I have run into issues these past two days with the attack machine randomly going offline and not coming back online. This is the fourth time I've been in the middle of performing enumeration with a N. Virginia VM. Each time I end up having to kill the VM and start from scratch. Is there a known issue or are the VMs not reliable or have some theshold with activity (none of them have time expired, this latest VM was up for less than 10 minutes)

Use your own machine instead of AttackBox , AB runs in the cloud env , it has pretty limited resources and thus it's impacted by the level of traffic on THM/their CSP provider side

Hello, I having issues SSHing into machine in “Linux Forensics” room.
I can ping the machine. When I try SSH with [e-mail] (room machine IP) I am able to accept ssh fingerprint but get ‘Permission denied (public key) error….
When I try 10.10.10.10 I can see the vpn IP… any troubleshooting suggestions?

revisiting your original post, it looks like the THM web site (tryhackme.com) is behaving slow, which would not be related to the target VMs
the only thing I can think of is to test by disabling all your browser extensions (or switch to another browser without extensions), then clearing cache and reloading

REMnux: Getting Started seems to be crashing the browser tab entirely on safari, chrome and Firefox at least on ios
I’m not home to test on desktop unfortunately

All other rooms load and run fine, even rooms with multiple boxes running with my setting

Once the room loads initially, no webpage features function, the back button, refresh buttons do nothing and even entering in a different website doesn’t load. Only closing the tab or switching to a different tab

My theory is that the page is hanging on one of the steps/ tasks I’m on as I’m 61% through with the room when a server error shut down the machine I was working on

I guess it is a matter of comparing accessing THM infrastructure on AWS through THM VPN and using THM AttackBox hosted directly on AWS to perform the same tasks, or in another words, it is interacting either remotely (THM VPN) or locally (THM AttackBox) with target VMs

The LIBC addresses being leaked corespond to about 10 different versions of LIBC, which all have the same offsets for symbols like system and str_bin_sh. However, plugging these offsets into my exploit script don't work.

Looking online for writeups show that every previous writeup is leaking LIBC addresses where the offsets link to a completely different version of LIBC to what I'm getting. Even using the scripts from other people still leak the same values as what I'm getting with my script.

I'm unsure if the machine has been updated or something and it's messed up the intended version of LIBC. But it just doesn't work

there is no segregation between your machine once it is connected to THM VPN and all the other machines already connected, hence any users can poke at your main OS in dangerous ways
better is to connect to THM VPN using a machine that you can get rid of in case it gets compromised, typically a VM (like Kali) running on your main OS serving as a host

• you should land on a diffent network instance with different IPs
• if you land on the same network instance, leave again and wait longer before you join back
• regenerate VPN file and download it

No luck. It just did it again. The rest of the page is fine, but the Attackbox freezes. If I reload the frame or page, it goes to "Connecting" and then "Failed to connect to server". The only thing I can do is terminate the machine and open a new one.

My connection seems stable, and nothing is being blocked by my firewall.

thanks for that feedback, which does not surprise me I would think you would normally be better off with Europe (Ireland)
about that poor experience with the AttackBox that you reported in your original message, is that a change today compared to previous days?
have you changed something in your setup? in particular I would look at browser extensions (worth a test: a browser without any extension at all for a moment)
about setup, can you make a test through a different network? some users set up a temporary hotspot via their smarthone
also, check this (and possibly earlier messages) from earlier today: #site-support message This user had a better experience going through a VPN That is another option to test However, it is normally not recommend to stack VPNs, but as long as you use THM AttackBox, and therefore not THM VPN, that is a useful alternative I find

I don't usually have any issues with Attackbox. It's only been today.
No change in browser (Opera GX), no new extensions
Sadly, I have no mobile signal in my flat, so I can't try it on hotspot, but I do have a Remote Access VPN for work that I can test it on. (THM is approved, so no problem with doing so)
I can also try it with a Personal VPN.
I think I'm going to call it a day, and I'll give it a go tomorrow.

ok, agreed , after i use rsync to changed the env variable to dev , i could access the /admin
then i did a normal post req
and saved it as a file and tried to use sqlmap
but that also gave 500

It would be much easier to RDP into target if instructed to use .\Administrator username instead of Administrator because domain THM (thm.local) is very different than computer ADBASICS.

Connecting instructed way people got "wrong password loop" unnecessarily.

I do not know what is different when using .\Administrator, which indeed works too for me
however, I have been doing RDP many times into that box as Administrator without problem, with tools like remmina, xfreerdp or rdesktop from THM AttackBox
for instance, for xfreerdp, here are 4 different flavours in the screenshot
I would love to understand better about this topic, so please educate me on this
BTW: I have been able to do RDP from the target VM directory using the "Remote Desktop Application" (somehow Windows native RDP client), but that does not work for me any more

Difference is the domain part. When using attack box remmina and xfreerdp3 through openvpn, user="Administrator" tries to login as "ADBASICS\Administrator" and user=".\Administrator" tries to login using computer assigned domain thm.local, so it will be expanded to "THM\Administrator"

ADBASICS is the computer name and thm.local (THM) is the domain name.

$ xfreerdp3 /u:.\\Administrator /w:1920 /h:1080 /v:10.10.243.169 /p:Password321
Connects successfully but
$ xfreerdp3 /u:Administrator /w:1920 /h:1080 /v:10.10.243.169 /p:Password321 does not.
