Every new player struggles with spotting targets. It comes with better knowledge of the map.

Scavs are tricky - The moment one sees you, imagine a circle around you begins getting smaller. It will place shots somewhere in that circle about 1 second after initially seeing you. You have about 3-4 seconds before the only thing in that circle is parts of you. Breaking line of sight will freeze that circle, but the scav will keep his accuracy on that cover it saw you last. You can reset the circle by shifting positions while in cover and re-peeking from a new angle. Therefore:

Rule 1: Always fight scavs from reliable hard cover. (Not bushes, they see right through those). If you hear one yelling or shooting at you, don't look for it, run to cover

Rule 2: Peek briefly, but steady your aim. Like said previously, a scav will only start shooting about 1 second after initially seeing you, and there's a very good chance that his first shot will miss. So peek, take 1-2 seconds to line up a good headshot, and take it. If you miss, duck behind cover and reposition

Mapgenie is the best but they'll look cluttered at first. Hit "Hide All" on the left-hand toolbar, then scroll down and only toggle on "Extractions" and "Locations". That'll give you a pretty good look - feel free to toggle on some loot options as you go
Some maps are locked for them, but the Tarkov Wiki has similar interactive maps you can use for those

Aight ima need some tips here. First few games on customs went in with a pretty cheap gearset just to try and figure out whats up (level 10). I instantly run up on a squad of 3 less than a minute after spawning with seemingly no other route out of where i spawned in, and although i probably shouldnt have explored somewhere that had no loot, i wasn't aware at the time. Welp, Tarkov turned me evil.. after 3 rough raids of dying outta nowhere and then having a great scav run where I picked up 2 gpu's and a few quest items only to get killed by an extract camper with 2 seconds left on the timer.. i've now been going into scav raids murdering everyone I see to take their loot without remorse

My advice is to pick maybe 2 map first.. I recommend woods and customs because you will be going there a lot early wipe. Pull up a map from the tarkov wiki on a second monitor or phone and do offline raids and walk around the map to get a feel for some of the landmarks and spawns and then just start practicing those maps like crazy on actual raids until you get comfortable

If you shoot a scav as a scav, you will lose scav karma, and be shoot-on-sight for both AI and other playerscavs for the rest of the raid, not 24 hours. If your scav karma is below -5, you will be shoot-on-sight untill you raise your karma by killing traitor playerscavs or PMCs who have killed scavs. You can check your scav karma by looking at your reputation with fence on the trade screen. My scav rep is 0.43. im mostly going streets as a scav and on a good run im getting out with good sum of roubls, more or less 300k so if you know locations of douffles, dead scavs, buried barrels locations and mostly food spawns you will profit a lot, just dont go to places like check15 or the lexos so often
