I didn't expect the shields to operate differently, however many people did not expect to log into find their 12 hour shields gone and their base empty because they didn't move out of a +20 level system for an event they didn't know was going to start. I would have been in the same boat if I had not logged in an hour before the event started to see everyone moving.... IT WAS NOT ANNOUNCED IN THE IN GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS... therefore you can not expect people to know...

I attacked a level 39 base (smallest I seen come over), obviously my one million Vidar didn't get a shot off... Zero points, Attacked a level 39 ship - same results... Sat unshielded defending my base against 3mill + ships, of course I lost being only level 27 but I did take them down to 30% before losing... zero points... So like 90% of the other servers I shielded and turned the game off until the event was over....

I was on here griping yesterday about this… I recommended fixing the scoring mechanics to discourage punching down ops level bracket for ship v ship, and making it easier to acquire the conduits during prep (most of the SMS were spend/domination and we just had a whole slew of those happen… so it made it hard to complete for many.)

That said, I actually enjoyed it once I was able to transfer to the other server and participate.

The rewards could definitely be better.

The balance was off on ours. The people we were set against may have had similar power TOTALS, but they had many more Ops 45s than our server. I'm thinking they have fewer people which created an average disparity.

@pseudo rune incursion wasn’t horrible, but definitely a lot of adjustments need to be made. The pvp sms incentivizes people to not send scoring ships themselves, and just die on opponent ships that score for the loss, for example.

<@&509690795536941056> beyond previous feedback about Incursions having exactly the same problems with too many ships battling in one system, the schedule for incursions is incredibly RL-unfriendly.

A 24-hour block event only suits a limited demographic. It doesn’t suit a lot of players in my alliance, who are otherwise really dedicated to the game. TC was already stressful for having a fixed schedule, but at least it’s an hour at most.

Having events at the same time across four nights would make more sense.

Scheduling a bunch of other events, particularly mining, at the same time as incursions makes no sense. People have limited time, combining a full day with a completely immersive event makes no sense.

Having 4 6-hour SMS events in 24 hours is just plain nuts, shows no respect for people who need to have RL/game boundaries, like health care workers on 8-hour shifts.

• 128 all relocated to low lvl systems and are all shielded and not coming out, even tho they are online.
• They are not going to Yoruba, so we can't finish the SMS. I guess they are not going to give up points for the main event and pvp XSLBs.

There's nothing wrong with 128's strategy. We have more and bigger players than them, so this is the way for them to try to win. But at the same time it's a very boring event for us.

I confess I hadn't read the stuff on this event as I assumed I could wait till it started. Less than impressed to log on and find my shield switched off and being raided by whales from another Galaxy. Thankfully I was both in time to avoid serious losses and to logn8n here and pick up the rule about moving to a sub 20 system. But really Scopely ? Overriding shields ? And over riding them to benefit Whales ? How many players will you lose when inevitably people are caught out. Dreadful development. Dreadful. Opt in not opt out is a key principle.

Offer an opt-in to the whole incursion. If you opt-in, you can't shield for the 24h, so u can't just bubble and hide during defenses. If you opt-out, you don't participate in any of the events, but u also won't get raided.

I think an easy way to implement it dev-wise is to give a 24h peace shield to everyone who didn't opt-in.

The excomps I bought thinking they functioned as standard exocoms, but they instead auto applied and I ended up loosing out on several being as I just bought what I thought I'd need over the 24 hours upfront.

The event also assumes Server relations are good enough that we'll play as a team. Ours aren't. Our hated mega alliance is playing AGAINST the rest of the server helping the invaders. They are ahead by a three to one margin already and our server has already given up.

Just combine the two offenses and two defenses. Double up the points needed, and double up the rewards. Requires the same amount of work, but people would be able to sleep.

System level does not equal player level. They had to draw the line somewhere. 20+ means Azha, Kelper, Opla are vulnerable positions which are known havens for folks.

5 hours into EU incursions and whale alliances from the home server are using it as an opportunity to farm their own server while the shields are down. I've just been hit by someone 14 levels above me while in a open system for an hour to ' give it a go '. So I can port away but who wants to be hit and destroyed in a single hit ? I've observed my PvP system for quite a bit. Woefully mismatched. Even with my best ship I'd need to sacrifice it 17 times in a four hour period to finish the event. Why do I want to spend hours having my best ship blown up 17 times by a whale for one event. And the too wide bracket means that's my only choice. It's another very off putting aspect of it.

No problem with it being a pvp event but very little thought has gone into it. I'm all for pvp, but also like to see consideration for those who don't want (or cant) take part. Too many problems with this format that were known in advance. Biggest 2; removing shields and ridiculous lvl brackets. Plus issues; people with missing tokens and time of events that can disadvantage one server.
Simple ideas; Create totally safe zones, don't automatically remove shields (do it on on natural count down or if player ports) and fix the brackets! No point in a lvl 38 going to system with 45s+ lurking. Make it fair!

In all seriousness - if you look at the side events today : 1) Domination for BP - done while shielded. 2) ATA - Done while shielded. 3) Swarm - the level 17 systems are empty and they count the same as the 30s or 40s. Literally took me 60 seconds to get that done.

So those that didn’t want to partake in incursions, they didn’t really miss out on anything but mining. And you’ve got 29 other days in the month to do that 🤷🏻‍♂️

Another issue is the place of less engaged casual players in the ecosystem. Lots of folk are going to log in, find their shield removed and they've been wiped. Needless upset and some will quit. But they are part if the ecosystem.

The bottom line is that incursions, at least as they are, will kill the game. The majority of players are not interested and are upset their game play was interrupted for the minority that want PvP and bullying. As many have said... it's not fun just to be food for whales. The forced play aspect was the icing on the cake. Yes, you could theoretically opt out. It didn't really work in practice and kept most from their dailies. Terrible event. For those that do want to play, it needs to be opt in and on neutral ground. That gives each type of player to do what they enjoy.

Non PvP players have reported being hit/harassed when just hostile grinding for battlepass events and/or faction dailies. I saw players from the other server just systemically blow up all miners in a system. Stuff like that, players who opt out can't really opt out

Seek out those that are in your ops bracket. I am ops 44. During my incursion I was rocking the other server, we had an ops 49 and 56 drop in to our specific pvp system. Just repair and send back. Had an absolute blast. Last 20 minutes they found my base and had an ops 57 with a Sanctus rip it open. Relo, repair and send back. 🤷🏻‍♂️ what else can you do? It’s the same tired excuse over and over. Every event is the same, mine this. Fight that hostile. Collect this. Go here. Incursions, while similar, had a completely different element in that there were no repercussion to letting loose and hitting everything you could. Test crews. Change things up. Hit high. Hit low.

What if this evolves in to a capture the flag type event or cross sever territory event?

All it takes is one thing to take a player out of a game, miss a pre-event, and suddenly 50% of the event is behind a paywall. If the event launched with a way to earn the tokens (tutorial / gift chest) then they'd have access to the full event then and there.

It is one day, but also during BP, which Scopley didn't seem to take into consideration. A lot of grief I saw was from those who couldn't complete their daily BP, which breaks they're overdrive. Perhaps a simple adjustment to that to allow for a missed day would suffice.

It is pretty clear who was invading (though it did take a second for me to realize my server was the one with rings in the invading server).

Damage dealt not counting in defense kinda sucks, as well as while your server was attacking you score 3x. It should be something like if you perform an action on your server, score. Do the action on opposing server, get a double bonus, regardless of which phase is active.

The shield drops were well communicated with many lines used and plenty of time to plan. I am assuming the intent was to strongly encourage folks to funnel to the non-faction space, making it easier to find engagements.

And the opt out wasn't really an opt out, so that argument is dead in the water. PvP can be fun in the right circumstances. Kind of like TC where the lower players are bombarded with 10m plus ships, no amount of crewing or strategy will make a huge difference. Just not fun. When they are closer, it can be fun. Forced is never fun.

I disagree - it's very tight right now, when the building is just released and people are trying to take it all the way up to their ops level from scratch. In the long run, even marginal participation will bring in a few thousand parts per incursion, which at 1-2 runs a month is basically a building level - and most people aren't gaining an ops level a month.

If they don't want to PvP and just do their dailies, they can't because the whales are waiting to hit them just because in this event. Just toxic.
