You know, I’ve never understood why she’s like this. It’s like everything I do is wrong. I wake up every morning wondering if today’s the day she’ll finally leave me alone, but nope. I try to stay quiet, stay invisible, but somehow, she always finds something. My grades, my clothes, the way I walk, even the way I breathe. God forbid I say something back—that’s when it gets really bad. Like I’m not even a person, just some punching bag she can use whenever her day doesn’t go her way.

She says she loves me sometimes, like in this weird, twisted way. But how do you love someone and then turn around and break them? I don’t get it. And don’t even get me started on the lies she tells everyone else. Oh, she’s all smiles and hugs when other people are around, like she’s some kind of saint. Meanwhile, I’m standing there, pretending everything’s fine, because what am I supposed to do? Who’s even going to believe me?

Sometimes, I just sit in my room and wonder if it’s me. Like, maybe I’m the problem. Maybe I’m not good enough, not smart enough, not whatever-it-is enough to deserve kindness. But then I think, no, screw that. I’ve seen other moms. They don’t act like this. They don’t throw things or scream about how much of a "burden" their kid is. They don’t... hurt them.
