I think the sight is a fine choice given the current bugs in the game w/laser and flashlights remaining ON despite being OFF
that sight is the only sight with a laser built into it AFAIK its not affected by this bug so you can still use its laser w/o fear of giving yourself away.

Zagustin, AHF1-M and Perfotora (blue blood) : Each stop all bleeds at once, blue blood heals you at the cost of a lot of food and water
MULE lets you carry a lot more
SJ6 lets you run for way longer
SJ12 is an emergency stim that gives food and water for 10 minutes
