So I'm currently in the process of trying to create a clockwork soul sorcerer, one of the features of it is that i can change out the spells when i level up, how do i do that since they aren't showed anywhere?
Currently, you'll need to make a homebrew copy of that subclass and change it there.
I cant link my Apple ID to my D&D Beyond account, how do I fix that?
Its making me sign in instead of linking the account
I would assume if you're not already signed in on Apple's end, they would ask you to do so to prove your ownership of the account.
DDB can't link it without the full account details directly from Apple.
I enter the Account menu, click on Link Apple ID, and it says "Sign in with Apple ID
I fill out the necessary spots, and it just sends me to "Page not found"
When it tells you to sign in, is that in DDB or on Apple's side? Do you have a screenshot?
What's the URL for that page not found?
Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
Hello! We tried to purchase the 3 Add-On Adventures of DoIP and always get a Internal Server Error with the advice to contact support.
But the german dndbeyond support page we were linked to doesn't work at all. There is no content, blank white in the middle part.
https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/de
What country are you located in?
How do I see what content is shared with me on a campaign my friend is doing with a Master subscription?
Do you get the same purchasing error in another browser, or on another device? Did it give you any kind of error code?
The DM can click the Content Management button at the top of the campaign page to see what books are included (and can optionally disable any of them from being read), but there's not a player-visible list.
Will the D&D Beyond emails be sent to both my Apple email and my Gmail account?
Good
They'll be sent to whatever email address is shown here.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/email-preferences
I'd suggest contacting customer support for this one, then. They should be able to take a look at your account and see what's going on.
https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
just to make sure, i just preordered the physical+digital copy of dragonlance, and my wizards account is connected to my dndbeyond account. so when the pro-order bonuses happen, i'll still get them, despite not ordering from dndbeyond itself, right?
The bundle includes a code which you'll need to redeem on D&D Beyond
ok
I know DDB's normal policy on UA, but will the One D&D content be different? Is there plans for it to come to the character creator before 2024?
Am I able to change that?
I'd need to do it via a Support Request - https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=6098987232148 - Please raise the request as Account Assistance > Other, and include username and both email addresses (and if you mention this Discord message, I probably won't get confused and forget 😉
Thank you!
So I'm trying to make a purchase on DnD Beyond, but I keep getting this ERROR: Gateway Rejected: avs-GATEWAY_REJECTED. I've double and triple checked my information to make sure everything is correct, my card works fine on other purchases and I really don't know what the heck is going on. I sent an email to the websites support but I'm wondering if anyone here knows what it is?
AVS is the address verification system so usually it means something in the address doesn't match the address of the card being used
But since you say everything matches up - potentially it could be the card's issuing bank rejecting it for whatever reason.
You might try calling your card's company and asking about it.
Or yeah, wait for DDB support staff to get back with you.
Yeah, AVS definitely means your bank has rejected the purchase because the address doesn’t match what they have on file.
It could be something as small as an extra space or a missing period.
Kay thanks guys, I'll look into it
Is there a chance that DDB will stop using 3rd party cookies? They're blocked and I can't even create an account.
DnDBeyond relies on third-party authentication services (Google, Apple, and in the past, Twitch) so it's highly unlikely that it will stop using 3rd-party cookies.
It is only Google login that requires them. If you dont use Google they can be kept off, or turn on to log in and then turn off again.
Can I create an account through DDB without tying it to some other platform?
I only see options for google and apple
No. From the start, it was Twitch authentication. Now they have other providers.
I find it odd that other things that use 3rd party authentication don't have this issue. 3rd party cookies are a significant security and privacy risk. That is why they're disabled
Google even understands this risk and is phasing them out over the next year and a half or so
Then don't use Google as the login method, use Apple ID or Twitch instead. Only Google's login process requires them. And is the only part of the website that does.
I don't have an option for twitch and I don't have an apple ID
As this is delving into account stuff, let me send you a PM
sure thing
We are aware that if you pre-order the Dragonlance Bundle and redeem the code that it doesn't show as purchased in the Marketplace. This is expected behavior currently.
Politely bumping this because I think it got lost amid the other questions today 😁
You'll likely find better homebrew help in #homebrew, if you can't access that check out #880965682462875679
Got it thanks 🙏
is there anyway to implement a custom ASI tasha thing to a HB race?
As in allow custom asi on a HB race I grabbed from someone else
Is there a way to transfer ownership of a character in one of my campaigns? One of my players quit and a friend of his wants to take over the sheet.
Or do I need to remake the entire sheet
Add a Racial Trait. Set the Feature Type to Replacement, and select the original ASI to be replaced.
Not without the cooperation of the player that currently owns it.
They'd have to visit the campaign page and click to Unassign that character.
Then the new player can use the campaign's invite link and select the unassigned character to join with.
I didn’t create the race, another player did
I’m asking if I could replace the asi they set with a custom one
No, you can't
They would need to edit the race to support the option
I have a question/issue but I did not see posting rules in the pinned comments as the channel description indicates. Brand new here lol
How can we help?
So I've been doing a lot of monster homebrewing/customizing with DnD Beyond so I can put them in the encounter feature. I wanted to add the roll button that a lot of standard creatures have for attacks and whatnot but the little dice button for adding that in the editing portion of the tool does not seem to work. Instead of a nice button I can click to roll to hit or roll damage etc. it's just the text that the little dice button inserts into the text box which is unhelpful and clutters the stat sheet. Was wondering if this is user error on my part or something else.
I noticed for sure that the text that the little dice button populates is far different than that of the text that exists for a button on a standard monster that already has the rolling button built into the stat block.
That suggest you're entering the dice expression incorrectly, perhaps missing out a bracket somewhere
if an expression isn't exactly correct, it will render as text rather than a button
I figure it's something like that but I'm not entering anything manually exactly. Can I share screenshots to show what I mean in this channel?
When you say you're not entering them manually, I assume you mean you're copying them from existing stat blocks? Because there's no automated input method
So this little dice icon to the right of the "align left" text bubble won't do what I was expecting?
That is for forum dice rolling, it doesn't make stat block dice expressions
You should copy an existing monster and see how the dice expression is written, it's very different from what you have there
That is good to know hahaha I will do more copy pasting then. That should work out better for me hahaha
Thanks for the clarification!
You can also find the documentation for [rollable] tags here, which is what monsters use:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/106856-adding-rollable-tags-to-your-homebrew-monsters-for
Earlier this year we introduced a neat feature to the Encounter Builder and Combat Tracker, that allows you to roll digital dice for pretty much every aspect...
Content sharing requires a master tier subscription
If I haven't signed into ddb for awhile how do I actually sign in now? My old sign in was not via a third party auth so my username is taken when I try signing in via those options since its creating a new account.
How do I get my old account, which is probably tied to my wizards account to be able to access ddb?
I would submit a request but it keeps directing me to the Japanese page from links I click on the English page
There has never been an option to sign in with a Wizards account, or anything other than Twitch, Google, or Apple.
If you mean the Content Management screen, yeah, the individual purchases won’t show there.
That screen lets you control compendium access (i.e. who can read the book). It does not restrict access to character options from those books.
It’s mostly just to stop people from reading ahead if you’re playing an official adventure.
With One D&D being a gleam in all of our eyes, I have a question about digital PHB content. I've been thinking about purchasing the digitial copy of the PHB (I own the physical one), but I haven't yet.. and now I don't know if I should go ahead and buy it (and content will be updated when phb is re-released), or if I should wait until 2024, because the updated phb would be a separate purchase
Nothing has been announced for that, I’m afraid. It’s anyone’s guess at this point.
As a third option, you can buy just the parts of it you need now, like a single subclass.
Whatever you spend gets credited toward the remaining cost of the book itself, too.
I figured it out, thanks
did you choose annually?
it defaults to that, thats why I ask
Please send in a support ticket. Thanks 🙂
(Moderators can't really do any more than direct you to support - support will be the ones who can actually help)
you can find you order history under the Marketplace tab
I can definitely sympathize with you, and I don't want to make light of the situation too much, but you have to admit there is at least a little bit of humor in the fact that you went from "$30? I spend more than that on cady at the gas station!" to "$60? I need that money to live!" In just 2 posts...
Let's not use this channel for general discussion please
understood
I don't see a phone number, but here is their contact information page, if you haven't see this already. It has an email address, at least

Customer support responds to tickets in the order they're received, Monday to Friday during working hours. If there has been an influx of tickets, responses may take longer
So... I've tried to order the new "digital bundle" for DragonLance. But the website will not allow me to complete my order (Reivew Order button is always gray).. Is this happening to anyone else?
The Dragonlance bundle isn't being sold through D&D Beyond so we're not able to offer support here, your best bet is to enter a support ticket
THanks for the link.. I surfed for quite a while and could not find a way to enter a ticket. Thank you.
How do I reset my animating performance?
Does dndbeyond offer the option to use the playtest One D&D backgrounds In the character builder?
Since it's UA, and UA isn't being added to the DDB database, no
But you can create it as homebrew, provided you don't publish it
So I can’t share the Spelljammer Astral Adventurer’s Guide with my players without also sharing the Light of Xaryxis adventure that I plan to run for them? Really?
how would i make a warhammer roll 2d8 for one handed damage? and 2d10 for 2 handed
feel it’s worth mentioning- just gave backgrounds a shot and it doesn’t seem you’re able to add any ASI or Feats to a background, as written in the UA- and in some cases the languages assigned to the sample backgrounds aren’t available to select (ex Thieves’ Cant)
all three have workarounds, but the new format isn’t compatible with DDB as-is
@modest pelican how often do they respond. The ticket I mean. I can't try to repurchase it because it's said that I already own it but it's not credited in Market Place.
The CS team responds to tickets in the order they're received and while they aim to respond within 2 working days (the team doesn't work weekends), high volumes of tickets can delay response
Thanks on this, very helpful.
What was your ticket number, i can take a quick look now (everyone look away, Im totally not looking at work things on a Saturday night 😛 )
PS: I think I found it, if it was the query about Strixhaven not activating after purchase.
gasp So scandalous, Sorce
Yes, you did. Sorry I didn't respond back! I was on a cab to the airport. TSA was a hassle.
Thanks for the help!
??
Changing the damage dice for weapons gets… tricky.
You might be able to create it as a magic item. Add a Modifier with Type: Damage, Subtype: Bludgeoning, Die Count: 1, Die Size: d6.
If that does work, I’ll bet versatile will handle the 2d10 on its own.
If it doesn’t work, you might have to do this as a custom action directly on your character sheet instead.
(Go to the Actions tab and hit Manage Custom in the top right corner.)
After adding the modifier described above?
Aww shucks
Then yeah, a Custom Action (or two) is probably your only option there.
Anyone know how to find the link to playtest the new software? I thiought it came out
No new software yet (the tabletop bit is still alpha). Only PDF rules for playtesting are available.
Thanks
When will the D&D Digital Play Experience begin playtesting?
This experience is still in early development. Everything we’ve shown is pre-alpha. We expect to start showing more to players with a closed beta later in 2023.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1310-faq-one-d-d-rules-d-d-digital-and-physical-digital#digital-play
when one dnd is fully released will we still be able to use the 5e charecter system and feats on beyond?
Everything that has been announced about One D&D is covered in the FAQ
If i disable my content sharing, can my players still use my character options? I want to block Spelljammer, but want to still give them access to the character options.
If you turn off the book in Content Management, yes, they’ll still be able to use the character options.
Content Management only stops them from reading the book itself.
Hello! I have some physical D&D books that I have, and I was wondering if I was able to redeem the content of the physical books on D&D beyond?
That's not possible I'm afraid, physical books don't come with a redemption code
Awesome thank you :D
That's unfortunate. I don't want to have to rebuy everything on D&D beyond, so it's a shame I can't use my physical books with my digital account...
The only way to get a combined book and code is with the Dragonlance bundles available through the Wizards of the Coast store; order one of the bundles and you'll get a code emailed to you
I'm trying to buy Death domain on its own, but i get a server error when I do
Is there an error code?
Strange. Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
Tried it on microsoft edge. It gives aame error
And doing it on Android's Firefox. Same error
I’d suggest using the link there to contact Customer Support, then. Hopefully they can look under the hood and see what’s going on.
I can't even contact support. i tried to make a wizard account and it asks for a consent cheq even though i'm 18+
Support tickets don't require an account. If you go here: https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=6098987232148
You'll be given a form to fill in, no account needed
Been a long time since I made a character, what does legacy mean?

hello! any mods around that can DM me for some help about sharing dndbeyond character sheets? I've got a few questions and don't really want to spam this channel with them 😛
Is there a way to add a dark gift (from VRGtR) to a player sheet or Is it a put it in notes sort of deal, looked around but couldn't find a way to add it
Is it possible to add an additional email address to your account? I ask because I joined using my Google account but would like the emailed newsletter to go to a different email address.
Spam the channel! That’s what it’s here for, and you’ll get a quicker answer that way.
There’s no official support for it yet, but last we heard they were working on it. In the meantime, you can probably add it as a homebrew feat (for private use only, though; please don’t publish it).
Coolio thank you
Emails are sent to whatever address you have listed here, separate from your login email:

Thanks! I'm looking to change the email address so I'll contact customer support.
My wizard player can't add Flock of Familiars to his spellbook for some reason?
Jk. I think I figured it out. He might not have all sources turned of the that character shee4t
Yeah, they need Non-Core D&D Content enabled at the very least.
how do I add a pet?
Go to the Extras tab on your character sheet and click the Manage Extras button.
The browser
A pet will be displayed in the app, but there’s not yet a way to add it directly there.
alright is it okay if you show screenshots since I literally cannot find where
what how
Does your Extras tab show something different? Or are you having trouble finding Extras to begin with?
Ah
You might be viewing the read-only public link for that character.
Try going back to My Characters and opening the character from there.
View
did it
its on the same screen
YAY
DONE IT THANKS
also how do I add hombrew content to my character
DnD/pathfinder what are ways to tame a monster?
This is the wrong channel for that question
This channel is for getting help using the D*D Beyond tools, site and service
You want #dnd-discussion (also this server is D&D only)
oh. ty
Hi there. I'm trying to make a custom character on D&D beyond right now and I'm trying to add proficiency in a firearm to my character sheet. I'm blind, and I'm not finding any way to do this. Any help?
You’ll need to open your character settings and enable Homebrew Content for that character.
Click the “Manage” button next to your character name, then you should see Character Settings in the sidebar.
Alright let's see if I can find that with my screen reader.
Sorry, that was in reply to someone else.
For firearm proficiency, you can click anywhere inside the Proficiencies & Languages section, then add a new proficiency in the sidebar.
Alright. The sidebar seems to be incredibly inaccessible, I can find where it is but not actually access anything in it... not easily anyway. I made it work for inventory management but we'll see
Ope. Got the sidebar to pop up. But can't add weapon proficiencies apparently, cuz there's no options in here
There should be a dropdown under “Add New Proficiencies”.
Ooooh wait I got it! I had to click on select an option for it to expand it! It works now! Now my cowboy dude can actually work! YES! Thanks! Do you know anyone I can reach out to about accessibility though? Kinda just chat with them about my experiences? I know some of my friends are doing it but
I’m happy to pass along any feedback you’d like to share. #ddb-feedback would be a good place for it.
Will use that, thanks.
We’ve also got a section on the forums specifically for accessibility feedback.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/d-d-beyond-accessibility
Awesome. Thank you!
anyway to add a resource counter to a homebrew subclass?
Add an Action to your class feature and give it a Reset Type. Then save it, edit it again, and scroll to the bottom to find the Limited Use section.
i did that, but its not showing up on my sheet, do i just have to wait?
Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes before they show up on your character sheet.
alright thanks for the help 😄
when i try to pick a feat for my character only thing that pops up is grappler anyone know how to fix that?
you have to own more of them on your dnd beyond account or be in a campaign with content sharing enabled
Makes since why i can do it on one and not the other thx
no prob take care
Are the Echo Knight, and the two new wizard subclasses not deemed official content?
from EGtW
They're official, they're just under the Critical Role content filter
I purchased the subclasses on DDB to play with in the character creator, but can't use them.
ahhhhhh thats why!
Hello.. why is it now embedding the character sheet not working/showing on discord?
The character sheet preview card hasn't been functional for some time since a major change to the character sheet service. The team is aware of this and potential solutions are being considered
How do I bring a character back from death saving throws? I press heal and it stays the same.
It worked via PC but the app is bugged I guess
It does appear there's a bug, you have to heal 2 hit points to clear the death saving throws rather than one
Is it possible to change the ordering of campaigns in the "My Campaigns" page?
It's not I'm afraid
shame. I was hoping it would at least be alphabetical, but it seems to be FIFO.
Uhm so are we allowed to post Google form links in the Campaign adverts?
I am guessing for personal surveys and such or form applications for your game? Those are fine. Also, #moderator-support is only for urgent moderrator help in case something needs our immediate attention.
Hey there,
I'm trying to create a homebrew subclass (warlock that has a wisdom based spellcasting ability)
How would I write the snippet codes for the following features:
Mental Master
At 6th level you have mastered three of your mental abilities.
- You have mastered invading a creature's mind. You can cast Detect Thought, as a bonus action, at will.
- You now can use your wisdom modifier for your armor class instead of your dexterity modifier (minimum +1)
- You gain the ability to move heavy objects with the power of mind. The objects cannot be heavier than 100lb. x your Wisdom modifier. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Also make sure to give an explanation what the link is for somewhere in your post. Links without explanations get deleted by us by default just to be safe.
There is a bug for the illusionist wizard, upon reaching 2nd level you are given minor illusion or another cantrip if known, though in dnd beyond it won't show you have minor illusion in the character builder, it will show 3 cantrips and wont let you add another (if one of yours is already minor illusion), the only way to get it to work is to remove minor illusion and pick another cantrip, it still wont show minor illusion in your spell book section of the character builder but it'll become present when you go to your character sheet. I was looking into homebrewing a feat or item because I couldn't get my extra cantrip, as it should be reflected in your spell book / character builder as well
Do i need to buy the hand book where the Artificer is to get it or can I buy it separately
Buying any artificer subclass will get you access to the base class.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/tashas-cauldron-of-everything
Alchemist, armorer, artillerist, or battle smith
Is it possible to playtest the new OneD&D races, feats, and backgrounds on D&D Beyond? Or does it need to be done pen and paper?
Is it possible to have beyond show/tell you where the various modifiers are coming from. I’m new so I trust the system but also want to be capable of doing pen and paper.
They’re not automatically available, but you can use the homebrew tools to recreate a lot of it. (For private use only, though; please don’t publish it.)
It does that in a few places, but not all. If you click on your armor class, for example, it will show what’s used in the calculation.
If there’s any specific numbers you’re curious about, though, I’m sure the folks in #dnd-rules or #character-discussion can help you figure it out.
I don’t remember exactly what it was. It was just something I ran into during the last session. Not the end of the world but figured I’d check if there was a setting or something
Safe to say there's still no way to edit base die of custom weapons in D&D beyond?
Correct
Have you tried adding it as a custom action directly on the character sheet?
My friend just bought a pack on mobile and we’re struggling to figure out how he can enable content sharing. everywhere I look it shows how to do it from pc but nothing about mobile, could someone help us with this?
I don’t think that functionality exists yet in the app itself.
But you can certainly do it in a mobile web browser.
Yes, but you can't edit the to hit bonus of custom actions. xD Looks like I'm creating a custom cantrip to use as a proxy xD
Perhaps a bad workaround, but- could you select a template weapon with the correct hit die and modify that?
Yeah. I was doing that at first, but it doesn't upcast :3
ah, rip~ I do wish it was a bit more intuitive to change certain properties about homebrew. I’ve had to look up how to do at least one part of every race/background/subclass/item I’ve tried to create~
need help atm
trying to add my DMs homebrew subclass
but despite me having all the material
it still gets the "This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass."
i tried looking at the issue and thought it was the spell lis
but the only spells on it are from the PHB and the basic rules
You don't need to publish the homebrew to sue it.
I don't?
Also, literally any spell outside of basic rules will trigger that warning.
even if you bought the content?
since the PHB is paid content, Hex is PHB for example, so mapping data such as granting Hex isn't allowed
What if someone else with a subscription adds that homebrew, but doesn't have the licensed content?
To use homebrew you dont need to publish - in fact we strongly recommend against publishing content. If this is a homebrew subclass your DM created, then they are the creator, so you cannot publish anyway, as you arent the original creator.
Everyone has the basic rules, so that's basically what you build on
My experience is that any homebrew content you create is available automatically shared with all characters which have homebrew content enabled if you are in the same campaign.
I own Explorer's guide to Wildemount, and have everything for character creation except Dunamancy spells. Why don't the spells show up?
is the character a wizard and has the correct subclass? The spells are specific to the two subclasses from the book.
That worked, so no other class of wizards can have those spells?
Thank you
Thats how those spells are presented and marked in Wildemount. Our Support Thread (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/59558-support-thread-explorers-guide-to-wildemount) for the book, has details on how you can create homebrew versions to allow them for other classes (of course with DM's permission).
ok thanks
Is it possible for DMs to lock character editing in campaigns?
I don't believe that's possible because the characters are stilll owned by their creators.
Yep, the system is designed so the person who owns the character has control over editing it in addition to the DM
Would be nice to atleast lock ones that are involved in campaign groups though
What would be the use case for such a feature?
Just so I've got the most info possible to pass on as feedback (the "why I want this" can be as valuable, if not more so than "what I want")
@modest pelican you ok if i DM you?
Can I as an European buy stuff from DnD Beyond even though the transaction will be done using USD?
Yep, you just may have to pay any additional taxes and conversion fees depending on your region
Alright, thank you, because I plan on buying some Spelljammer stuff and the PHB for my birthday
Nice!
You want #homebrew
If you can't see the channel, you'll need to head to #880965682462875679 and select the appropriate role
thanks!
Does anyone know why I can't publish my homebrew? It's saying the monster/item is too similar to another monster/item but the monster/item they mention is a broken 404 page and I can't find any context anywhere to it even in google searches...
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/1733567-channons-wolf
https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/27069-delete-moon-touched-longsword
This is a known issue. Can you try saving again from the main page of your homebrew?
Is there an API I can have a bot I write use to manage items and gold on players in a specific campaign?
I'm hoping to set up a discord bot that automates shopkeeping for some specific items.
Seems that the cantrip "booming blade" is not working for sorcerers.
It does not show any "to hit" number or "damage dice" under spells.
It works for wizards though.
Does not show correctly on webpage or on android app (tested on several mobile devices).
(this time i managed to post this in the right channel XD )
as shown here
I believe it’s showing the damage on the initial hit, not the secondary damage
Try looking at it when you are level 5, that’s when the initial hit deals the d8 as well
OH, ofc. I did not even think about that cause all my other chars with it are lvl 5 plus. Thanks a ton 🙂
No problem!
DDB does not have a public API, I’m afraid.
Do you mean recreate it? Or Edit and then Save again?
I have tried Edit and Save again and it still wont publish...
The other thing I would try is to expand any fields you have put text in, especially if you copy/pasted parts of them from somewhere else.
But wouldn't that give me an error about having external fields etc right?
My issue is it's saying it's too similar to a monster/item that doesn't exist
(Which is why I was trying to report a bug in feedback, since this felt more of a bug than me not understanding the site)
The links I shared here are the links the site is claiming my monster/item is too similar to
When you click them they bring you to a 404 page
Channons Wolf isn't even a thing I can find anywhere online reference to either
I did find a post in the forums though mentioning someone else having the same issue... so i guess it is unresolved??
This is a known issue as Arenlor mentioned. You can sometimes resolve it by saving you homebrew again, forcing the automoderator to re-check it
Is there a policy on browser automation?
I've had this since July and it's been the same. Unfortunate.
Where do these non-existent links even come from?
The D&D Beyond terms of service can be found here: https://company.wizards.com/en/legal/terms
It's the system flagging your homebrew against other peoples homebrew
Automod has to parse so much homebrew data (not just published stuff, but everything made by everyone) that sometimes there's a 'collision' of data checking where it compares two pieces of homebrew instead of homebrew against the checklist
My desire is to allow players within my campaigns to allow a discord bot I make to manage a shop - partially limited inventory that the bot would track, and it would handle the purchase (if enough coins exist, remove the gp and add the item to their sheet).
Avrae does not support editing inventory, so I was hoping for some api I could access. This would be limited to characters within campaigns I am a DM of.
Is there any way I could implement this?
I don't know, I don't have that kind of technical knowledge. All I know is that D&D Beyond does not have any form of stable, public facing API intended for general use and that the terms of service of D&D Beyond prohibit certain forms of data collection and site manipulation (scraping for example)
without violating ToS of course
Do you know where I could ask someone with the required knowledge? Without pinging random ddb staff, of course
As I've mentioned, there is no public facing, stable API intended for general use. As such, there is no one you can speak to who would be able to help you with this
It is something simply not supported by D&D Beyond, I'm afraid to say
Ok. Thanks for your time.
So I've actually got a question about a future product and I'm not sure if that should be asked here, the d&d discord or elsewhere, hopefully I've got it right. So we got the cool deluxe edition bundle over on the dnd site, is there digital content/a dnd beyond release for Heroes of Krynn or JUST for Shadow of the Dragon Queen? Kinda important to actually be able to understand what it is I'm considering spending over a 100 bucks on, because it's not exactly very clear what's being offered here.
Heroes of Krynn sounds like it’s gonna be a board game. Hard to emulate board games through D&D Beyond, so I’m hard pressed to believe it’s gonna have a digital version.
D&D Beyond is primed to support exactly what it’s designed to support. And as of right now, board gaming ain’t it.
At the very least, there has been no announcement that Heroes of Krynn will be available on D&D Beyond. Shadow of the Dragon Queen, however, is currently available to pre-order.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/adventures/dragonlance-shadow-of-the-dragon-queen-digital-pre
Seems very antithetical to the prospect of One DnD if that's supposed to be used for mass combat, which is why I was hoping they'd have something for that. So mass combat will be exclusive to irl tabletop settings only and stuff like tabletop simulator etc., that's a shame =( TTS suuuuuucks
hey i have a question
a double bladed scimitar is a valid weapon for the revenant blade feat right?
how come then the benefits dont translate to it in the attack section when equiped?
Since feats can’t detect what items you have equipped, that one was set up as a separate item. Try searching for “Revenant Double-Bladed Scimitar”.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/218255-revenant-double-bladed-scimitar
ah i see
and i assume theres no way to tag it to do so
but another quesiton i have is i did add that weapon, but its bonus action special property doesnt show up in bonus actions
unless its just implied
You can add it as a custom action if you’d like.
Head to the Actions tab and hit “Manage Custom” in the top right corner.
if ive got all the books and additional features to create classes such as hexblade warlocks and stuff and my party of first time players dont. I can share the character sheet but they cant tweak it, i thought if i had the master subscription i could share my content with them?
Are they trying to make/edit a character in the campaign that content is being shared through?
trying to edit a character, im not 100% sure how to share the content ive bought with them
here's the situation, my friends paladin has lvl'd to 2. im trying to get him to choose 4 level 1 spells to prepare, he can view the character sheet on the app but can't select any spells from the known spells list
If you have a master tier subscription, you need to enable content sharing in the campaign that their character is in
Go to the campaign and click the 'Enable Content Sharing' button
perfect, will give that a try. thanks
It also sounds like the character sheets might still be assigned to your own account, which would prevent them from editing it entirely.
If that’s the case, you’ll need to work together to get those sheets transferred to their accounts.
once ive shared the content with my players they'll be able to access and re-create their characters with the additional content then i imagine?
That would also work, but you can just give them the sheets they’ve already been using, too.
amazing, there's so much i can do 😍
- Make sure the characters are added to your campaign. You can use the invite link at the top of the campaign page.
- On the campaign page, click to Unassign each of those characters.
- Send the invite link to your players. They’ll have the option to claim one of those characters for the campaign.
That will transfer the character to their account, but you’ll still be able to edit them as the campaign creator.
how do i add a pre-existing character to a new campaign?
You can use the invite link at the top of the campaign page.
got it
the campaign tab is amazing, i can slot in encounters here as well. Thanks for the help, im going to spend some time tinkering with dndbeyond now! ❤️
On the spells tab, it says HIT/DC, however, some says the modifier such as +6, etc but some say dex16 like burning hands and some say nothing like magic missile. Do I still roll a D20 or is it an automatic hit, what do they mean?
they're shorthand for stuff like fire bolt being simple attack +6 to hit deals a d10 fire, and burning hands being dex 14 deal 3d6 fire make sure to read the description for half on save
In any case, literally just reading the spell solves basically all issues. Like magic missile. Each dart will deal damage to an enemy, no attack or save.
So, would even though its a dex saving throw, would I still have to roll the d20 for a hit? And if it says nothing, would I still roll a d20 and add on my modifier?
And if the spell such as scorching Ray already has a modifier on +8, do I still add on my spell modifier as well or no?
For spells that only ask for a save you havebto only roll damage if applicable. Saves are made by those who are hit by them. If a Spell shows already a + to hit on it then it already has all bonuses applied to it and you don't have to worry about it. Just add that + to the d20 roll on the hit and you get your rolled value.
And if it has no modifier or no saving throw, do I just roll damage?
If you click on the spell name, you’ll be able to see the full rules for that spell.
That’s the best place to find out what any specific spell expects you to do.
I actually made a mistake with spells the other day in a session. I thought you had to roll attack on them, and then a saving throw
our druid cast entangle on a troll and I mistakenly thought she had to roll attack, but looks like she gets the spell off without problem and the troll has to roll save
I guess in my mind, there was a chance she could fumble the spell and a chance that the troll could avoid the spell, so that called for two rolls
This channel is for technical support for DnDBeyond applications and services. You probably want #dnd-discussion or #dnd-rules.
Did the DDB version of a VTT disappear? I'm no longer seeing it.
DDB has never had a VTT - only a rough "we'd like to build a virtual play space" idea the devs occasionally noted.
here we are...
We're doing a thing where we can upgrade to the next dice level. aka go from 1d6 damage to 1d8 damage.
Mine is a hand crossbow. How do I create an item that is a hand crossbow with 1d8 damage???
Use a weapon with the needed base damage type, reflavor as a hand crossbow
That's what I ended up doing. i thought there was someway to start from scratch and adjust all of the ranges an properties, but there isn't...
Yep - the devs know it's a desired feature to be able to create custom items and weapons with custom damage dice.
You can also try creating those as a custom action directly on the character sheet.
Go to the Actions tab and hit “Manage Custom” in the top right corner.
@edgy oriole has that been removed?
Has what been removed? The goal of building a VTT? I have no idea.
During Wizards Presents last week, they showed the D&D Digital Play Experience, which is in early development but will serve as a virtual play space that’s integrated with D&D Beyond.
• https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1310-faq-one-d-d-rules-d-d-digital-and-physical-digital#digital-play
Although with WoTC owning DDB now and with the recent One D&D announcements... yeah what spamandtuna said
I was given plate armor that does not have disadvantage on stealth checks. Is there a way to remove said disadvantage when I create this homebrew item? I have the following modifier on the item “Stealth disadvantage - Remove” but it still shows that I have disadvantage
That should be the right one.
If you added it in after, it might just be caching. Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes before they show up on your sheet.
Or you might need to remove it and readd it to that character.
If those don’t work, I’d suggest making a homebrew copy of mithral armor to see how that one was set up.
helo i need help making a monk caster.
i want my kensei to cast spells like wizard.
i homebrew kensei monk. can cast spells.
but i dont see nor able to select any spell list i can manage on sseet
what else did i miss
i also dont see any spell slots 😦
turns out u need to Add specific feature called 'Spellcasting' for spells list to pop
ok so why is the monk limited to known spells instead of learning spells like wizard?
the website ist working what can i do made a character but i whount let me finsh
What part of the character creation problem is having issues and what exactly happens?
iv had it completed then i edited it chaned my strength and now it say i have no race ,class or abilitys
So you've started making a character
Gone to the character sheet
Gone back in to the builder
Edited your strength
And then it's cleared all your choices?
(Just so I've got the steps down right)
no there there just not restering
Sorry, what do you mean by 'resterting'?
like its not noticing them
Can you link me to the character?
Give me two seconds
ok
That character is complete with all options selected
ok thanks
No, I didn't do anything?
I'm not seeing the issue you reported
"now it say i have no race ,class or abilitys"
oh on my end it was not leting me finish
You said it was
"iv had it completed then i edited it chaned my strength"
Well, if it's working that's all that matters
So in ddb race creation, anyway possible to give extra natural ac for my crab person?
aren’t all PHB classes/races available to all players on beyond, even those who haven’t spent anything on there?
No
Drows for example are not available
Coders need money too, sadly it's not all free
Yeah but some things are free
I am very certain that PHB is one of the free books we get
the basic rules
one subrace for each race that has them, one subclass for each class (besides artificer)
Oops, sorry
Anything in the Basic Rules is available for free. It contains a specific selection of content from the PHB and DMG.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules
Depends on what exactly you mean by “natural” AC, but I’m betting you want a Modifier with Type: Set, Subtype: Unarmored Armor Class, Fixed Value: 3 (or however much you want to add beyond the default 10 + DEX).
And/or select an Ability Score there to add that instead (like WIS for Monks).
Hello! I am working on a WIld Magic Sorcerer Subclass and was trying to do a couple of things that I was struggling with. I thought I might jump in here for some help. First- I already have the table that I want to use written, is there an easy way to import it into the description? I was having issues trying to quickly replace the as written table with my new one. Additionally I was hoping to have a button on the sheet that would roll a set of dice, that would happen when you need to roll a surge check. Any advice?
I recognize I could just use 2 d10s, but it seemed weird that in "actions" I couldn't include a d100.
For more detailed help I'll direct you to #homebrew, but I believe if you want to have an alternate Wild Magic table the best you can do is make it a subclass feature and manually type out/paste your alternate table into the description of the feature for whoever uses it to reference(the homebrew system isn't my strong suit, so asking the folks in the linked channel to be sure is your best bet). We might have a way for you to attach dice rolling, but I don't know for sure.
Ok Thank You!
Been having an issue with content sharing where players can't select races they don't own even though I own the race and have it enabled for sharing. I as DM can edit the character and select a race for them but I'm not sure why it won't let players select it on their own
Are they building those characters inside the campaign that has the content sharing enabled? Content sharing only works within a campaign.
They are, yes
I wouldn't be able to edit their characters for them if they weren't in the campaign
Another thing to check is have everyone check their DDB profile and make sure all entitlements are in sync.
That might be something to check, yea. There's an option for that somewhere?
Yeah - go to the user profile, select Account, then click on the Marketplace tab. Their is a section at top that will say if entitlements data is in sync or not - if not there should be a button to resync them.
Okay, has anyone else had trouble logging in if their old Email was connected to a yahoo email rather than a google account?
I am really worried I'm gonna lose access to everything on my account since it's only linked to discord and a yahoo email and whenever I try to sign in on a different browser it says it 'can't find the google account' it's associated with
how do i add homebrewed magic items to my character sheet in my campaign?
You’re stilled signed in on at least one device, though? If you go here, it should show what Google, Twitch, or Apple account you’re linked to.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
But there’s never been an option to sign in that wasn’t Google, Apple, or Twitch.
Make sure you’ve enabled Homebrew Content in your character settings, then you can add it just like any other item.
👍
How does the 15% discount from buying the legendary show in the marketplace? I can't see it when I'm looking at my cart or directly within the marketplace.
It should show in your cart as long as “Purchase for myself” is selected. The discount does not apply to “Purchase as a gift”.
It will also show directly in the marketplace for any books you don’t already own.
Whereas books you do own will be shown at their normal price (i.e. the amount for a gift purchase).
I see! Thank you very much!
Are search results limited to just 35 entries? I was trying to search monsters with a specific keyword in their statblock and I'm almost sure more than 35 monsters have it.
Yes but when I try to use the email it says that account is associated with on any other browser or device it tells me it 'can't find that google account'
I believe so, on the website. I’d suggest trying in the mobile app instead. Go to Search, type what you’re looking for, then filter it to Monsters results.
Just to clarify: on this page it shows an @yahoo.com email as your linked Google account?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
And you get this error when you use the linked Google account listed there to Sign In With Google?
Is there error shown on a D&D Beyond page, or a Google one?
Is there a quick way to add a monster to the combat tracker mid fight? I know I can add a custom entry but I can't seem to find a way to add another monster with stats without leaving the screen.
YES, and it's on the D&D Beyond page
and I'm using the one from this page
Are you able to sign into Google elsewhere using that address?
No
Years and years and years ago yall didn't have this Google Account nonsense and it was just based on regular email and password signin, why would anyone ever change from that >:|
I " >:| " at you, sir or madam.
DDB never had signin that wasn't through Google, Apple, or Twitch.
But if Google won't let you sign in anywhere, you may need to contact them for assistance.
Alternatively, you can use that page I linked above to link to a different Google account instead and use that to sign into DDB instead.
Or add an Apple or Twitch account and use those.
It says the other google account I have is connected to a different account, which isn't possible, I only have the one DDB account :P
What happens when you try to sign in using that account?
Hey all. I've noticed that when DnDBeyond exports to a pdf character sheet, it doesn't export contents beyond the size of text boxes. It'll generate extra pages as if it knows it needs to put stuff there, but doesn't actually put the extra information there, the pages are blank.
Am I doing something wrong when exporting to pdf?
Okay, so... for some reason that one works and the google account it displays is just... not the yahoo email? Thank you though, this seems to have resolved the issue.
Is it a known issue?
It's an issue with how PDFs render text when generated via another program and is an issue with the PDF format, not DDB specifically
If you go into an overrunning text box as if you were going to edit the text, but not make any changes, then select off the box, the text should scale normally
Oh, I didn't mean missing some extra characters. If you have a level 3 artillerist artificer, the actions box ends just after the first eldritch cannon bonus action. The rest of the bonus actions and other information just cease to exist anywhere on the pdf. Like it isn't just stored outside of view in the text box. But the additional sheet is created as if it's there to take in the extra information.
When a level 1 fighter is made and the action box isn't full, the extra page isn't created.
Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. My apologies
No problem. And thanks for responding. If the information just wasn't displayed but existed in the text box, it would be annoying but possible to cut and paste it to the extra page. But the text just ends.
I'll try and pass this along as soon as I can
Likely the extra is being trimmed and stored to put on the next page, it just isn't being referenced properly for output. The extra page does mean its being detected.
Thanks for passing it along. There's so many moving parts to a giant database like this, there's bound to be some hiccups along the way.
Hey all, i had a question. I was looking to pick up some more content for me to use, but i saw there was a option to buy only parts of the sourcebooks. If i buy a section of the book and then later decide i want the full book. Is the full book still the same price or is it reduced by the price of the sections i purchased?
The book price will be reduced by however much you spend. 👍🏻
So if you spend $2, the price decreases by $2.
Howdy, I purchased Xanathar's Guide to Everything to everything a while back and I am trying to create a character using a sub class but none of the sub classes are showing up in the character creator. Any suggestion how to fix this?
I've found a few forum posts but nothing else. I'm guessing we still don't have a way to track an AL log sheet in DDB?
@vapid python What subclasses are you trying to use?
@glacial gust That is correct, D&D Beyond doesn't offer AL log sheets
I've tried the barbarian and druid
Which subclasses specifically?
Path of the Ancestral Guardian and Circle of Dreams. The issue is that no sub-classes show up during character creation.
If you go here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/xanathars-guide-to-everything#:~:text=Path of the Ancestral Guardian
Do you see this:
That's not the subclass menu
That's the optional class feature menu that is only populated if you purchase the full book of Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
You select your subclass on the Class Features tab at the level appropriate for the class
Here?
Yep, see how it says 'Circle of Dreams'?
For Barbarians, that happens at level 3 under "Primal Path".
Thanks I was expecting it to show up in optional features.
Subclasses are not an optional feature
They're a core feature you must pick for your class
Now I am curious what is an optional feature 🙂
As mentioned, they are optional rules for classes found in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
They either add to or replace the standard class features.
Worth it?
That'd be more of a question for #dnd-discussion
Hey, I just downloaded the D&D Beyond app for Android, but I can't find the option to turn off dark mode. Can someone help me?
There isn't an option to do that yet
Oh... Understandable.
I’ve got a buddy sharing content with me. Are races not included? I don’t have the options to build a Harengon though he’s shared both books that include it with me.
Races are indeed included. Is your character assigned to the campaign that's sharing that content?
I cannot get any virtual dice in DnD Beyond via Chrome. This worked last week just fine. Refreshed and cleared cache and still no virtual dice. Please help.
Ad blockers, third party extensions can interfere with normal DnDBeyond functionality.
Also make sure to enable hardware acceleration for chrome - the 3d dice engine makes use of it.
I appreciate this quick response. My guess is the newest Chrome update interferes with this. Awesome (sarcasm)
More likely it turned off hardware acceleration for whatever reason.
I double-checked Site Settings in Chrome and even changing everything to "Allow" does not bring back the virtual dice nor the clickable buttons that would initiate dice.
Hardware acceleration is still on, so that is not the culprit.
Hmmm. Are you using a VPN that might provide “enhanced” security? Stuff like that can break things.
Also check the browser dev tools console and see if there are any errors being reported.
No VPN. No settings are different than last week (we play Friday nights). Still possible that the latest Chrome update ruined it; can anyone confirm this?
Thanks for the help everyone. After looking in Dev Tools and not seeing anything, I give up and will just go buy some real dice instead.
Is Dice Rolling still enabled in your character settings?
He is
If you go to this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
so i'm trying to create a custom whip in the homebrew item tab for a party member that does an additional 2d4 damage... my issue is that it works and rolls the full 3d4+Dex for me, but when someone else tries to help test it, it only rolls the 1d4+Dex, anyone know a fix for this?
Honestly, I’d expect it to only roll 1d4 for you as well. I’m betting you’ve got some extension that’s modifying the normal behavior of the site.
Typically custom actions work better for changing the base damage of weapons. You can set it up directly on their character sheet by going to the Actions tab and hitting “Manage Custom” in the top right corner.
just the R20 extension for Chrome
so i brought the astral drifter background from the marketplace to use it on my character. but when i put it on my character it didnt give me the magic innitiate feat and there doesnt seem to be a way to add that manually.
i cant add the spell manually either.
does anyone know why that happens/how can i fix that?
For now, the expectation is to add the feat manually on the character sheet itself. Go to the Features & Traits tab, scroll down to the Feats section, and click Manage Feat.
Beyond20?
Yeah, that's not supported by D&D Beyond and can cause the site to behave in unexpected ways
like rolling 3d4 on custom homebrew weapons? 🤣
just tried it, the feat doesnt there either though.
these are all that i see.
Are you able to access it here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats/magic-initiate
If you don’t want to buy it, your best bet is making a homebrew version
Heya, if I was just to purchase the Races from the Spelljammer book, does that allow myself and players when using my subscription to use them in my campaign?
If content sharing in that campaign is enabled (which requires someone in the campaign to have a master tier subscription and the dm to enable content sharing on that campaign)
i brought it and it appears now
however
i still cant add the spells to the sheet
doesnt let me add cleric spells
You should be able to select them there inside Manage Feats. Just open up the Magic Initiate (Cleric) you added and it’ll let you choose.
Hello guys, i need help :c
when i roll in dndbeyond, a 3d dice falls in the screen. My pc its trash and it took forever to show the result of the dice
How can i disable the dice animation?
You can't, they're not just animations, but actual physics simulations designed to produce randomness
Hi everyone, here is my problem. I bought some times ago the list of magical item of wildemount on dnd beyond ( not the book, just the magical item). But now they ask me to buy the book to have access to thing i already bought... . Someone could help me ?
I just saw the growth sale and I'm considering making a large purchase if the sale price applies. The bundle says it is 19% off per the screen shot. I only own the PHB. Is it factoring in both my owned PHB and the 15% sale price? Additionally, is this discounted applied the same way to the Legendary Bundle? I had always assumed that the Legendary Bundle inherently had a discount attached to it for buying in bunk. Is that correct? If not, how does the sale work for the Legendary Bundle?
Idk if this is the right channel to post this
But i got D&D Beyond Master on my phone but it doesn't show on my pc
QQ I know that you acess DND One Content Via the DNDbeyond website, but does DNDB support us making characters with the new DNDB rules or no?
Not yet since the new rules are preview and not final
Right but...I want to do playtesting things but I use DNDBeyond for most if not all of my sheets, and I thought thre might be a way of acessing it on DNDB because thats where you find the pdfs and stuff
You can use the homebrew tools to try and recreate the rules (just don’t publish it) but otherwise there isn’t an official DDB version of them.
Ah ok
D&D Beyond does not support Unearthed Arcana and, essentially, that is what the One D&D Playtest materials are.
Can you give a specific item as an example? Is there a checkmark next to that item here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/explorers-guide-to-wildemount
The Sourcebook Bundle’s normal price is 10% less than what you’d spend buying all those book separately.
That price is now 15% cheaper because of the sale.
And then it subtracts the dollar amount you spent for any content in that bundle.
The Legendary Bundle works the same, except it’s initially 15% less than buying the book separately.
Those bundles also get you a permanent discount for any new books added in their category: i.e. a permanent 10% off any new source books if you own the Sourcebook Bundle.
When you say “on your phone”, is that in the app or in your mobile web browser? Have you checked that you’re signed in to the same account on both devices?
What does it show here under Subscriptions?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
How do I turn off roll notifications from other players when I view sheets that are in a shared campaign?
so in other words, the sale does not affect the Legendary Bundle bc it was already at a 15% discount?
No
This particular sale is simply for select items. How that selection was made, I don’t know.
ahhh, I see. Thank you for the details 🙏 Looks like I'll still be waiting (hoping) for that yearly sale for the Legendary Bundle then. I remember on CR Sam saying it normally goes on sale about once a year a while back
It’s definitely been on sale before, yeah.
I don’t know when (or even if) it will be on sale again. That’s all above my free, free paygrade. 😛
But for any book content you buy now, the dollar amount you spend will be subtracted from the remaining price of the Legendary Bundle.
Yeah! I'm def still considering the Sourcebook Bundle. I've been playing since 2018 so it seems like that'd be a good move for me and my players
I don’t believe there is an option for that, currently.
Other than simply having the players set their roll visibility to “Self” instead of “Everyone”.
Is there a way to turn off the game log as a whole? Maybe the DM/person who owns the campaign can do it?
I don’t believe so.
Is anyone else having trouble with rolls from the mobile app not showing up in the campaign game log on the web browser?
Works for me
If you open the Game Log in the app and look at the top, does it say Send To: Everyone? Or Self?
everyone. we were trying to use the AboveVTT extension and it wouldn't show results there either unless we refreshed.
DDB does not make or support AboveVTT
i realize that but even with the extension disabled, it wasn't working correctly
It’s a 3rd party app - contact the developer of it for any support
i know it's 3rd party.
DDB can’t help you with any issues you are experiencing using it is what I’m getting at - contact the developer of AboveVTT if you’re experiencing issues.
i'm asking on here because i've contacted the developers of Above and they said it was a DDB problem due to a messaging disconnection
I don’t know how else to say DDB does not support AboveVTT so any issues caused by using a third-party browser extension that interacts with DDB functionality is completely on you and the developer of said extension.
Basically DDB can’t help you with it.
Is this an issue that happens when AboveVTT is disabled? If so, what exactly is the issue?
yes. it happens when its disabled and enabled. essentially, if i roll anything, say from my mobile app, it doesn't show in the web browser game log.
Yeah, if it’s ultimately the mobile app we’re talking about, I don’t see how AboveVTT would have any bearing on that.
Do other changes in the app show up on your PC? If you change your equipment or use a spell slot, for example.
I already have the Legendary Bundle, does that discount stack with the current 15% off sitewide coupon?
I believe so
can it be possible if we made two separate categories for pay to play look for DM and looking for Players pay to play because it's getting annoying even though I've put in do not message me if it's pay to play people can we sort this out 😡
It isn't giving me both discounts when I try and buy, so I'll hold off until I get some input from staff
The current sale is only on specific items. It may be that the item you’re looking at is not on sale, in which case you’d see only the 15% off from the Legendary Bundle.
Oh, I'm looking at the new Dragonlance book
Probably that isn't on sale since it's so new, d'oh
Yeah, preorders are not included.
What's Not Included?
Preorders, Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, and Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel are not included in this sale. In an effort to further support our friends over at Extra Life, we will not be including Extra Life products in this sale. There is already a separate channel for paid games: #paid-looking-for-game. If you don’t want to be contacted for paid games, you should state so in the “Opt In” section of the post template.
The mobile app
And yes
Same account and all
Having a separate channel for players looking for paid games would not resolve this; less scrupulous paid DMs would still ignore those people who have opted out and message them
What we recommend is that you report any DM that sends you an unsolicited message, then block them
ok
Hey, I want to buy the Player's Bundle because it's 15% off, but I can't seem to find bundles available on the mobile app. I prefer to buy it there because it automatically converts to my country's currency. Are bundles simply unavailable for purchase in the DDB app?
Bundles aren't available on the app, you need to purchase them through the site
Ok thanks
Sales aren’t generally available through the app either.
does anyone know why i have these 3 backdrops? (i have purchased acquisition inc and have the dragon of icespire peak adventures)
Are you a subscriber? Some backdrops come as monthly perks for being a subscriber.
All I can do is point you to the Subscriber Perks FAQ: https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/7747193085076
Some subscriber perks are character sheet cosmetics 'from the vault' (ie previously pre-order bonuses)
I keep getting this error when trying to save an encounter. Any ideas what the issue is?
I thought it might be having too many encounters, but I deleted a bunch, so that shouldn't be it
Hello, fellow geeks! I am a DM and I am creating a homebrew item for a wizard and part of what it does is give an additional spell slot and additional spells learned. How can I do that in my homebrew item creation? I'm stumped.
Last summer, they gave a selection of former pre-order perks to all users for free: 3 themes, 3 frames, and 3 backdrops.
Frames:
- BGDIA Nine Hells
- ERFTLW Spore Cloud
- VRGTR Ankhtepot
Themes:
- WDH Gold Dragon
- WDOTMM I Love Flumphs
- WDH Eye of Xanathar
Backdrops:
- XGTE XGtE 6
- WDOTMM WDOTMM 02
- ERFTLW ERFTLW 5
Do you get the same error in another browser, or on a other device?
Hi, Am I asking in the wrong place? Or is everyone up to their butts in alligators? Or is there no help for my dilemma 🙂
Granting extra spell slots and additional spells learned - I'd check out what the magic initiate feat does and see how that's configured. You can make a copy and tweak it to match what you need. For further homebrew help, maybe check in #homebrew as a lot of homebrewers hang out there and may be able to provide more suggestions on how to accomplish what you're trying to build.
I will note that if there isn't an official D&D thing that does similar to what you want then it may be more complicated or even impossible to accomplish with DDB's homebrew tools.
Thanks so much! I'll check out both the channel and the feat 🙂
How do I add a DC to a subclass? I’m trying to make a Rogue subclass and I need a DC of 8 + dex mod + prof
Unfortunately every device I've tried on
Check that the characters in the campaign you are associating the encounter to are complete - by complete, they should be viewable (so have race, class, and ability scores entered). That error would suggest that the encounter is having troubles saving as it cant calculate the difficulty as one or more characters are incomplete.
one, not the channel for this question, but-
two, an archdruid is just... a character who holds the title of archdruid, leader of a druidic circle. it's a flavor and history thing, not really a mechanical thing
I put it here because the other channels do not allow you to post pictures.
That is not a valid reason to post in the incorrect channel
We ask people stay on topic and only use channels (and their associated image posting privileges where they have them) for their intended purpose

Is there any way to set the knight variant of the noble background? It's autodefaulting to position of privilege and I can't find a button
pick the Knight background instead.
Do you mean the soldier background? Because that's for sure a different thing
no, I mean the Knight background.
SCAG
not even
Oh wait I was thinking of the SCAG knight
the Noble background has the PHB sidebar version of Knight... which is codified in the website as it's own background: Knight
Knight of the Order
Weird, because it still shows up on the page for the noble background
And I do not have an option to select knight
because that's where the variant rule is presented.
as long as you own the PHB, it should be there.
I would like to express annoyance at this one specific niche situation where the website lets me view content but doesn't let me use content
But yes thank you that cleared things up
Noble Background: https://www.dndbeyond.com/backgrounds/noble
Knight variant: https://www.dndbeyond.com/backgrounds/knight
I believe this is a strange edge case where the knight information only appears in the PHB version of the noble background
However, the site can't support modifying how content looks based on entitlements
Oh I'm sure there were reasons why it was coded the way it was and this probably doesn't come up a lot
If I worked there it's for sure one of the things I'd poke at tho. I've had other issues with backgrounds before
The new spelljammer backgrounds don't automatically provide you with the associated feats
That's because the system in general cannot automatically assign feats
That's not unique to the Spelljammer backgrounds
And I couldn't figure out how to set the spells for the magic initiate (cleric) feat, after manually adding it on phone
When you say phone, do you mean the app or mobile site?
The app
I don't believe you can on the app yet
But I think to manually add feats in general you have to do some chicanery that takes you to the mobile site anyway
I'm assuming this is something that will be looked into in the future, what with how One DnD is changing backgrounds?
I have no idea or information on that I'm afraid
Understandable
Thanks for the help
Actually while I'm here
Is there any way to remove an action from my list?
I've got psychic blades (dex) and psychic blades (strength) and I really don't need both
You can customise it to uncheck 'display as attack', but not remove it from your action list altogether
Excellent that's exactly what I was looking for
I'm.... assuming there's a way to undo that, once it disappears
Just in case
Yep, it'll still be listed in your general actions tab. You can click it, and recheck display as attack
Fix how?
Unarmed fighting style gives me a d8 on the damage dice, but martial arts overrides it and gives me a d4
I found options to customise the bonus damage if I wanted to but nothing that changes the actual dice size
I can clone it, so it's not an actual problem, but it's another one of those specific interactions
I don't think unarmed fighting style applies to bonus action attacks from martial arts/flurry of blows
But you can just make a custom action and specify the damage dice
Unarmed Fighting. Your unarmed strikes can deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier on a hit. If you aren't wielding any weapons or a shield when you make the attack roll, the d6 becomes a d8.
It doesn't not include it, but this probably isn't the place to get into minutia
Ah thanks, that's it! So even if a character in the campaign isn't complete but they're hidden from the encounter it causes this error?
Is there something on DDB to mark down that my alchemist has brewed an experimental elixir, and its effect?
I do not believe so, no
You could make a homebrew magic item with a single charge and include a list of the effects
thanks!
does anyone know if DDB has a way to set Sorcerer to use the varient spellpoint options in DMG pg288? right now i'm trying to jerryrig a system together by adding a "resource" field for Mana but would really love it if there was a way to make the game do the finicky stuff automatically
It does not support the optional rule yet.
any rumors' if it is coming down the pipeline?
There are plans, but D&D Beyond does not do ETAs for upcoming features.
Heya, I got a lil campaign with 6players on it, who like to keep thier notes secret from each other on dnd beyond is there a way to do that? Hide background/and extra?
I believe notes are only seen by the DM of the campaign and the character owner/player.
And I think backgrounds too?
I believe if you set the character to private only you and the DM can see it
^ Yeah I think that's the key.
Everything in the Notes and Description tabs can only be seen by the player and the DM.
Setting a character to private keeps the other players from accessing the sheet at all.
We had issues with even the DM not being able to see the notes and description before. Not sure if it's still happening, I'll have to ask
So it looks like if the DM goes through the link on the campaign page he can see it (and even edit it which is important), but if the DM uses the public character link those sections are greyed out
Even if you have your character set to Public
The Extras tab is also hidden from other players
Yes, that’s the expected behavior.
I think this gets hidden if no extras have been added, but I’m not sure.
It appears to be greyed out on the mobile web version, but visible on the desktop site
Right. Again, I believe that happens when no extras have been added. The same thing happens to the Spells tab when a character has no spells.
Can anyone tell me why i cant add Danse Macabre to my homebrew druid subclass? i have it added under "additional spell list", but i cant find it in the character sheet.
Am i missing something?
Do you own the material?
i do not, but it is shared with me
is your character in the campaign that the content is shared in?
aaah.. that was the problem. for some reason the content is not shared in the campaign i was trying.. but that was the issue, thanks
o7
I'm thinking of a potential fighters subclass that don't have to be evil, but they do have stereotypically evil connotations How about a Butcher subclass for Fighter? Focusing on debilitating strikes that bleed and flay the enemy. Don't have to be evil, but does have unpleasant connotations (similar to necromancer wizard).
You have the wrong channel; this channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond site, tools and services
Oh which channel is homebrew?
That link is not working
?changes
Don't worry, your favorite channels aren't gone! We have changed our server somewhat, and there are some channels that are now only available to certain roles. Head over to #880965682462875679 to grab yours!
Sorry, I should have been more clear. For the two characters in our campaign which both have extras, they don't show up on mobile but only on the desktop.
where can i read the new rules coming out as i just heard about the new rules around grappling and i want to have a better look at it
I'm trying to add a racial trait that gives one skill and one tool proficiency. I tried adding two modifiers, each being modifier: profency, modifier subtype: chose a skill or tool, but when I go to save it the page just refreshes and doesn't send me back to race page so I can save the whole change. All the required parts are filled so that cant be the issue and as expected when I go to make a character using the race the option doesn't show up
Make sure you aren't using any browser extensions that could be interfering.
I dont have any
This happens when you try to save what, exactly? The modifier?
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Just a question really.
Race such as fairy can choose to improve stat by 2 and another by 1. Or improe 3 stats by 1.
But dnd beyond allows u to put all 3 points into the one and same stat.
Im not missreading how it works am I? This is a ddb doing it wrong right?
D&D Beyond doesn't currently have the logic written into the character sheet to stop ability score stacking
As such, it allows you to attack ability score improvements, but expects the user to still follow the rules
Hi,
I have a question about subscriptions.
If I subscribe for a D&D Beyond Master Tier, does that means my whole party will benefit the unlock feats and histories ?
The master tier subscription allows you to enable content sharing in up to five campaigns. Anyone in those campaigns will have their purchased content shared with everyone else and vice versa
Subscriptions do not grant access to content by themselves
Yeee what i thoughrt. Tyty
Thx for your answer.
What kind of contents ?
Are we able to access the Arcane Tradition for an wizard for example. (All of them)
We already have french paper books 🙂
No, content sharing does not grant you access to content of any kind. It just allows you to share what you and your players own digitally on D&D Beyond
Thanks ! 😕
If you own the paper books, you can use DDB's homebrew tools to recreate that content for free.
Alternatively, you can buy a subclass by itself instead of the whole book.
Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
Not to my knowledge, no
The DM doesn't need to be the one with the master tier subscription
Anyone in the campaign can subscribe and enable content sharing and that will enable everyone to share purchased content with everyone else
The DM will maintain control over what compendium sources are shared with the players, but this will not override access to content you own yourself
This will also not stop content appearing in the character builder
For example:
Andi, Beth, and Charlie want to play
Andi creates a campaign and is DM
Beth owns the Player's Handbook and the adventure they want to play, Storm Kings Thunder
Charlie has a master tier subscription
Charlie enables content sharing in the campaign
Now everyone can access the Player's Handbook and Storm Kings Thunder
Andi doesn't want their players to read the adventure, so they disable compendium sharing for Storm Kings Thunder. Charlie can no longer read the adventure, but can still add the magic items from the book to their character
Beth can still read the adventure because she owns it
If you enable content sharing in that campaign; it's not automatic, you can enable it in up to 5 campaigns
This wonderful explanation should be pinned! 😀
I’m new to D&D Beyond, especially homebrewing, and I’ve created a subclass of the dragonborn called dragonoid. I want to make it so that based on what draconic ancestry they choose from the dragonborn trait, they gain an effect based off of that trait in the subclass. Is there any way to do this?
Why does it say "To: DM" if I pick to the "roll to self" option
Huh. Not sure. Are you the DM of that campaign so Self == DM?
nah
So I've tried installing the app on my phone and I'm running into a problem signing in. That being that I won't/can't use Google to sign in because my ddb account isn't set to the same account as my phone (I use different accounts for different things). My only other option is twitch, which I don't use period. Where's the option to sign in via discord or wotc?
there isn't one. you have to sign in via a google account, an Apple ID, or a twitch account.
Android devices can support multiple google accounts
I have four on my phone, the primary google account not being my D&D Beyond google account
D&D Beyond does not support logins beyond Google, Apple, and legacy Twitch
Those were less secure days
Well, I won't be using my phone for this then
As mentioned, you can add multiple google accounts to an android device, which won't override your primary device account
I have always been aware of that, I simply won't.
Thank you for the quick reply
It's largely because I'm moving away from Google/Gmail, btw. I don't like how they do things.
Well then your alternatives for using D&D Beyond will be Apple, or Twitch if you have already linked your Twitch account
I have neither nor.
I'm afraid those are the only three options available at this time
Hopefully in the future there will be an alternative, thank you again.
Can I ask for a list of original content that was made by D&D Beyond before it became WOTC official? Such as the Boomerang and Revenant Double-bladed Scimitar
I don't know that I'd call either of those "original content".
I believe all materials were based off of WoTC D&D as DnDBeyond was licensed to do.
They were technical necessities created in order to provide official content. The boomerang was needed to provide the storm boomerang, and the Revenant Double-Bladed Scimitar was needed to provide the Revenant feat.
But to answer your question, I think those two might be it. I can't think of any others.
There was the League of Legends crossover but that had a limited timespan and either/both license holders had DnDBeyond remove it after the licensing deal was up.
No sorry - Runterra
Thanks for the help!
Maybe a dumb question about content sharing but is it only the character builder that gets shared or will they have access to all the monsters and stuff too?
Asking because I currently own more books than my DM and I'd like them to be able to play with all the fun stuff
All listings get shared which includes monsters (they can be added to extras)
Also, compendium gets shared by default, but the DM can disable that
Wow you guys are great
I'm a little confused on how to work the Pact of the Blade weapon on Beyond. When searching myself people seem to be saying that weapons have an option to be selected as a pact weapon but I'm not seeing it.
Click on the weapon, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
Ahh, I see! Thank you, I'll give it a go.
is there a limit to how many versions of a homebrew you can create?
Oh, actually, it should be right below the Customize menu. No opening required.
Not that I’m aware of.
Ahh, I was assuming it was a property you had to give the item from the builder.
there’s a wierd bug where I can’t create any more versions of a race
What happens when you try?
Everything works normally until after I hit the confirmation to create a new version, when I do, the page reloads but I don’t see a duplicate of the current race that I can edit. Edit: it turns out I’m not the only one who had this glitch, I send support form to the support staff to see if they can do anything about it. Thanks a lot for your time!
That might also be because of invalid data.
You could be missing a required field or some of the text might not be long enough.
Hard to say for sure, I’m afraid. :/
Hey can some one help my account is not linking up with the discord bot
What happens when you try?
One more question about Pact of the Blade: If you have Improved Pact Weapon is the +1 added to the weapon you designate as a pact weapon by Beyond already, or are you meant to choose a +1 weapon when creating it?
And that’s the same name it shows here? jackbro9584#3328? Same last four numbers and everything?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account
It should be added automatically.
Alrighty, thank you!
My friend helped me getting it set up
Sorry, is that a yes or a no?
What Discord name does it show on that page?
For example…
I got it connected but do you know how to start a campaign in the app
Campaigns can currently only be created on the web site itself. You can do that here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/campaigns/create
Thank you
Hey sorry to bother again but can you play as a race that you have not bought the book for
Well, you can buy the race by itself without buying the book.
Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
Or if you’re in a campaign where Content Sharing is enabled and someone else has bought that race, you’d be able to use it in that campaign.
Or you can recreate the race from your physical book via private homebrew
There are also several from the basic rules.
How do i buy just a single character like a tabaxi
When you go to the marketplace, just open whatever book it’s in and you’ll find the option inside.
Tabaxi is here in MOTM, for example.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/mordenkainen-presents-monsters-of-the-multiverse
Thank you so much for you help i think i may be able to run a campaign with everyone on the app now
How do I prevent Acquisitions Incorporated spells from showing up in spells with character creation?
I have all sources checked for no
Does ddb have any easy way of tracking familiars?
See the extras tab in your character sheet view.
Thanks it's one of those things that doesn't work in the app and only works on the actual site
That’s how I did my celestial warlock’s psuedo dragon
Though, funny thing, you can use beyond to have an ANCIENT DRAGON familiar, like a gold dragon familiar
Not raw by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s there as an option
There isn't any way to hide these, as they dont fall under a specific content toggle, instead are always available if you have the content (like the PHB or Tasha's, etc.)
Alright, could you guys potentially make a filter for that? Or introduce an “AL legal” filter?
You can vote here for better control over what content is allowed during character creation.

Hey, I have a friend whose character sheet is bugged right now. They have a +3 to dex and therefore initiative, but when they took alert it shot them up to +14 initiative.
Not sure why but alert only gives +5, so it's weird. He doesn't seem to have any subclasses that interact with init.
It looks like something is giving PB to initiative. I can't see anything that might cause without having access to the actual build.
That looks like a homebrew version of Alert.
You’ll have to talk to whoever homebrewed it.
Right. It doesn't give the regular snippet. That's gotta be the problem.
Doesn’t have the PHB page number either.
For reference, the official one would be displayed like this:
But on this character, it’s just a name and nothing else.
thank you!
How would i set up an encounter in the app for my campaign
You can't make encounters on the app, you have to use the website
Is there a way that my player can fight the encounters that i make because i have made them i just don’t know how to import them in to the app
Encounters is currently a DM-only tool, even on the site. There isn't currently a player view.
But if a player view is something you'd like, you can vote for that here:

Not sure if this is the correct channel to ask but, since its been a while since WoTWC acquired Beyond, is there any talk about potencial codes coming on IRL books so we can add em to beyond? or anything of the sort?
They are testing physical + digital bundles with the upcoming Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen. There’s an FAQ here with more information:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1310-faq-one-d-d-rules-d-d-digital-and-physical-digital#bundles
Hi, hope everyone is doing well. I have a master account and have games in all my campaign slots. Is there any way to get additional campaign slots?
Not currently, no.
But if it helps: anyone with a Master Tier subscription can enabled Content Sharing for a campaign. It doesn’t have to be the DM or the person who purchased the content.
Once it’s enabled, everyone’s purchases get shared.
That does actually help. Thank you very much!
So hey....any word on why DDB changed the Hadozee? My character is the printed book, but if you select the race on someone else, it now mentions needing a reaction for the glide...is this an unannounced errata?
looks like they realised how broken it was and have fixed it
could also be a mistake!
nobody's said anything yet though
How do I play a Goblinoid? I cannot find the "volo" book which people refer to
You need to purchase Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse for the goblinoid races (goblin, hobgoblin, bugbear)
Oh, I see. Thanks! 😄
How do you select your armor on DDB character sheet to be “arcane armor”? Thank you for your assistance.
Also, wasn’t there a “Spelljammer” Chanel? If not, can we get one?
There's no way currently to flag armor as arcane armor for the armorers abilities
And there hasn't ever been a spelljammer channel
Hey! I've been looking and looking and looking for the answer to this and no one is actually communicating with me....
I've purchased over $80 worth of Classes/Races/Feats and for some reason none of my players can access any of it even though I enable sharing.
When I go to "manage sharing" it just shows a couple of books... not the whole $80 worth of stuff I've bought.
bumpo
There's no need to 'bump' after a minute
The sharing management option only displays compendium content
And for your players to access the individual items you've bought, they need to be making a character within the campaign and have the right content toggles enabled
They have done all of that
And their characters are in the campaign that you've enabled content sharing through?
Yerp.
I'm going to make them screen share with me to make sure they're toggling the right thing
Next thing to check is that they're entitlements are in sync; sometimes when you join a campaign with sharing, the access doesn't immediately update.
They can force that check by going here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
If they see a button that says "Sync my Entitlements" they should click it
Fab thank you. I will
Since my first post was ignored:
So hey....any word on why DDB changed the Hadozee? My character is the printed book, but if you select the race on someone else, it now mentions needing a reaction for the glide...is this an unannounced errata?
I'm trying to build a homebrew race on the site, how do I make it so there is the option to choose small or medium sized creature? is that even possible?
What happened to the steel defender? There used to be a stat block for it (tying to add to my extras on character sheet) but the entry seems to have been deleted. One of my other characters (built a few years ago) still has it...why can't I find it anymore?
In order to better display the steel defender information accurately, it was changed from a stat block to information embedded in the features and traits section
It should now be found under the battlesmith's features and traits
You can find the full errata here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1334-statement-on-the-hadozee
Just select “Medium or Small” for the size. Should be one of the very first fields.
fair I missed the link at the bottom...I was very confused xD
the overpowered gliding wasn't the offensive part
it was just also hit in this errata.
if you'd like some more information as to why the lore that was removed was considered offensive, there is currently a small discussion in general and over the past few days there have been a few rather lengthy ones I invite you to scroll up to and read through
Information on the change can be found in the PDF linked to by the above article. In order to prevent confusion for future readers the original comment has been removed.
Eye of Dave - someone homebrew that 😉

For some reason my DnDB app has stopped letting me download books. I'm trying to download the new Spelljammer book but it just stops and says "download failed" everytime I try
The Spelljammer download issue is known - I dont have an ETA, but the team are working on it. I'd recommend accessing via the website in the meantime.
I appreciate it 👍
Oh good just came here for the same issue regarding the downloads. Waiting it is!
Thanks!
hey. Can anyone help me with removing a homebrew feat which my DM then deleted?
What happens when you try to remove it?
Hey im trying to make a bludgeoning fineness weapon could someone help me
there is no option to remove it - it doesn't appear in the list when you look at managing feats
does anyone know a good free dnd map making website
please i need cuz my campaing is in 2 weeks
This channel is for help with the D&D Beyond services.
I'm sorry if this has already been asked but does anyone know if players can see each other's character sheets within a campaign? I'd like to add an npc character sheet to my party (to help me be able to build encounters more accurately) but I'd rather my players not be able to see her stats and abilities. Is there a way to make an npc character sheet private?
They can, and if your going to make npcs that don't use standard stat blocks and instead use character sheets, and don't want your players to be able to see them, I'd recommend making them in a separate campaign
You can always move characters between campaigns
but for encounter building can I build an encounter using players from more than one campaign? Or is it a one campaign per encounter sort of situation?
As for encounters, you can also just add a generic character of a given level, which will be included in the difficulty rating and other calculations.
I wonder why characters are able to view each other's sheets. It doesn't make any sense. Players keep secrets from each other all the time (pretending to be one race when they're really another, hiding abilities, etc). It seems weird that they can view each other's sheets whenever they want
is this true even if characters are set to private? never tested
it also should be noted that players cant see the complete character sheets of each other. stuff like backgrounds and backstories are not shared with other players on DDB
those things are are only accessible to the owner of the sheet and the DM
that's good at least. still doesn't help with pc's that try to hide their race or class, but it's a start
Early on in D&D Beyonds history, there were people arguing in equal volume for and against character sheet visibility. D&D Beyond chose the option to share information rather than hide it
Interesting! what was the argument for?
I guess it's good if someone has to step in for a player who has to be absent for whatever reason. But having a setting that allows sharing controls would work for that
Was it originally added through Manage Feats? If it was added instead through an ASI, you’ll need to go back there to change it.
I'm not affiliated with DDB/WoTC so this isn't authoritative in any way, but I think a good argument could be made that metagaming is a behavior best handled outside the "game" and so defaulting to letting everyone know what each character has and is capable of can help everyone play the game better together. And if something is supposed to be "unknown" to other characters, just remind the player(s) that they don't know about it if it does come up.
what is an ASI?
An Ability Score Improvement, granted through your class.
ah, nope it was through feats
If you selected this feat there, you’ll need to go back to the Class page in the character builder to change your selection.
People will show each other their character sheets to get help with things or so someone else can see what spells they have. D&D Beyond has always been intended to fit seamlessly with how people play D&D and so allows things like sheet sharing. As Dying mentioned, metagaming is something best handled at the table rather than through tools
Can you share a link to that character, then?
And which feat is the one that was deleted?
Boon of the Visage
Thanks. I can reach out beside the scenes and ask the team to take a look.
If this is caused by the feat being deleted, then worst case scenario your DM can un-delete it.
If they look for the feat here, there should be an option to Restore it.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-creations?filter-status=3
is there a way to make Magic Resistance work with the homebrew maker
I dunno how to set the advantage to only against spells
You can make a homebrew copy of something that already has magic resistance if you want to see how it was set up.
But I think it’s something like a Modifier with Type: “Advantage”, Subtype: “Saving Throws”, Details: “against spells”.
I cant do that as I do not own any of the books with a race with that trait
I bought the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount class bundle earlier today, I was charged, and the order is confirmed, yet I do not have access to either of the wizard subclasses, or the echo knight fighter subclass
Did you enable Critical Role Content for that character?
No, thatsp robably it
Looking for help with a homebrew. I'm trying to make an ability that gives the fighter an aditional 1d10 for their second wind. Making it 2d10+fighter level. How would I make that happen
You can't modify base class features with homebrew. You would only be able to put it in the text description of the ability
I have done that, but I thought there could be a way to boost it so that it would roll that much hp
You’ll need to add an Action any time you want to roll.
Put Die Count: 2, Die Size: 10, Fixed Value: 1, Activation Type: Action. Check “Display as Attack”, too.
Then save it, edit it again, and scroll to the bottom to find Level Overrides.
You’ll have to add an entry there to update the Fixed Value every time it changes — in your case, one for every level.
I assume you mean for Spelljammer updates in the app. It currently only happens for Android device that say “Retry Download”. The team is aware and working on a fix.
You betcha. Thanks tuna! ❤️
I assume there's no ballpark eta at the moment?
I’m afraid not. DDB doesn’t typically give time estimates.
I figured 🤣 then I'd just know how long to wait before I pestered again lol
Appreciate the update!
What exactly are you trying to do?
Trying to make a Half-Dwarf custom race for my Homebrew campaign, and want to get +1 to Constitution, Charisma, and an ability score of your choice, but how do I do that? I don't understand by pointing on that "Fixed Value" question mark helper.
For a +1 to CON, just add a 1 for Fixed Value.
Thank you!
Then save that and add two more just like it, except with “Charisma Score” and “Choose an Ability Score” as the modifier subtypes.
Ooh okay, thanks again!
make a hb subclass
And what kind of help did you need? Where are you stuck?
i don’t know how to even start with it. Like short description vs regular description? Where to put feature you get at respective levels and such
I find it is often helpful to clone an existing thing of the same type you want to make to look at how it all goes together.
☝🏻 That’s 100% the best way to figure things out. Find something official that does what you want, then you can peek inside and see how it was set up.
Anyway, Description is where you’d put the full intro text for your subclass. That will show up when viewing the subclass page.
The Short Description shows up in the character sheet, but it can be the same as the regular Description if you want.
You can add subclass features after you’ve saved the basic info first.
