Oh thank you! The game she’s in uses Final Fantasy resources so she’s a Lalafell Dark Knight. The world has children blessed by the Gods who have white hair. She’s from a religious town who are against the god who blesses said kids so her albinism made her the target of abuse from her family and the townsfolk. She broke one day and burnt her house down, killing her parents. A small cult found her and trained her in swordsmanship. She met the party because they were trying to stop her cult from dethroning the queen and convinced her to join them.

I need some help with my OC design. I’m working on a custom character who’s a tiefling, and her unique ability is controlling her own blood. The more blood she stores, the stronger she becomes. This is meant to be visually shown to the player: she grows hardened blood horns, her nails turn red and sharp, her eyes fill with blood, etc.
The problem is that this looks really bad with her current color palette (light blue and dark blue). For various reasons, I can’t change the palette. I’m not very good at drawing, so I ended up using a random silhouette that actually matches the palette pretty well, then just added horns and eyes on top to visualise the final thing before getting to 3D modelling.
Her outfit will probably be darker btw, but the overall color combo still looks kind of bad. I’m not sure what to change, making the blood color match the palette feels like a cheap solution, it could be that it looks bad because it lacks proper lighting and in 3d it would probably look much better (?).. but I’m stuck.

If you’re having trouble deciding on a colour pallet, you could always try designing the character in something free like Heroforge (the go-to) or even Gacha Life games? You could also do a hue shift on the parts you dislike and see what fits where

I think if the horns and eyes and other things symbolise the blood she has, they should be darker maybe? Blood typically has a richer tone to it than the lighter red you have curently

i’m so happy you asked this! i first got the idea to make this character when i read updated 2024/5.5e archfey warlock. having played pallocks before i was excited to experiment with the steps of the fey and from there i started developing the character by researching all the crossover themes between paladin identity and the feywild.

i really enjoy the courtly romance of old arthurian characters like gawain or percival, and the patron relationship + feywild courts seemed like a fun way to explore vassalage in that register. i liked the idea of a knight who was questing for a beloved, so there’s definitely elements of that for his character. a lot of those arthurian stories feature a supernatural patron, so this version folds that character in with the liege/love interest (basically imagine this story is about Lancelot but Guinevere, King Arthur, and Morgan le Fay are the same person lol)

i would say a midsummer night’s dream is another huge influence on the design of him and his patron (in my lore Oriel is the son of Titania and Oberon), and the dynamic Galvahin has with his patron borrows a lot of the comedic tonal elements of that.

definitely a lot of standard fairytale themes in there too (cinderella, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, pinocchio, the little prince, alice in wonderland, wizard of oz).

and honestly they’re also a bit of a pastiche of contemporary fairy romance novels like ACOTAR.

Okay, this is actually interesting. I love how you mixed the Paladin and Warlock sides with the feywild court stuff, that whole vassalage and romance angle feels Arthurian but twisted in a good way. The idea of merging Lancelot, Guinevere, Arthur, and Morgan is wild, but in a good way.

It also makes sense now why you brought in A Midsummer Night's Dream, especially with the tone and the patron dynamic. Mixing that with the kind of romance from ACOTAR creates a cool contrast between old fashioned and modern fairy tales.

I'd like to hear more about Galvahin and Oriel's relationship or how their story unfolds, a lot is going on there. Mind private messaging me? This needs a private lore drop, not gonna lie 😂

If the numbers are recessed, you don't tend to need to put something on top.

Acrylics are fine, though in my experience don't have great flow. I like using minature paint because it'll just flow into all the little crevices. But a lot of miniature paint is basically acrylic.

Hey everyone, I want to share a really ambitious project I’m working on, and I’d love your feedback. I’m designing a portable DM screen setup for D&D that integrates all my digital tools. Ive been using a digital Setup Table with a build in TV to show maps and 3 monitors for my notes and additional scenery for my players.
Here’s the idea: at the center of this folding screen, I wanna have a built-in laptop with a screen for my DM software (like Foundry). Then, there are two folding side panels: one side folds out to face me as the DM, and the other side folds out to face the players. The side facing me has another monitor for quick reference, and the side facing the players shows 3D scenery on a third monitor. On the back of the central panel, facing the players, I’m adding an ultra-short-throw projector that will project the battlemaps onto the table. The whole thing folds up like a case, making it super portable.

I’ve already mocked up a prototype in Fusion 360—right now, it’s still pretty rough. The laptop isn’t fully integrated yet (it is just added and can be folded out, idealy i wanna have it completly build in the dm screen), the monitors are just placeholders to show the concept, (in reality the dm screen panel will have to be thicker if i want to build in the monitors, else i could use portable screen that can be mounted on or off), and the projector is mounted on the back side but not finalized. I’d love to hear what you think—do you see this as a viable idea? I’ll upload some videos of the model aswell so you can see it in action. Thanks so much in advance!

i swear ive seen you before xD i do think your work is good but my main critic is the anatomy of her body, the foreshortening as the legs come forward and the angle of her knees, also something that might help with over all composition is a bit of rim lighting on the characters, so on the side of the tree there will be bounce light hitting their sides, so instead of shading to black on her legs there would be a dark long, then a slight transition to a orange hue, the colour of the podzol on the ground around
