The closest you'd get to that is working in an organisation which is big enough to need in house security, but small enough to not have a full security team.
That org would not be big enough to need proper purple team exercises though. Would be more a case of you taking a "security" role and just needing to do a bunch of stuff.

End of the day, the real world isn't nearly as neatly defined as CTF sites might have you believe.
Lots of people have experience with lots of different areas (and there are far more than just two roles in security).
It's what you do for a job that defines what your job role is. That's literally it.
If I resigned today then I would no longer be a red team operator, or a pentester. If I then got a job on a threat hunting team then I would be a threat hunter 🤷‍♂️

Because that's not how industry works.
You are highly unlikely to get a job as a "purple teamer" because that generally does not exist.

As I've already said: if you're in an org that's big enough to define these roles then you will not be doing both.

You will be either on an internal pentest or red team (offensive side), or you'll be somewhere in the blue team (soc analysis, detection engineering, threat hunting, whatever).

If you're in a role that has you doing both then it will be for an organisation that isn't big enough to properly define those roles.
That's still not purple teaming (which is a set exercise in which a red team set off alerts with the knowledge of -- and in collaboration with -- representatives of their blue counterparts), so much as it is an undefined blob.

That's how they get away with selling your data to advertising companies -- the ToS you sign literally gives them permission to do it.
