I don't know, the detached storeroom of the tavern doesn't really make much sense. You could still force players to 'round a corner' by having deep shelves, but it'd more be a big room than a detached hallway to a small room.

The idea of the mimic chest is to hide it with normal chests. A perception check exposing it either by a bit of drool or a weird ripple on the chest as you glance over it. Make the players slightly more aware that chests aren't to be taken for granted (not that they should be thinking that to begin with, but...).

Nice gold hoard I was going to do scorched earth with a bunch of rocks and have it all chared but it looked to naked so I threw down some more dirt and dried grass flock 🤷♂️ I’m still a little flat I need to work on that

That gold hoard was a pain, lol. I rolled some milliput into a cylinder and let it partially cure, then cut it into discs. I the let them fully cure before hot gluing them in piles and hitting them with a gold airburshing (clogged the airbrush no end, metallics are a beast). Then some washes and highlights

Here is me as a Dungeon Master, the inspiration came from the Critical Role Mighty Nein intro where Matt Mercer changes his face. Basically the idea is that the Dungeon Master is a changeling that has no face of his own hence the black featureless face. Well, mine doesn't really have super corporeal wings, it's just kind of extended shadow in a wing shape.
You can see that by how clear they are.
And it just looks cooler in general
At any rate, it looks infinitely better (in my opinion) than the movie Balrog, which doesn't really give the shadow and fire vibe I get from the book.
It's like, rock and lava in the movie...

Time to share one of my favorite PCs that I haven't had a chance to play out of a one-shot yet. This is my girl, Eris. She's a Great Old One Warlock with a bit of a twist. Eris started life as just some pink slime that called an old liar of Amaeraszantha home.
But Amaeraszantha left some gifts behind which Eris ate and it gave her sentience and a connection to an elder member of the Draconic Pantheon (individual patron deity TBD and will be based on the campaign locale) who takes a liking to her and her familiar thirst for amusement and knowledge.
She speaks mostly through telepathy as it's easier than verbal for her and while she looks human, it's merely the form she takes and likes. When she's tired or feels safe she's a pink, round friend.
My friend, Jin, did a wonderful job on this. 🥺

Well I can confirm that it is the latter, they're seriously incredible! I really can't recommend them enough, they even snuck in a chibi of my Open Seas Paladin and College of Swords Bard, Vesta. These are more general shots for them too, their work is so dynamic.
