Hey I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am wanting to use a Kali VM on my PC with OpenVPN instead of the attackbox but I seem to be getting some weird behaviour when completing nmap scans. The output between the two are different. The attackbox provides more output details vs the kali machine, so if I use kali vm it's likely missing the answer I need. I am working on the Network Services room - enumerating FTP

On VM1 add a user with the username VM1Group<Group Number>
VM2 add the user with the username VM2Group<Group Number> and install the software package openssh-server:
sudo apt-get install openssh-server
Using the ssh command you can connect from VM1 to VM2 using the username/password combination of the user on VM2.

Follow the documentation provided here to generate a new keypair.

Try connecting again with the ssh command from VM1 to VM2 but this time use a private/public keypair. You can find several guides on the Internet on how to do this. The private key is on VM1, the public key is on VM2. If all went well, you can connect from VM1 to VM2 without using passwords

That's not a problem πŸ™‚
It's only a suggestion, if the disconnection keeps on dropping, I would suggest that you do use an ethernet cable. We recently bumped the servers so the disconnection on our end has been reduced.

If you are on Work/ School/ Public WiFi or Mobile Data, I would also recommend waiting until you are home as they can sometimes interfere with the data you are transferring due to the nature of our website.

Hi, the machines attached to those rooms need to be connected to via SSH; this should all be explained in the first 2 tasks IIRC. You can use the attackbox to SSH into the machine with the credentials provided.

I need help!I launched a target machine on TRHACKME and obtained the IP 10.10.158.168. Then I opened a VPN and obtained the IP 10.13.21.153. I wanted to test the target machine using my Kali virtual machine, which is using NAT mode. I can ping 10.10.158.168 from Kali, but when I tried to ping 10.13.21.153 from within 10.10.158.168, there was no response. What could be the issue?

yeah, I'm having the same issue with starting the machines. Earlier I got a cloud-flare message on screen saying that the load balancer was not reachable (or something along those lines).
Does anyone know if there's a discord channel or a status page on the website where we can keep an eye to know when this problem has been resolved? So I won't need to keep checking the rooms or refresh the page to see when the problem has been resolved

Hello,

I am building a room for THM and I am facing some issues with IP addressing.

The initial foothold will be through a CMS. The problem is that when setting up this CMS - it requires a static IP address (which, while building the lab, it must be a local ip address from my network)

This static IP address will be used from users to go to this CMS and do the rest... Knowing that THM uses different sets of IP addresses, and my local IP address is not the same, how do I handle it? I am guessing that the solution here is to setup dynamic IP so everytime the instance fires up, it gets the new THM IP, but the CMS doesn't have an option for it

Hi there! I'm in the room Linux Fundamentals Part 1. After I click on Start Machine in Task 3, once it finishes loading, it just takes me to a blank page on the right side of the split view. I just realized after trying on three different browsers, with the same result, that I have WebRoot running and so I'm trying it again without that

I made sure to remove AdBlockerPlus from my Chrome browser, but the issue was persisting. So I tried accessing it on Microsoft Edge, same thing happened. Checked in the Console and saw that one of the errors mentioned something blocking access. I looked in my plugins/add-ons for the browser itself and that's when I saw WebRoot, which is for my whole computer.

But I wold check the Console in Developer Tools on your browser as well as any add-ons or plugins you use that block JavaScript and things like that

yeah.... shadows setup should be prone to breakages of a lot of websites.... the exception is if it has to do with firewalls or anti virus as shadow don't use a firewall and anti virus is not really an option on linux based distros

Hello can anyone help with this? I started the 'Breaching Active Directory' room and it looks like the start button is stuck/froze? I have connected to the VPN but I cannot get find the domain and I have tried to connect on the attack-box but I still cannot find the domain. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello. I am here regarding a question about the openvpn connection with tryhackme. I did plenty of researching in the past 3 days and still found no solution so I hope to find some assistance here. The problem is, that when I connect to the network (yes, I do get the 2 green check marks) I still cant type in an ip in my browser to see the website. (I tried with 10.10.10.10 like in the docs incase a room does not have one. I am on WSL on windows 10. I found an answer regarding this in the pinned messages, but at the bottom it said: This does not work for windows [...]. Is there a good solution to it? I have tried doing both dual booting and VMs but I always had problems achieving that. Thank you beforehand,

Hey I'm having some issues with RPD in the new Outlook NTML Leak. Not sure if here or #room-help is best but, I can connect using RDP fine but after a moment it disconnects with error [INFO][com.freerdp.client.common] - Network Disconnect!

Coming back to this issue re: Linux Fundamentals Part 1, while I am still waiting for a response from support, I did find something that I'm doing as a workaround for now.

If you'd still like to complete the room, the youtube video at the top of it will guide you through the exercises and give you the answers. I'm doing that.
Also, if you open up the AttackBox (it actually loads and works for me), you can use the terminal in the AttackBox to practice some of the commands. It's not going to be useful for getting the answers of course since its a different machine entirely from what I understand, but I used it to practice the commands just fine and that was helpful.

I just installed virtualbox on my PC, but I got an error starting the machine saying no hypervisor partition. I looked up the error and found that it was a BIOS issue, and the BIOS menu wouldn’t let me move my mouse or use my keyboard to change a setting. It also froze when I pressed ctrl + alt + del to exit the menu. I’m on windows 10 with an ASUS mobo. Is it safe to exit a frozen BIOS menu, and can I enable virtualization without going into BIOS?

i bit the bullet and rebooted the frozen BIOS menu. i didn't brick my PC and i'll figure out some way to enable virtualization. worst case scenario i'll stick with the attackbox.

I am currently doing linux fundamentals part 1 and I am on task 5, I start the virtual machine and it never comes up so I go toward the top after 30 mins of waiting and start the attackbox and that opens up and I see that the other machine I opened first is starting up but when it finally starts I can not enter anything its completely frozen. I've tried to use it with chrome and no luck I've also restarted my computer and it is still giving me the same issue. Is there anything I can do to resolve this so that I can finish the section?
