To become job ready... You should first learn about operating systems then networking (most important) then other stuff...

Don't rush doing multiple room won't help it's unless you are doing multiple room of the same topic

Hi, do you mean the OS and networking rooms in Pre Security and Cyber Security 101? I've done all those already.
I thought to be job ready it would require to have completed everything in THM (+ maybe some Hack The Box) + a lot of CTFs + certifications. That's how I saw it. I give myself one year to become job ready, not sure if it's realistic.

But my question was: with what I've done so far, am I ready to start some challenges?

If you successfully learnd OS and networking then learn some tools and then start solving basic challenge..

And while solving challenge you will learn new things as well...

But if you want to learn everything first then start solving challenges then after networking learn AD stuff then web security then privilege escalation (both windows, linux) then exploitation then lateral movements...

This will be more than enough to start hard challenges but it will take a year or more to learn...

THM annual sub is honestly very good relative to its price. I recommend sticking to THM and using other sources as supplements. As far as fundamentals go, THM is going to teach you most of the stuff you need to know. Ask others around here too to get more opinions

Since that is the case, I will subscribe and learn anything else on the go when needed. I’m a gas engineer with a long-standing interest in technology. Over time, I’ve built a few small Discord bots and done some light coding, and more recently I’ve started experimenting with Linux. I’ve also caught the home lab bug and am excited to start building my own setup. I’m currently waiting on a Raspberry Pi 4 so I can set up Pi-hole and officially dive down the rabbit hole.

I’ve recently signed up to TryHackMe and have been working my way through the rooms at my own pace, and I’m genuinely enjoying the learning process. On top of that, I’ve been watching Scammer Payback and following the work the professionals are doing—it’s incredibly inspiring.

I’m still figuring out exactly what direction I want to take, but I know I want to learn, grow, and contribute to this community. At the moment, I’m thinking the purple team path might be where I’m heading.

Hey man — I’ve always been into computers, I just ended up going down the welding/engineering route because I needed a job when I was younger, and it kind of stuck.

Lately, with how fast tech is moving, I’ve realised I need to step things up and properly get back into the world of computing and cybersecurity. My main goal is to be able to secure my own network properly, but longer term I’d love to turn this into something bigger — potentially running my own security consultancy and doing bug bounty work.

I’ve been getting properly hands-on again recently. I set up a Pi-hole with Unbound and Tailscale yesterday, which was a great learning experience, and I also built a Pwnagotchi not long ago. That was a fun project and a really solid introduction to Linux — it made the Linux-focused learning rooms feel much more familiar. Ironically, it’s actually the Windows rooms that I’ve been finding a bit more challenging.

I’ve recently realized that what I enjoy in cybersecurity is Security Engineering, especially around Cloud/Infrastructure. I’d like to ask for some advice on how to go deeper into cloud security.

I see a lot of rooms and paths for SOC/blue team and offensive security (pentesting, etc.), but not that many clearly structured paths for Cloud Security Engineer on the web even if i have finished the one on Tryhackme.

I also noticed TryHackMe Cloud Access / cloud labs seem expensive (e.g., ~£329 for 3 months for the AWS bundle), and the Business/Teams plans are clearly not student-priced.

Do you know any good learning paths or roadmaps specifically for Cloud Security Engineering (AWS/Azure/GCP)?

Are there any student cloud programs (AWS, Azure, GCP) that you’d recommend so I can practice with a real environment or with a Certificate Like OSCP for Cloud Security Engineer (more pratical)?

Any tips on skills I should prioritize (IAM, network security, automation, etc.) to be ready for a junior Cloud Security Engineer role?

I’m ready to invest a lot of time and lab work, so any concrete resources or personal experience would be really appreciated.
