I don't think I am explaining myself well enough. I am running kali-linux on a VM. I was accessing the openvpn tutorial on a browser outside the VM so on my physical computer. It shows I am connected through the throughg the access vpn page on THM but when I go to the actual ip of the machine and try to connect I get timed out every time.

You can use other RDP software if you need to.

We use the machine for a few reasons, one big reason is that not everyone has a windows machine.

On top of that, all the required software is on this machine so you don’t have to install it.

Most of the time we advise against taking the software off the machines but if I bring in @zealous yoke he should be able to give you a much more knowledgeable answer :)

Hey, I have an issue similar to SChan's. I'm trying to connect to a VM using OpenVPN but I can't. The VPN connection is succesful, however when I copy the IP address for the launched machine into my address bar, I am told that "Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at (ip address)". This might be a silly question, am I doing something wrong?

Go into the terminal where it's running. Press Control+C once. Wait for it to exit fully and return you to a prompt.

I've tried it on two different laptops, restarted the entire challenge again and still getting it

Only thing I could recommend is to maybe try redeploying the machine again. If that doesn't work, you could maybe switch to another vpn server or generate a new vpn file. But that's kinda grasping at straws/just guessing on THM's architecture.

The second error is because you left machines running from previous rooms. You can go back to those rooms and terminate the machines using the control panel near the top of the page

For the last part, the "won't open", I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Some rooms require that you connect to it using SSH or some other mechanism

i was facing this issue from sometime that I am not able to run nmap on target machines when I connect to THM network using openVPN. So is this known a issue or I am doing something wrong in configuration? Because I am able to run nmap scans on machines easily using the attackbox.

Hello everyone, I was on apaid plan, quit for a few and came back.. before I had no issues when on the VPN (in kali) .. but since I've come back, when I have the vpn going in Kali (VM Box) it doesn't seem to want to go outside the network.. like I can't get to google, google api's etc.. but if I drop the VPN all those are perfectly fine.. not sure if there's a route issue with the vpn, I am using the VM box from 2020.4, am currently downloading the 2021.1 box now.. not sure if anyone has had this problem.. I did a google search, downloaded the THM tester, but it said everything was working fine 🙂
