There is something very wrong withe the THM Leader Board. Over the last couple of days, 2 persons coming out of nowhere have taken over spot 1 and 2, the former being listed with 150k+ points and being in 7 rooms. It just adds to my previous observation that since about a month some people are being listed as being in a 1000+ rooms while even with obsoleted and private rooms there is no way there can be so many.

First thing is I need to understand your hacking environment.
Your laptop is running on Windows; what are you using to attempt to access the VMs that the room setups?

There should be a button in the section of the room you're working on to "Start VM" or some such at the top of the section.

After clicking start machine, you have to wait a minute or two (upto 5 for some rooms) for the system to get setup by the cloud system.

When it's up, it should share the IP at the top of the page like this, and at various places throughout the explanation text.
What's running on that machine, and therefor available for hacking, will depend on what room and challenge you're working on.

What room are you doing right now?

And what response do you get from your web browser when you input exactly what it shows there? http://10.10.203.111:8080/flag.txt from the computer that is running OpenVPN? http://10.10.10.10/whoami should show you your OpenVPN IP address as a test case.

That's fair.
That's how web servers work.

Basically what you're experiencing is that the webserver on the target system does not have a default page. or "index.html" equivalent.

So you're reaching out to the server, but not requesting any resources from it.

Where as when you explicitly supply /flag.txt you are telling it "I want this file."

I'd need to switch to my other config over here completely to follow along.
The other thing you could run into, is if you don't include :8080 you will be reaching port 80 (the default web port) which could also be a source of issue.

But also; may just have been that you didn't wait long enough for the system to finish starting.

When in doubt I blame the browser.

Since you're using Windows. Open Powershell.

If that gives you the 401 error

See if that returns a bunch of HTML code or not?

Yeah I got my connection running. I see webpage HTML when I hit the page directly, flag.txt gives me unauthorized.
So that seems to be the gist of the challenge.

Again, since you're in Windows; things are bit different.
But if you are seeing your whoami page correctly; OpenVPN is working.
So something else is messing you up.

That should give us a list of your active adapters, their current states, and the indices.

So far I can see TUN adapter is up and running, and that their routes look equivalent to mine.

Just took SAL1 and I have encountered some problems. Both section 2 and 3 ended suddenly when I submitted few alerts. Section 1 ended while I had around 15 minutes remaining and second one around 40. if you have classified all true postive alerts, the simulation would end. if you miss one alert then you fail and get zero. at least that happened to me. so any other progress you make or classification won't count if u miss even one or run out of time.

A little strange system, as I wanted to revisit older alerts with spare time. That makes sense though, simulation ended when I submitted last alert I suspected to be relevant.

Anyway the problem of my exam not being graded persists.

I previously had a TryHackMe account linked to my Discord account on this server.
Due to security concerns, I deleted that old TryHackMe account and created a new one.
I left the TryHackMe Discord server before deleting my old account, then rejoined after creating a new one.
When I try to verify myself using my new TryHackMe account's Discord token, I receive the following message:
"Your Discord account is already linked with a token. If you wish to update your token, please contact a moderator."

It seems like my Discord account is still associated with my old TryHackMe account’s token. Could you please assist me in unlinking my Discord account from the old token so I can reauthenticate using my new TryHackMe account’s token?

Leave it there,
Once staff is online they can give you a free retake of the exam they told me.

So prepare to do SAL1 from the beggining

@weary vigil @upper ledge Sorry to hear that guys but I've already pinged Blackout multiple times. You should be aware that staff doesn't work on weekends and that they may probably in a different time zone than you so they might be asleep at the momemt 🙂 . Also they don't work 24h a day 🙂 . But don't worry they will come up with solution once they reach out to you.

In SOC simulator - splunk is also not accessible - it says Splunk does not support Firefox however my previous challenge attempt says otherwise.
