The solution to this is to only shoot people who have shot you first when you're scavving

Thats the easiest solution, but with experience you can learn what pmcs usually wear and distinguish between them

But even if you die to not shooting a pmc, in the long run its better to keep your karma high for the stable income source

If in raid, you can buy meds you need from therapist. At level 1 she sells everything you need to heal your PMC (other than blacked limbs which require a surgery kit which she does not sell at level 1)

The best way to heal out of raid after you get past level 5, so when you have to start paying, is to grab a grizzly kit and heal completely with it out of raid. If going by flea prices, it's cheaper than healing with therapist, and it also gives you xp.
