Ok, just download the configuration file from ur thm profile , and conect from kali

Sudo openvpn config_file.openvpn

Make sure you are running this command in the path of ur configuration file

Then u can open a new terminal and run "ip a" to see ur ip , if u have a tun0 interface , that means u r conected to the vpn

Launch a thm machine and try to ping it , should work

If you are not yet comfortable with Powershell and most importantly using Powershell modules definitely learn that first.

Yes, but TCP has certain quality of life features like detecting when a packet is missing and more. Would be annoying when you download a PNG over UDP and half the image never arrived. ;D

Yea, but do you know how to properly document it? What about the legality if what you do? Could you write a contract or perform a legally sound investigation? Could you sell your service to someone else? Can you write a scientific paper about the stuff you do?

Of course all of these ate just examples, and you also don‘t need a degree to be successful, but it will help you a lot.

Also you will make a ton of potentially very important connections throughout university.

It teaches you to work on stuff you don‘t want to work on, and that can happen anytime on the job. Of course you want something that is fun later on, but there‘s always gonna be something that‘s annoying to do but very important like writing documentation.

I can only tell you that I work in offensive security. I work while being at university at the same time, and the combined experiences of both are very helpful in understanding things from both a very technical perspective (job) and a more management/process oriented one (university).
