Yea it's pretty similar to programming something in that way, there's tons of databases etc out there to lookup the specifics for certain things so as long as you know how to effectively do that it will be alot easier than trying to remember everything hehe

mossy river
# wooden totem Is 1-2 hours of learning per day a good pace to remember stuff or should I do mo...

If after those two hours you are feeling like you need to take a break or shut your brain off, I would consider turning it down a little.
Otherwise, I would say so!

Here are a few tips that you should keep in mind:

  • Your ability to remember is not dictated by the amount of hours you put into a session. External sources can affect converting short term to long term memory.
  • Ensure you are getting between 6-10 hours of sleep.
  • Have a balanced diet
  • diet patterns that are high in sugar, refined carbs, unhealthy fats and processed foods can contribute to impaired memory and learning
  • Some studies showed that caffeine can reduce memory and thinking decline, don't consume caffeine after 6pm
  • "Practice makes perfect"
  • repetition can help consolidate your memory and convert short term to long term. Repeat techniques and concepts. Do a walkthrough room then a challenge room with that specific topic.
  • Take notes
  • In this field you are not expected to remember every single thing, please do not fall into the mindset that you need to know everything in cyber. You can become familiar with topics but you will only master a few of them. This does not mean that you should avoid topics, just don't be upset if you keep forgetting a concept
  • I have written a few times about the best ways to take notes, etc.
  • Explain the concept you have learned to someone or read it out loud. This helps convert to long term memory
  • Find the best form of content for you to start learning.
  • Everyone is different. I prefer a demonstration for me to understand what I am required to do. Find out if you are a visual/ written/ listening learner and do your best to find content that is in that form.
  • An example: if you are doign a TryHackMe room and can't seem to grasp the content. Find a YouTube video of someone going over the room and see if that helps

Be sure not to pressure yourself if you struggle to understand a topic. It will only make it harder for you to learn it โค๏ธ

# crude stump Whatโ€™s c used for

Quite a lot... It's pretty close to the machine and not far abstracted. It's used in embedded devices, and many languages are based on it. Windows and linux are both written in C and C++. Decompilers also decompile to C like code so it will help with malware analysis. Many games are written in C++ which is C but ... More (++) as these languages are pretty fast. You also get direct memory access and pointers and addresses are a good concept to understand. Much malware is also written in these languages because of the before mentioned benefits, same with game cheats. You also get to understand how vulnerabilities like buffer overflows get created

Hmm you best start off with understanding how memory works. While reversing you will have to work with Assembly before doing that you will need to understand C. Have you programmed in another language before? You should learn about pointers and really understand how that works. You can write a C program and then look at its assembly to see how it looks under the hood
