After recently being made redundant as a developer on a somewhat niche platform, I was looking at other possible avenues to go down to make myself more employable and switching fields.

I came across TryHackMe as I was researching cybersecurity as it has always sounded interesting to me. Came across a team at one of my previous places and it peaked my curiosity when I saw the report they shared with us.

So far the THM stuff is interesting and there's a lot to learn. In one sense, thankfully at the moment I have a lot of time to make my way through it, on the other, being employed is always a bonus 🙂

Here are some recommendations:

1. Implement a Whitelist
   Instead of allowing the user to enter any filename, the application should only accept a predefined list of allowed options.

Example: If the user chooses "español" (Spanish), the system loads es.php internally based on an ID (1), not the name submitted by the user.

2. Input Sanitization and Validation
   If it is absolutely necessary for the user to submit a filename, the input should be sanitized:

Remove dangerous characters such as periods (.), slashes (/), or null bytes (%00).

Validate that the requested file actually belongs to the expected directory.

3. Server Configuration (Hardening)
   Disable dangerous functions: In PHP, ensure that allow_url_fopen and allow_url_include are set to Off to prevent remote file requests (RFIs).

System Permissions: Run the web server with a "least privilege" user that does not have permission to read sensitive files such as /etc/shadow.

RBCD (Resource-Based Constrained Delegation) has been one of the most interesting techniques I’ve come across during my cybersecurity journey. I really like the original Get-RBCD-Threaded by FatRodzianko (https://github.com/FatRodzianko/Get-RBCD-Threaded) because it makes enumeration so much easier.

I wanted something that would run anywhere — even without any foothold on the domain — so with a bit of help from Claude I put together a Python port:

What it offers:

• Runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS (just needs Python)
• Supports anonymous/guest exploitation if the target is configured to allow it (I haven’t seen this in other public tools)
• Works without any domain credentials or foothold — handy for external recon or early stages (If the target allows null-auth)
• Threaded enumeration, same style and speed as the original

It’s not cloud-related at all, but I figured the AD/Red-Teaming crowd here might still find it useful. Would really appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or ideas to improve it!
