He has a whole video of different weapons you can make at level 1 that are all good.

"Kit" wise early on your best helmet is the "penis helmet" because it has high ricochet chance. I think ragman sells it, but it might be Jaeger lvl 1. It's SSH or something idr the name. Big green bowl helmet.

Vest+backpack your only options are what jaeger and ragman sell to you, but I recommend using a raid to scav hunt and stock up on bags.

Always remember that ammo is way more important than guns, so choose guns based on what ammo you can buy.
Early on your best options are:
UMP-45s (buy Knives at Fence and trade to Peacekeeper) with FMJ
Mosin from Prapor with SP BT is great if you like bolt actions,
KEDR or PPSH are both good for close-range high-damage guns you can spray legs or face with.
9mm guns like the Saiga-9 or MP5 have no recoil, they do no damage so you have to aim for the face, but they can be great laser beams
You can always go super cheap with the double-barrel. 5.25 buckshot is the best and only shotgun round worth running early on, aim at the face.

If you can find good 545 (PP, BP, BT, BS) or 762x39 (PS, PP, BP) then those are also options. AKS-74UB is unlocked after Prapors debut quest, you have no good ammo to buy for it, but it can work very nicely as a sniper if you throw a PSO scope on it, and it becomes nuts if you find some of that good 5.45

Scaving is great to get some loot to begin with and learn the maps. That being said I dont think it is the best way to learn combat. Most of the time you just try to get loot and get out. It's also not recommended to kill other scavs while doing it as it affects negatively to your scav karma

the thing is that even if you lose it, you’ll eventually get it back or better
gear fear is just something you gotta overcome. But if you’re not confident then run practice raids to learn the maps and practice PvE before hitting real PMCs
it’ll help you build some confidence. You can also just take all of your gear from a scav run and try to snowball too if you’re really concerned about it

when youre new its gonna take long, salewas and iskras are notoriously hard to find when you need them, after you do the quests you will find plenty of them

i take enough breaks when it gets bad but immedately get frustrated again just by seeing how much more xp i have to go just to get to level 15

the ammo from level 1 traders feels horrible to use compared to the ap ammo ive found in raids

what i do is i dont even look at the xp i need i just go in do t he quest i have and i play super slow personally i like to rat use cheap af guns, and constantly look for weapon mods i can use to mod my weapons i find in raid

just buy high flesh damage rounds and aim for the legs till you get better bullets
