2-4 minutes , Sometimes it can be a while if loading in a scav but im usually avg 3 minutes to get into a raid on any map. Sometimes withing 2 minutes. I would highly suggest checking out which servers are selected on the launcher.

I wouldn’t say there’s a “best map” as everyone plays differently, customs will be a lot of people doing early tasks so can be a rough environment to learn in early on but necessary due to its number of early tasks. Woods is nice and spacious so a good option if you’re not looking for too many gunfights so long as you avoid hotspots. Overall, pick single map and stick to it until you have a decent comprehension of where you’re going and what your exits are then move on to a new map, worst thing you can do is hinder yourself by learning 1 map and being stuck to it exclusively

Most starter quests begins at customs and he can learn the fundamentals of PVP on there too with Dorms combat (cqb) etc etc. And customs is on the smaller sides of maps. Me personally i would say Woods and Customs are the 2 places a beginner should start.

Now would i suggest a lvl 1 go straight to dorms? Absolutely not. Squad up and learn from people first.

I usually suggest going offline raid and practicing gunplay on normal difficulty scavs first. Then go into a raid after getting a hand of extracts/pve/pvp

Only issue with starting on woods is with all the expansions and stuff a new player would have difficulty traversing through the map without prior knowledge of landmarks and bearings. Customs is pretty straightforward with that.

pmcs have 440 health. if youre not hitting thorax or head (which kill you instantly if they sre blacked) you need to deal the full 440 damage to body to kill them

You can see in the stats there how much was absorbed by his armor. So therefore this means this was an ammo problem. With lower tier ammo you want to aim for non armored locations (legs, arms, head)

Its safe to assume this guy was wearing at least tier 4 armor that absorbed all your bullet damage

Current tarkov recoil treats your rifle as if your PMC wasn’t shouldering his rifle. When you shoot full auto in game it should be like real life where it bounces not lifts your barrel.

had tarkov for ages, since reallllly early days, 2017 or 18 rings a bell, but only just playing it properly for the first time now, think something like 1 raid then and done with it for a few months normally, now about 10 or 11 raids in, trying quests, is it worth sticking to one map til you know it inside out? For example customs is my go to at the moment,

you are forced to expand to other maps at some time to progress your quests

woods and customs have a lot of starter quests so u can stick to those first and learn them kinda well first id say

Skill in Tarkov is very map based.
Sticking to one will give you place you know well, that you can return to to make money if you need.
Definitely get one map down before expanding, will make it much less brutal.

since customs is ur go to thats probably a good one to learn properly first

then maybe woods and then shoreline Id say

factory before shoreline possibly now that i think about it, its very small so doesnt take long and has some quests before u get to shoreline quests

One thing I have noticed, is I don't see many PMCs as a Scav, even with 20+ minutes to go on the raid, not had a single SCAV/PMC conflict as a Scav,

Most PMCs that are still in the raid at that point are trying very hard to avoid you

Lot of people with quest items not looking to get into fights with player scavs who have nothing to lose

A good map to start on is customs or woods. Customs you can get a feel for the game on a much smaller map. But on the other end you can explore more on woods. But both are generally a need to know maps due to most starter quests being at these locations. I highly suggest going in offline mode to practice your extracts and memorizing landmarks.
