Dungeon Masters! I'm looking for some feedback if you will.
I’m working on a "ritual candle" designed specifically for Dungeon Masters to use as an immersion tool. You light it before the session, and the world starts to exist before the players even arrive. By the time everyone sits down, the room already smells like parchment, wood, incense etc.

Would you actually use something like this at your table?

Technically holy, referenced the hands off a real artwork, but that was because the gesture was best for showing magic.

I looked at symbolic meanings of gestures in manuscripts so I could find one that would also work with what I wanted, because the intent was not for it to directly be referencing holiness, but reference the style more than the gesture meaning itself.

Okay. We established that the Kopis and Falchion pretty much fall under Scimitar, but the designs I chose for both could be either shortsword or scimitar. Obviously the Gladius and Xiphos are shortswords. The swords in question are the Yatagan and Kukri

Kukri is both a sword and a knife, depending on the blade length, obviously. And started out as a sword before the blade design was adapted into a knife

They can do both, but from what I've seen, especially in movies like The Mummy, Ardeth Bay uses his Yatagan for slashing primarily

Or if we’re being faithful to the mechanics, a Kukri could be a reflavoured sickle.

They are resin, mica powder is one of the ways you can dye resin.

I prefer mica because it makes the dice look more solid and opaque whereas liquid tends to result in more see through dice unless you use an absurd amount and it's not cheap lol.

I’ve used references! I will say observing/studying from cinematic/movie shots helps a lot with the understanding of color in scenes. There’s a couple tutorials I watched but most I can say is figure out values/depth first and go from there! Color is a very fun thing to mess with

To achieve that look, I usually use black tea and carefully burn the edges with a lighter. It gives a super authentic 'ancient scroll' vibe

Downside is it will smell of coffee afterward though… kinda

If you live in an area with acorns, soaking them in some water overnight (or longer) will give you an excellent tannin for this kind of thing. (I used to darken paper a lot as a kid for some reason)
