Hey guys, would love to see if I could do something to increase my performance. I primarily play on offline servers, and I've got a feeling that bots are the reason my performance is bad. I get into a map with around 70-80 FPS, and after a minute or so I get lag spikes for about 10 seconds or so. During that time my FPS also drops to around 30 FPS and stays there.

I have an intel xeon E5-2678 and a gtx 1080.

Any help is much appreciated. 😄

Same thing happens to me if I have too many bots on & if graphic settings are too high. In offline mode all the load is on you, there are no servers to help offload resource usage for things like bot spawning & AI.

Hey I have a very strange technical issue. So, I am using a monitor to check CPU and GPU utilization and FPS. Sometimes the GPU will be fully or close to fully utilized, and I will get pretty good FPS, at least like 80 to over 100. And then sometimes the CPU utilization will got down to 60, 70, or even 30 or 40%. When the utilization goes down the FPS tanks to 60 FPS, or even lower to 40 or 30 FPS. I've never seen this on any other games. Anyone have this same issue and/or know a solution?

EfT has a pretty complex weapon system that is hard to make optimized. Animations are also going to change. Meaning all in all the main problems with performances, especially on lighthouse, are caused by the high amount of AI and players

Imo, making an AI type that is not lootable and has very standard weapon, no inventory system or ammo management for EXUSEC on the roof or others that you can't loot like sniper, may help

this would save some ressource for lighthouse having -10 exusec on roofs to load

Do you mean FPS related performance issues too? I don't think animations would matter since they aren't being rendered on my GPU unless they're on my screen, and I had the performance issues in an empty forest field with just me and the trees. And no matter whether I turn up or down quality of visuals, I got the same issues.

As for AI, only in offline mode is it computed locally. In online mode I believe it is Tarkov's own servers which compute for the AI.

Anyway that's what I saw people saying in forums about the AI.

Well that's the thing, right now the place that causes the most FPS problem in my experience is the lighthouse. Other instances are for example offline when scavs are on Horde.
You do render a lot of them.

The inventory system is very complex as well, and right now we also have simplified AI to get lower impact on performances. For example, the way ammo and magazine of AI are not managed the same for PMCs. It is made more simple to have a lower impact on the performances

I've had some issues with unity games in the past, especially when they don't support DX12 or Vulkan. I think it's cause my individual CPU core speeds are slow and the older APIs can't use multiple cores efficiently. That would make sense cause it would still show low cpu utilization

For anyone who was wondering, after spending the whole morning troubleshooting, I finally was able to massively improve my frame rate by setting Nvidia PhysX to use CPU. I'd never have guessed that's what I needed to do, so if any of you are having issues with frame rate, maybe try that.

I'm getting a solid 75 to 80 when previously I was getting 45 to 60

Although.... As I use it more I am still getting some larger fps dips, but it's still way better

Pretty much none of the image quality settings had any significant effect on frame rate, low settings vs all high settings are pretty similar

Nope, it didn't seem to change resource utilization much. My GPU and CPU both were, and still are very low in utilization, usually under 40% for CPU and hovering close to 70% for GPU

You have a very similar setup to mine. I'm also on a ryzen Asus laptop with the same GPU. Setting PhysX to use CPU helped my performance a lot. Turning on CPU boost helped until it overheated....

Like, I can run that new Dying Light 2 game on high settings at a better frame rate than this on low settings.

mine is disabled cause my laptop overheats with it on, but if your laptop can handle it, it's helpful. I actually had to change a registry key to get access to this option, not sure if your laptop will have it enabled by default.

The really frustrating thing is I'm getting 80 to 120 fps on factory but 45 to 70 on any outdoor map...

After tons of googling and reading a lot of forum threads, it's clear to me that this issue is affecting a lot of people (low resource utilization accompanied by low fps). And it seems almost every one I saw was using a Ryzen CPU, I couldn't find an example with Intel. This is also in line with my experiences with other badly optimized Unity games, like Subnautica. Subnautica 2 which has objectively more demanding graphics runs at a much higher fps than Subnautica 1 on my pc cause it uses modern APIs which work well with ryzen CPUs.

I get that bug occasionally, it basically means that you are going to have to forfeit this raid, since you have to ALT+F4 and your not getting into the raid after you enter the game again.

When you try and reconnect to a scav that has been "Awaiting session start" and it fails on the second time, then the scav run is probably over or something, I recommend disconnecting after that.

Put the scav boxes you want to save in your sorting table, press tab, then walk over to scav case and manually build it. If that doesn't work please empty each one, one by one, as it's trying to take one with items in it. It should be trying to pick the first one you bought/crafted.
