As you may know, we use a Discord bot in the TryHackMe server.
We have migrated to a new programming language so there are some changes we would like to inform you about.
Most important change is we are no longer using !chat commands. We now use application commands, more commonly known as 'slash commands'.
- To interact with the bot, type / in chat and select the Discord bot from the list.
- From there, select the command you would like to use
Along with this change, there will be stripped functionality. Functionality available so far is:
- /verify
- /rank
- /socials
- /notifyme
- /help

"Coming from a musical background, I found building rooms is no different than writing a composition. They both can tell a story and give you a sneak peek into the mind of a person. Learning how to create rooms has also made me a better attacker as well as a defender."
And he has some great advice for aspiring challenge room creators!

We've heard your feedback and understand the need for a more reliable way to report users violating server rules. To improve communication and moderation, we’re introducing the /report command.
How It Works:
You can use either of the following commands:
- </report message:1348321561517625404> – Report a specific message that breaks the rules.
- </report user:1348321561517625404> – Report a user directly if their behaviour is concerning.
What Happens Next?
When you submit a report, the bot will notify our moderation team.
- Reports can be made from any channel.
- Reasons are limited to 200 characters, avoid inserting links in this field, as moderators will not click on them.
- Reports are hidden. The reported user will not know when a report is submitted.
- There is a cooldown of 10 minutes per report to prevent spam.
Important Notes:
- This is NOT a ticketing system. Reports do not guarantee an immediate response or action.
- Moderators will review all reports, but not all reports will result in action, and not all actions will be publicly visible.
- Misuse of the report system, such as false reports, may result in consequences.
- You must be verified to use the report command.

The topic will be: "Email Header Analysis: Finding Evil In Your Inbox"
E-mail is the primary vector for malware infections and other garden variety scams that target everyday folks and enterprises alike. In this talk, Droogy will break down the main source of metadata for e-mails; known as e-mail headers. We'll talk about the standards defining headers, how to view them in different clients, and how to analyze an e-mail header for forensic purposes. The talk will close out with a small case-study encountered in a real SOC (Security Operations Center) and a distribution of some actual malicious e-mails (scrubbed and de-fanged) for attendees to analyze.

📖 Study Sessions 📖
The sharp-eyed amongst you may have noticed that a new "Study Sessions" category has popped up in the Discord
For the past few months, a few members of our community have been running unofficial study sessions once a week. I am delighted to announce that these are now being formalised and backed officially by the community staff!
For the time being, the study sessions will run once per week on Sunday at 0900 UTC (In your local time, the next session will be: <t:1650787200:F>), but keep an eye on #964299422538289245 as there may be other sessions starting up in different timezones soon!
