Hi , so I have terminated the machine in Windows Fundamental 2 room and when I try start a machine in Linux Fundamentals 2 room it says that you have to terminate a previous machine and when I get back to windows fundamental room again it just spawns as soon as I visit so it isn't getting terminated

When your page splits when you start a web-based machine, and the machine has fully loaded (shown by a loading bar on the right half of the split screen), you can open it in full screen - this opens a new tab - In that new tab, copy/paste the URL to me, which makes it easier for me to help diagnose the problem

i missed like 5 tickets cause i didnt know about the ```If you subscribe after a ticket-eligible room has been complete, you can't redeem that room's second ticket. You need to be subscribed before the room is complete if you want both (otherwise you'll only get a single ticket).

The size of file is 0byte means the file is not downloaded successfully. Make sure to download file correctly. If it works then good but if isn't then try regenerating or changing server and then try again. Also, if there are many openvpn connections running simultaneously, then you have to kill them all using sudo killall openvpn

Sorry for late reply but yeah. Dev circle insider preview. Think the actual beta for all insiders is available later this week. I only included it in case it was part of the cause. But looking at the rest I'm guessing it's just a blanket issue.

I can't redeem my tickets for the OSI model room? It says I've redeemed them even though I only finished the room today?

It might be because I started finishing the room on my phone then saw the progress didnt get tracked on my computer (the tasks I had completed weren't green despite having correct answers) so I reset the room progress (but prior to completing it?)

I got 3 of the streak freeze tickets, then i redeemed it, and then i earned a 4th streak freeze ticket on another room

but on my tickets page it shows "Prize Redeemed" over that area instead of the
new ticket

If you can only redeem each prize once, which seems fair, then you should not get more than 3 of a type of tickets

i've completed all the pre-security path and now, in order to make more tickets, i've invited a friend to join THM and he gained over 200 points, so yesterday i wrote the email to hello+tickets1@tryhackme.com with "referral j0h" in the object and my friend's username into the text! Is this the right procedure to gain the extra ticket? How long does it take? is there a standard text to use?

No worries at all, and they're kinda the same thing although the room is where you have the content regarding the machine, hints and a place to answer the questions. The lab is the machine you spin up through the room itself.

Somehow when I terminate a machine I get the popup that the machine has been terminated, yet when trying to deploy the next it says I need to terminate all other machines. Also, after reloading the page the machine is still there and when trying to reach the machine itsself it is still online

Ok, so now I noticed that the hints are not working, either. In the JS console this exception is thrown (when clicking on the hint button or the terminate machine button): currentDeployedIP.replaceAll is not a Function.
The room is OWASP Top 10 and I am on a Kali VM using Firefox. I would really appreciate some help since the machine will only expire in an hour and I cannot continue while it is online

When I connect to the server via SSH the MOTD pops up but I never get a cmd promt but it rather freezes. Tried deleting ssh config cache files and restarting the service all with no luck. Any help would be awesome!

im trying to write a python script which connects to a TCP server, (nc 192.168.0.25 31337) works, I send a tcp message out, then in the server console you can see that bytes recieved shows up, followed by bytes sent (back to the nc client)

but with my python script it works fine, i can adjust it too fuzz and expand the input until a connection is dropped

yo um, I haven't encountered this before, im on the attackbox and in my terminal, when I attempt to type nothing is going down on the line rather its like the keys are acting as functions for example, when I press "i" its the equivalent of pressing enter, so its making a new line in the terminal, another example when I press the letter "d" it closes the terminal. any ideas to what may have happened?

I have an issue with the generated certificate. Earlier i had put a name on my full name section of my profile. Its not my true name. (Put it as a joke). Now when i downloaded the certification there is that name in the certification. I just changed it to my real name and its not updating.

Hey everyone, I am having issues connecting to openvpn.. I have followed the troubleshooting docs and updated my openvpn client as well as my machine. Made sure there were not connections running in the baclground. Tried multiple servers and new config files. I keep getting a "TLS handshake failed" error. This is not a VM, it's a physical machine. Any help is appreciated. 🙂

As a tip when you had:

/nickcass99.ovpn

The system is going to look in the root directory ( / ) for that file

If you want to reference a file in the current working directory you can put a . before the / i.e:

./nickass99.ovpn

Although a lot of the time you can could just get away with just:

nickcass99.ovpn

If you are receiving a 404 error after attempting to download the OpenVPN Configuration file please try these steps:

• Press regenerate, wait 2 minutes and then try downloading again

• Change VPN server and try downloading again

• Log out of your account and log back in

Hi,

I have had a problem lately when trying to ssh target hosts when connected with openVPN to THM.

I have just tried it again with the machine in the room "NIS - Linux Part I", openVPN connection is succesfully established, I can ping the target, but when I try to connect through SSH (port 22), I get the "ssh: connect to host 10.10.144.117 port 22: Connection refused" error.

I would appreciate it if you can check this issue, since it has happened me with every other room lately.

It should update about once a day. If it doesn't you can verify with the bot again to force it to update. If that doesn't work, then it's possible that the bot is having problems

In order to get other ticket, you have to be subscribed and should not have done the room before. Means you can only get other ticket if you start a newly fresh room which is in pre-security path but not a room which is completed and again re-done due to this event (:

I have been playing pre security learning path on try hack me..

I can access it okay now -- the machine has only been up for four minutes. It usually takes a minimum of 5 minutes for windows machines to boot up properly (or that's a good rule of thumb to wait for)

Hi all. Little help here? John the ripper room task 10 has me stumped. Trying to use rar2john command and keep getting "command not found". Ive completed the entire room and this is the only command giving me problems. ive tried reinstalling, updating, restarting my pc, restarting the attackbox....no luck. I also noted that in the /opt/john directory rar2john is listed there. The command im using is rar2john [path to file] > [output file], in this example rar2john secure.rar > secure_hash.txt. The result is always "command not found". A side note when using ssh2john i also had this error message but ssh2john had an option to use ssh2john.py which worked. Im unable to find any such workaround for rar2john. Thoughts?

If you've done part of this room before and are returning to it and deploying a new target machine, the IP will be different. Make sure you run the second command (I think it's a sed command) first, then run the original command again. That will clear any old entries from the host file and avoid multiple entries for the same hosts

Hello! I'm currently doing Vulniversity and I'm wondering what I am doing wrong on the Burp Suite sniper attack. I have the extensions loaded and I can clearly upload a the correct extension manually, but when I use burpsuit to fuzzy the input, it comes back with "Extension not allowed"

The question is asking me what extension is allowed. I know the answer, but not being able to get it through burpsuite makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong?

Well, you can still fake and change the certificates, but the real truth lies on your profile.

If you didn’t earn the certificates, people can check on your profile so lying isn’t really worth it. If you did earn the certificate and you change the name on it, well you earned it so most people wouldn’t look at it twice

Your streak counter should be in your local timezone, so if you are in the UK it would follow UK, US it would follow the timezone you are in. I think there is a problem with the machine in (Blaster) room, because I've been trying in the past hour to nmap and ping it, and i restarted the machine and my vpn several times, no problem with my vpn, but the machine is still not pinging, and nmap's results say that all ports are filtered, tho I'm expected to have 2 ports open (as i saw that in the writeups)

I don't think that's necessary. Even in the event that someone is attacking the THM network and/or the attackbox you are using, the risk to you would be incredibly low, IMO

chances are, that traffic is part of the THM infrastructure, but even if not, I'd guess the risk to you is quite low

Are the Windows RDP machines supposed to be super slow? Like, right click OU in AD and wait 6 seconds slow?
