Hey everyone! I have a question about the Pre-Security Path (2026 Revamp).

I noticed that in the 2025 version, rooms like 'Intro to Cyber' were the absolute start of the path. But in the current February 2026 roadmap, I'm now at Module 4 ('Inside a Computer System'), yet the text inside the room still says 'Welcome to the first room'.

Is this just a leftover text from the old version before the 3 new intro modules were added? It’s a bit confusing for my focus/ADHD when the module numbers and room descriptions don't match up. Just wanted to double-check if I'm on the right track! Thanks!

I = Infrastructure - Where do you mount it including (Servers, Network, Storage, OS)
P = Platform - Normally used in cloud services, they give you everything mounted and you just focus on creating the software/apps
S = Service - (you just mentioned)

Hello, just looking for help in the "hashing basics" room, on task 4 "using hashing for secure password storage" looking at question 2. in the task it mentions crackstation and hashes, and for the question it gives you a hash to crack. I tried crackstation, and that didnt give me an answer and when i tried hashes.com, the website never loaded. From here i have tried hashcat, and john, but have had no luck.

I just completed Module 5 Operating System basics.
I feel like doing more than 3 rooms per day might be too fast and could reduce clarity.
Completing 3 rooms only takes me about 1–2 hours, including making notes.

because I think cyber security is closely related to computer networks and programming, so I also learned from Cisco's networking academy and basic web programming from YouTube besides Tryhackme to get a deeper context.

I also implement a study target system based on time, not on the number of rooms. For example, instead of aiming to study 2-3 rooms a day, I aim for 2-3 hours a day. This way, I don't rush through a room and can explore the material more deeply.

Im at the part where it asks to cat mission.brief.txt file but it says no file exists. I navigated all the way to archive folder, by following "$ find ~ -name mission_brief.txt

Hi. You were given the path to start in Pre-Security in the reources channel. Now its about diving into the rooms provided in this path to learn techniques and fundamentals. If you are not a premium subscriber you will come across rooms that you can't do. However, you can move to the next room or you can use the search box under the learning/walkthroughs and see if there are similr rooms on the topic.

Otherwise, you can do the rooms in the "FREE PATH" as posted on the TryHackMe blog. Its a start.

help i am stuck in find cli command saying no directory found

You did find the directory (in your command #1) which is /home/ubuntu/Documents/.research/archive/

What you also did:
(command #2) trying to see the content with the cat command. That failed because of 2 reasons:
a) you used ~ -name which are parameters to the find command, not the cat command.
b) you need to tell cat where is the file when you are not in the proper directory
Solution: try ||cat /home/ubuntu/Documents/.research/archive/mission_brief.txt||

(command #3) Your mistake on the third command is that you copy and pasted the command from the task but you also went a bit too far in your copy and included the command's response which the room's author meant to partially hide from you using keywords like REDACTED .

I don't know if the problem just occurs with me but in the Operating System Security room the machine doesn't start - even after waiting about 20 min .... no split screen opens, nothing. In other rooms no problem.

I think there is a little bug in this one 😛 You have to start the machine in the "Practical example of os security" section,l then go to the top of the page and also start the attack box. Hope this was helpful!

im in my pre security learning path in "extending your network" room in the "firewall task", The question asks "what layers of of the OSI model do firewalls operate at?" it is supposed to be answered in the number form and 3 dashes are given " _" . Now i asked for hint, searched the entire internet, even saw the video of this room and the correct answer is layer 3 and 4 but it is not accepting also it asks for 3 layers even though the hint itself only gives 2 layers(3 and 4)
