-If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing/Practice Mode while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money. Practice mode is great for learning maps, learning loot runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses, and other core mechanics like hipfire. It's literally impossible to lose any money doing this, so it just stacks up while you learn a lot
-Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Use practice mode
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep track of which routes actually work and which are reliably dangerous.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP. Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, recording them and watching them back really helps improve
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

youll reach a balancing point. but you want a ton of stuff on hand cuz you'll need all sorts of odds and ends for quests/hideout/crafts/barters

there's way too much to say you need this, you'll need this soon, you'll need this eventually, you'll never need this - you can use this one to barter a good armor if you want, this one will barter you a weapon piece you'll need for a gunsmith quest soon. etc etc etc.

so it's best to just lucky scav box all of it. And unload from the scav box container as needed, or as you get full/need money you can then look up things you may or may not need.

Its mainly just starting gear, on lighthouse usecs get treated better by rogues for aggro distance unless they attack the rogues then bears and usecs are the same apart from starting loot, clothes, and voicelines

You can hug the boat and be covered from one side, but the cliffs next to the gas station gives an alright advantage & you are without cover from the road & down towards the construction site

yeah but the context of the situation that mechanic needs the exit for is so the guys he sends to reserve can get out with military equipment while staying under the radar. I feel like an extraction such as sewer manhole fits the quest a hell of a lot better

There are in principle no "wrong" quests. You want to do as many quests as you can, since they give you a lot of xp, to level your pmc and traders. There are some quests with choices, but thats not important right now.

Death is normal in tarkov. You have to be rather good, to reach a survival rate of 50%. Maybe your expectations are to high.
