Sounds like the path he's trying to install it to uses "illegal" characters, e.g special or russian symbols etc. Is that the case? Try to rename the folder where you want to install the game to something basic like: EFT and then see if that worked.

Still, it'd surprise me if reinstalling the launcher to any preferred location and then setting the install location for the game before downloading it doesn't do the trick. You could also edit the registry to change the download / install location, just make sure to do a backup of it before doing so. Maybe Sessamy is online and can help you further with that

First create a restore point on your C drive by going to Start > type "create a restore point" and click on the drive where your Windows is installed (C:) and then "create" and name it anything you'd like.

After that is done (to be sure you can undo this if you do the wrong thing), go to Start and type "registry editor" and right-click the registry editor and open it as administrator. Browse to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\EscapeFromTarkov

On the left you should see a list of folders, one is "EscapeFromTarkov" and you should see where your game is currently or was installed on the right along with other information.

Right click and delete the folder "EscapeFromTarkov" on the left. @uncut path

Then reboot, and you should be able to install without issues.

Go into Documents\Escape from Tarkov and delete the file called local.ini, this will wipe your graphic settings. So if you want to keep what you've set it to, make a backup of said file and just take over the settings for that new file after you've tried to launch the game to see if it worked. If not, make sure your drivers are up to date or do a clean installation as they could be borked.

Anytime I try to launch tarkov I get a blue screen with the stop code Kernel Security Check Failure. I ran a mem test memory is fine. If it was my nvme failing I feel like windows wouldn’t boot as it’s on the same drive and there is no performance issues or problems in any other game or task. Any ideas? Seems like it failed also. The launcher tries to download something at a very minimal speed (~120 Kb/s or ~15KB/s), then ramps up to ~30 Mb/s or roughly 3 MB/s, a second or two after it fails the whole repair process claiming there are no live channels for download.

A friend confirmed that re-installing the launcher doesn't work also

Full reinstall worked for me. At first I uninstalled the game (uninstall.exe in game dir), deleted all remaining files and installed the game again from the launcher. The error popped up few times, but it let me continue, so I guess you can just brute force through it. And it installed just fine in the end

To see if your IP is blacklisted or something from the tarkov website.

If you do too many requests you get temp banned from the website.

But usually you'd get an error like 403 forbidden

If you have problems downloading/installing the update/game :

We suggest the following workaround. It will allow you to install without using the launcher directly.
Game download link : http://cdn-11.eft-store.com/client/live/distribs/0.12.11.5.14674_110fb5d6-6675-489c-a37a-34bd5d83e4ab/Client.0.12.11.5.14674.zip

Once downloaded, please extract it where you want the game to be installed, for example : D:\Games\EFT\EscapeFromTarkov.exe

After that, in the launcher you can specify the path to the directory with the game, in this example you will need to specify the directory D:\Games\EFT.

Using this method, you will have installed the game manually.
If you have any problems doing so, or any question, please open a request in the launcher - bug report section. While moderators can assist, they do not have all the tools and knowledge to do it in the best of ways here on discord.

Otherwise, restart the launcher as admin and try again.

If that doesn't work open Task Manager > Performance > Resource Monitor at the bottom > CPU > Associated Handles > Look for the file with the search bar and see which process uses it > Right-click > End process. Also try disabling all antivirus software, especially Windows Defender, temporarily, while installing. Also, add the game and launcher directories to your antivirus' exclusion/whitelist to prevent any further issues.
