LK is the first try of adding a real end-game to eft. You have the initial leveling to 42, but after that, there is no real "directed" content. Before LK there was basically only kappa and chasing pvp. Personally, i think the idea of new traders and also a working endgame is something that eft is missing, but i don't think the LK has done that well yet. Especially because the biggest content which the LK gives, the island, is actually dead, you can not pvp there, but only go loot and extract again.

Learn the maps, one at a time. When starting out the only objective you should keep in mind is to find out where you are and how to get to an exit, surviving is enough for the moment. Fill in the blank spots trough practice and repetition. Then start to wory about other objectives such as tasks, PVP and PVE.

Build your hideout for long term gain, it's a good investment.
Quests are the fastest way to level and unlock a lot from traders, consult the wiki as a quest guide. The gunsmith questline in particular unlocks some great stuff for kitting out your gun.

Use your scav a bunch for exploring the map in relative safety, free loot run for the most part as scavs are friendly to one another. teamkilling is penalized but not everyone knows this so beware.
