I personally suggest learning Interchange from the ground floor first, as in the garage. Learn all the entrances and exits to the garage, and more importantly the stairwells into the stores from garage. Campers will often just stare at the big main entrances, I've often gotten to pick them out by exiting garage carefully.

There's also plenty of weapon boxes and crates down there, if you're goal is weapon pieces honestly, interchange garage is a goldmine

Offline mode is a good way to get comfortable fighting AI and such , once you feel decent fighting them the rest of the game is easier. 5-6 " serious attempts" at extraction in offline raids will give you a good baseline to work with for any map.

The way arena plays is so diffrent than normal tarkov I'm skeptical but as far as gun handling and some pvp movement for some situations sure. It's also something that can show horn you into a bunch of bad habits

-If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing/Practice Mode while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money. Practice mode is great for learning maps, learning loot runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses, and other core mechanics like hipfire. It's literally impossible to lose any money doing this, so it just stacks up while you learn a lot
-Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Use practice mode
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep track of which routes actually work and which are reliably dangerous.
-Only right hand peak if you have a choice. It exposes far less of you than peeking left.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP. Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, recording them and watching them back really helps improve
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much

As a complete beginner, should I just focus a bunch of time on running offline raids to learn the maps?

Start in Woods(my suggestion, start anywhere but Factory). You want to get one map down well. Don’t spread yourself thin early on. Focus on getting good enough at one map you can always go back there and make money if you need to, then go learn others.

Use these maps - they'll look cluttered at first. Hit "Hide All" on the left-hand toolbar, then scroll down and only toggle on "Extractions" and "Locations". That'll give you a pretty good look - feel free to toggle on some loot options as you go

Head into a practice mode on one of those maps, toggle on some AI scavs, and try to get a feel for the map, movement, gunplay, scav killing, etc.
When you're ready - try to scav into one of those maps and actually get some loot out.
Then you can take your PMC in and try to do some quests or loot or simply survive.

Good luck - you will die, try to have fun with it.

Hello Im new. I just bought the game 2 days ago. Im trying to figure out some settings.

I sprint using hold for sprint and if i ads (hold for ads) he keeps running until i let go of the shift key. Is this a Tarkov feature that I have to get used to or can I change this? In other games I hold down shift key and still ads and my guy stops sprinting and ads his gun and when I let go of ads he starts sprinting again.

One more thing, the keybind for changing reticle for any scope is press (RMB+LALT) which i mapped to my mouse 4 key because I have hold for ads so it doesnt work without press for ads. The problem is its not working with mouse 4 key. The only way it works if I try to do overhead fire using LALT+S or LALT+D and press RMB then it changes.

New wipe is coming in 6 hours and I hope I can set my settings up better.

Wow I didn't realized they changed it needed item pages. It was only list before. and ıt can be only removed by clicking the complete the quest tab. Now you can mark without quest

Honestly you just gotta have the confidence, not sure what the quest changes are but i'm pretty sure a lot of people will be on ground zero for a while
I usually try and run woods for my first couple raids, play slow but not ratty, try and get your quests and such and just focus on survival
