Hi, I have an issue in THM AttackBox, I need to modify a textfile with nano for a room, but when I want to save the modifications with CRTL+0 and quit nano with CTRL+X, it display 0 or X on the screen, it seems AttackBox doesn't take into account CTRL, SHIFT, ALT keys for shortcut in applications inside it. Someone can help me please ?

Technically, you can as you are running as root. However, it will revert to its base image after you shut it down. Also, as I noticed you are a subscriber, you have to be mindful as you have internet access in your attackbox which can lead to sending requests, scans or the like to the Internet.

And be mindful of THM's ToS as I seem to recall there is/are clause/s on Attackbox use.

I need some help.
I am running Kali Linux on VirtualBox and I have activated OpenVPN together with my personal configuration file. I do the following:
I check the processes to make sure it is running in my Linux terminal.
I get the "you are connected" message on TryHackMe.
tun0 shows that my IP adress is matching the adress it says I have been given on TryHackMe.
After doing so I deploy the machine and nada. I can't interact with it in any way. Pings dont work. Nothing does. But I should be connected.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I have tried another server and I have regenerated my config file. No luck.

Which box are you working with? Do note that in the case of Windows target, these do not reply to ping requests by default due to Windows firewall.

Also, if you can connect to 10.10.10.10 using your browser and it shows you your tun0 IP, you should be good to go.

To be honest...my suggestion would be not using WSL. The networking on it is weird, openvpn doesn't play too well with it

(I think especially WSL1, WSL2 is a VM so I think it's slightly better but still milage may vary)

If you want to use your device, I'd recommend it. You can also use the THM AttackBox which is in-browser, or you can directly SSH/VNC into it

there might be some articles out there on getting openvpn working on WSL, i'm not sure, I just know from experience and a lot of users that it doesn't really agree with openvpn

Hello, I am new to the world of cybersecurity and I am receiving training. I use try hack me for educational purposes. But my tryhack me attack box, which I always use, does not open. normally it would go from zero to 100 dollars and open. This used to only take a few minutes but now it says -3000% and the machine takes around 40 minutes to start up. I contacted support and they said they would update my account, but nothing changed. Just joined tryhackme with paid subscription... was working on my windows machine fine but saw that i should be using a VM so i am trying to use it through Kali on VirtualBox with Firefox. Can get into the website fine, When I go to Access... I am connected to OpenVPN on US-West-VP-1 (I'm in California) and I have an internal virtual ip address. So, I assume I should be able to connect to a room? Problem is I cannot connect to any room. I just get a blank webpage. I've tried numerous rooms and vpn servers (changed config file) but all are the same. Just a blank page. No spinning either. I've done a couple hours of research and fiddling but still nothing. I'm not novice with this but definitely not an expert. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Still get blank pages for any room I try to go in. Errors in the console are cookie related (missing recommended sameSite attribute, invalid eventBatchSize, invalid eventFlushInterval and TypeErrors: t-sizes is undefined . Not sure if that is helpful.

OpenVPN is such a pain to set up. I spent 6 hours yesterday trying to get it to work and nothing. On Windows, on Kali Linux, nothing. Surfshark connects fine, my work VPN connects fine, but OpenVPN just doesn't work. Is the firewall, ports on my router, something I'm missing? Not sure if you're using VM or attackbox, but if it's VM I've seen a lot of people trying to visit machine IPs outside of the "attack vector". Meaning, some people use their OpenVPN on a Virtual Machine, but try to access the room IP in their browser that lies outside of the VM. Wherever your connection to a THM room is, is also where you need to use the browser for a machine IP

Hi all, posted an issue in Room Help, but guessing this may be the place to put it. I just started the Wreath Network, prepared my kali machine in a VM and try to download the VPN config file from the access page for Wreath and I am presented with a 'Not Found' notification. I tried on a Windows machine using two different browsers, and on another linux machine with the same result. Can anyone assist?

I verified that I was having the same issue in both chrome and brave. Checked a room that I hadn't joined and the links for the walkthroughs were available.

Tried to leave the room and remove my progress to see if it would change which it didn't.

Have you tried to press Ctrl + F5 or clear cache before trying to access the room again?

If it's just walkthroughs you're wanting, while they are available on THM, they aren't exclusive to THM. Meaning, you can find walkthroughs for the rooms through any search engine that's worth it's salt.

Hello, I'm unable to deploy the VM in https://tryhackme.com/r/room/furthernmap. It says the machine has started, but I don't see it on split view, and there's no option to switch to split view.

You don't get split view on that machine, only certain deployable machines give you that option

Hi all! I'm a super beginner and I'm trying to use my own Linux VM (2024.1) (on VMware workstation 16) to connect/solve rooms ont tryhackme. I've set an OVPN connection with no issues on my Windows. But as soon as I tried doin it on the linux vm, I've started having issues. To begin with, I've got internet and it's running. It works on both "NAT" mode and "Bridge" mode with an without the replication of physical device. No matter the settings on the network section, I keep getting "tls error tls handshake failed" from openvpn
