Hii, I'm studying computer engineering at university and I'm mainly thinking of buying a laptop (in which will install debian) but I don't really know which brands and models are the best right know in the market. My question comes since some models come with compatibility difficulties with hardware drivers and Linux (since they are thought to be used with windows only), I don't care about really good specs because I wont use it for gamming, just work and studding. If is there anyone that can guide me I will appreciate it.

You're definitely going to install Linux on it and not just use a virtual machine? I'd suggest most students would likely use Windows by default and use a hypervisior (vmware, oraclebox etc) to use Linux.

You'll get alot more bang for buck going with linux on the laptop, the prices suck right now, but linux helps quite abit too. Lenovo is what i use, new Dell XPs are coming out, they might be good value but I haven't seen anything on the prices.

I would personally just read reviews and search for Linux and probably get a Windows or Barebones Laptop, then install Linux myself.

a live usb is a flash drive that you can boot an OS from. I recommend that because you'll have less lag when using resource intensive tools (I'm assuming you're on a laptop or something).
