the final boss im working on is rly interesting imo, bc he has certain parts of his body frozen, decayed, or rotting, but he's like in mid 30s, and a pale skin, VERY dark hair, and some parts of his clothing and body that are just fully dark, as if light didnt reflect from it.
lore behind it is darkmagic corrupted him, and then he got a teenie tiny bit of whiplash from harnessing so much power with a mortal body.

Any Tips for Maps

[median inlet]

For world maps, simplify everything. Never go overboard with any markers on the maps, otherwise you'll be stuck detailing for 10 hours on something you'll never actually get to see all the details on in play.

For battlemaps, choose function first, then style. Make your simple shapes. Tables and boxes are rectangles. Seats are a bit more circular or possibly even just smaller squares/rectangles. Then to make them pretty, stay within the general shape but now you can detail them a bit. As with world maps, never overdetail.

Guys over at #dnd-maps may give some better advice, but this is what's worked for me.

I don't have a history in any art tbh, I did do a lot of modding back in the day. So now I learned to sculpt, the thing that helped me most is understand anatomy and body shapes.
If you want to learn to make minis, best thing is to proportions,
example, irl the head is 1/8 of the body, in sculpting it is 1/6, so about 25% bigger. Weapons have an over-exaggerated thikness. At first it may look weird when sculpting, but once it is printed, it is just... good

Also, if you want to print them yourself, using FDM printer, don't spend too much time on details, shapes are more important

Setting up this boss to be a 1v1 between her and the warlock, while the rest of the party has to protect the citizens/prisoners of the town shes taken over from the many bandits

Some of the citizens and bandits seem to he under some strange trance of terror. Hollow shells of who they once were - willing to do literally anything Rayna commands them to do out of sheer fear.

Thats the plan. We'll see though. Im sure my artificer will just craft a nuke or something to flip this encounter on its head

My wife and I mass ordered a bunch of multicolored d20s, and used fabric glue to glue them to a canvas which we also attatched a tiny trim around (to help stabilize the dice.

We made a 2d mosaic dragon head out of d20s

So, I was thinking of picking up the book from the first image (or something similar) to create a sort of journal/puzzle book for my players to find. Then I saw the second image on etsy and thought it would be cool to make a book like the Necromancy of Thay. It would require each of the 4 pieces to unlock. Anyone have an idea on how I could go about creating a mechanism that unlocks the book when the completed emblem is placed on the cover? I imagine it would involve magnets.
It would probably be easier to create a box that the journal is locked in, but if I could create something small that's attached to the journal, that would be better.

Julius: All of them are man-made except for Rotom, which can possess man-made objects. Magnezone and Rotom are also electric types in reference to Julius' magic

Ghost: Galvantula, Ariados, and Frosmoth are bugs. Froslass, Weavile, and Frosmoth are ice types to reference his magic and the mountain he lives on. Mismagius is a wizard.

Ronan: Zoroark and Mewoscarada are thieves and tricksters in reference to his Rogue class. Meowscarada is grass type in reference to his Druid class. Mega Golisopod is meant to slightly resemble his pistol shrimp, with shiny Clawitzer being almost exactly like his pistol shrimp. Sharpedo is a reference to just how popular sharks are in media containing the ocean, and Goldengo is a reference to pirate gold.

Rowen: Trevenant and Sawsbuck are references to the forest that she grew up in. Mega Greninja is a reference to her Rogue class, while shiny Decidueye is a reference to her Ranger subclass. Ursaluna is a reference to the bear companion that a ranger can have, and Talon flame is a reference to Aeros.
