Because nobody but you knows where you're at in terms of quests or hideout, or what barters/crafts you're trying to save for, you have to check things yourself. It's otherwise impossible to know, without significant experience or asking other people every time, what you'll need anytime soon, or what sells for substantial money to other players.

Check everything using https://tarkov-market.com/ and the info it provides for quest/hideout/barter/crafting requirements and for flea prices. Then you can decide what things you'll need soon enough to hold onto., and which items sell for enough to get rid of

However, here's some tips that helped me:

• If you want to guarantee profit, you can always enter the cycle of scavving and offline-PMCing while your scav is on cooldown. Scavving can only make you money, you can't lose anything. Offline is great for learning maps, cache runs, and getting good at killing scavs and scav bosses. This cycle is great to simply build up lots of money while learning - which makes online PMCing far easier.
  -Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Get a good feel for it in offline mode and you'll thank yourself later.
  -Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint. Whenever I get feedback about my advice, people say that sprinting less and hipfiring more made the biggest difference in their performance.
  -Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep oriented and focused in-raid
  -Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat - it often gives you a better chance to hit back later.
  -Only right hand peak if you have a choice. It exposes far less of you than peeking left.
  -Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
  -Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP.
  -Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, and if you can learn that lesson the death is a lot less frustrating.
  -Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

Hey guys, quick (ish) question; ok so there are A LOT of items in Takov, and I understand some need to be found in raid for quests ect. but your stash is only so big and fills up crazy fast, so until you unlock flea, what do you do with all the stuff you find in SCAV raids ect? I mean sure ill hang on to the stuff that I need later on FIR but what about everything else? Just sell knowing youre taking a massive loss from traders rather than flea?

Yes. You sell enough at a loss to buy a lucky scav box/boxes so you can hold as much as possible until you hit level 15

For example, if you were checking 'Bolts' you would type it in and see this screen. You could then decide if any of those quests or hideout upgrades are close enough to save for, or if the extra money you'd get on the flea would make it worthwhile to hold onto until you hit level 15.

early wipe i always buy a junkbox whenver i have the money, then fill up my stash. by the time i get level 15 i make back a few mil worth, you can sell some barter items for better than flea prices. bolts, nuts, toolsets, screwdrivers, and elite pliers are some high end items early on for barters, tasks, hideout

bolts still jump up to 50k even today, toolsets around 80-100k

They didn't nerf it, they just restricted early access to it. Scavs very often spawn with PS, and so if you get a bit you can still run SKS. Until then, SMG's have been pretty potent, with the KEDR and PPSH shining. 590 from Jaeger is a decent shotgun. Mosin is a classic.

There's a trick to getting faster queues with scav as follows:

1. Take scav
2. Pick map
3. Invite literally anyone from the randoms looking for group.
4. Ready up and start searching, the invited player DOESN'T need to accept, just get invited.
5. You'll be like prioritized or some shit and get inside of scav raids much faster.
