You could go on a map offline and turn on scavs, try to find a scav that is far enough away that it won't agro

Then change it to see which settings lets you see it the best

You should try to use external maps, like mapgenie(site) or the fanwikis are providing both 2D and 3D maps.

They are telling you literally everything about the zones of each map. Mapgenie is more interactive, but some functions are for premium mapgenie users.
My advice is to remember the time you go in, and try to direct yourself by the sun.

I find in any situation, inatead of hesitating about what action to take i do the first thing that cones to mind, if thats to back off and rotate, hold and listen or push the first instinct is the correct one. If i die i use recording software then watch back to see what messed me up then learn from it, takes the annoyance out of deaths

Did you head peek the scav? They shoot at any exposed parts so its always better to expose your whole body or smooth right hand peek, there is always a voiceline before firing aswell

For me it was learning to rotate and reposition more, my friend was talking about dayz and said reposition after every shot and i thought that sounded like good advice for tarkov and did it and it helps so much, especially in long range fights

Well, the settings depends on your hardware.
First, make sure to set your settings to run smoothly with performance, without causing your game looks very pixelated. Turning down the shadows to low can help for performance, even low shadows are beautiful.

Then, go in offline mode, search a scav who is out of range, make sure you do the scavs on easy, etc-etc. Then enter to postfx, click on visualize, and set your own settings, cause the visibility, brightness depends on your eye and monitor. Everyone has different.

For example, I use this, because I like the game how it looks, for someone, it would hurt his/her eyes.

I recommend you this, maybe.

You should do testing & trying. I needed 3 hours of "AFK" to set my settings into their best.
