Rust doesn't have trader levels or flea, so it's way harder to snowball in Tarkov. And I wouldn't necessarily say higher reward starting later. People might be better geared, but the value of most things early wipe is off the charts compared to the value of the same things later.

I mean i would compare trader levels to the tech tree n blueprints and workbench levels. Although you do see people doing zero to heroes in tarkov i think thats similar to rust but of course they have their differences. And rust also has a completely different economy due to you needing resources constantly, but yeah it was a pretty loose comparison.

Last I heard they were still going for the two character model, you'd effectively have two disconnected characters, one that would wipe seasonally and one that never wipes.
However there are some issues with that idea that I don't know how they plan to handle, namely how it might affect player numbers in some underpopulated regions

No, that's totally standard. No one starts off good at Tarkov. A week is nothing. You're also playing in late-wipe, so everyone is going to out-gear you. It's a good time to learn the basics, but you'll have much more fun after it wipes and everyone is on the same level

Some general tips though:
-Hipfire is exceptional, using a flashlight and hipfiring is a hugely important mechanic to start practicing. Get a good feel for it in offline mode and you'll thank yourself later.
-Stop running everywhere - sprinting is very loud and gives you away, it provides a lot of opportunity to ambush you. Whenever you're in high-traffic areas, be very disciplined about when you sprint. Whenever I get feedback about my advice, people say that sprinting less and hipfiring more made the biggest difference in their performance.
-Have a goal in mind every raid, plan a route and try to stick roughly to it. If you notice a route failing 3 times in a row, change your route. This makes it easier to keep oriented and focused in-raid
-Pick your fights, don't be afraid to retreat - it often gives you a better chance to hit back later.
-Only right hand peak if you have a choice. It exposes far less of you than peeking left.
-Ammo is more important than guns, but you need to know how to use what ammo you have. High damage vs High penetration is a critical difference - use an ammo chart.
-Positioning is everything. In combat, frequently reposition, this is just one of the reasons map knowledge is critical and should be built and practiced ASAP.
-Learn from every death, there's almost always a lesson, and if you can learn that lesson the death is a lot less frustrating.
-Most importantly, have fun with it - don't be afraid to take a break if it's frustrating you too much.

Great idea. Most suggest Woods and Customs as the first two maps you learn as a PMC, and I personally suggest Factory and Reserve as the best maps to learn as a scav - but follow your interests, there's no wrong option. (Playing only factory is a bad idea, that place is a meat grinder)

I know gear fear is a thing but I lose so much gear that I have a least a dozen guns that I lose that I get back from prapor so i have a constant rotation of veprs with 30 round mags and pilads coming back every night
