I was just reading the software integrity failure, and there it was mentioned that some website uses jquery on their website and uses cdn to load it. If anyone manages to hack into that cdn and modify those code then the modified code will be executed on the client browser.

To prevent this we use integrity tag in html.

But what happens if we modify the jquery and intercept the response before it reaches the user browser somewhat like in MITM where everything passes through hacker machine... and modify those integrity value with the new modified value. So the user browser will accept it or this will not work?

Yes, you can do decompiling, but it's quite risky.
You can alter the source code if you have access to it. If not, you can use a hex editor to directly edit the binary file. There're windows, mac and linux hex editors (google which one suits you).
