he doesn't drop even though he's only wearing a Paca. A scav shoots me with a shotgun once and drops me, even though I am wearing a lvl5 armored rig.

Been there man, i feel exactly the same about shottys. Just dont do it. Some find it easy but you really dont need to do it. I havent even tried it this wipe but got enough rep for max traders with everyone

If you don't care for the bragging rights you can do multiple things with them such as barters that require dogtags (for example you can barter dogtags for an RSASS you need for gunsmith) or displaying in your hideout display case. Once you have flea you can buy a dogtags case and feel satisfied by the sight of it slowly filling up with bragging rights

try to learn the major landmarks and use them to orient yourself. Sniper Rock is the big one, visible from pretty much anywhere on the map. Once you get a feel for what scav town/sunken/the sawmills/usec/med look like, it'll be a lot easier to navigate. Take advantage of vehicle extract, as woods extracts can be pretty limiting.

It requires 5k roubles in your inventory (depending on scav rep), is quite exposed and takes a minute, if noone has taken it before you.
If it's available go for it but remember to be carefull.
