Clash of clans has balances mechanics in place that make the game fair between paying and none paying players, paying players buy power so they can always win raids on bases of none paying players, but because they have more power they raid less resources to counterbalance the system and make the game fair.
None paying players dont get stomped on so they dont quit.
Paying players can raid multiple players bases for resources rather then steal everything from one player so they still get what they paid for.
EVERYONE WINS. This is why supercell has been so successful.

As I didn't have the 50 parts for the jellyfish last event I decided to forgo buying it last time. Now you've removed the jelly event so I can't farm it and it's not worth the price of £20 to buy it at lvl 21.

Just trying to understand why they would discourage players from buying it by offering the cheaper free farm option but then remove it from sale so you can't but it if you don't have 50 parts then put it back on sale so many months later that it's overpriced. Makes no sense at all.
Before the first jelly jelly event you could farm the parts from drop over chests, then they removed that option... I guess I'll never own a joy then.

Some systems re-spawned missions and not all told you that a JF part was up for grabs. There was one that depending on the choice you made you could either end up with a JF part or not . It was donate X amount mission. Basically check the rewards of the mission, if there is an option and complete any mission with a mysterious reward.
I was at 50 before the Dominion event popped up.

I wish I could remember, sorry, there is a small possibility I just missed the missions I believe to be re-spawned 1st time round, but I don't think so, close to 100% sure these were new missions that hadn't been in the system 1st time.

Missions start in the new lvl18 systems. Once done the next series in the spur systems off opla, azha and kepler. Once theyre done next ones can be found in the lv20 and 21 systems heading to faction space off same 3 systems. Thats all there is. You should have 18 northstar bps when done.
I also found a new mission in rigel called Dark Moon...but could have just been one i missed.

there aren't more missions. Try and finish those two, by levelling up and using multiple ships to complete them. It is a grind, but as long as you have the missions you will eventually get there.

Actually there have to be more missions. 25 parts were from dominion, 25 from bought package. 2 more were from event, will get 2 more from research event today. That leaves around only 15 pieces found on missions while people say they found at most 50 on missions

Horizon def better. Devs just wanted to add a low level rare miner so all the jellyfish spenders have another pack to buy. Yes....the $100s spent to max those jellies, only to have them become obsolete quite quickly is very funny. On the upside...horizons have a very long research tree...so the north star will be useful for a long time. Envoys much cheaper to build, upgrade, tier and repair though.

When this event came up my northstar materials were Para, Trit, and Dil. It went away after about 10 min and came back 20 min after that with G3 gas, ore and crystal.

It's speed might be worth it in a long haul.. but with 5k cargo. I bet my envoy will have mined more when you factor in having to unload the northstar every hour or two

There is a bug on the North Star, they said on the Official-announcement:
"However, to maintain its speed, The NORTH STAR has sacrificed some of its Cargo limit."
But the North Star only have 4k cargo for a gain that is less than 25% of increase in speed compared to the Envoy but have 75% less cargo capacity ( at Tier1).
How is that "some of its cargo capacity" ? That likes "most of its cargo capacity".
Add to this that it only protect 300, that look like an insult for all player who bought the ships.
Should t the ship do better that the fortunate at least?

You can't really compare it on a total cargo to total cargo basis. How often do you ever fill up your survey ship's cargo while mining? I would wager never, not even once before you either recall out of fear or have your ship hit for resources. So in reality, you are roughly earning around the same resources per run with either ship, but the North Star will get you to that actual cap faster.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're new. When you recall, you carry the entire load you have....not just your protected cargo. The protected is how much you keep if your ship is destroyed.
So if you go out and mine 4k resources with either the Envoy or the North Star, and then recall, you've earned the same amount. You will never, ever mine 100k resources with an Envoy before returning. As soon as you are at most a few thousand above protected it will be destroyed.

Heres a tip - start mining before the event starts, that way you will have a head start. Ofc if u move or get destroyed your are SOL but if u dont, it will help you a lot. Tritanium appears to be best, lots of nodes. Dil is too competitive

I am level 18 and there is a Northstar event where I can earn Northstar blueprints. If I were to obtain 90 blueprints at my current level would I be able to build and use a Northstar now? It's a 3 star ship but it's also a survey type ship so does unlocking Grade 3 Ship Research under the combat tab matter? Unlocking Grade 3 Ship Research requires Shipyard level 19.

the mining event is a little lop sided. The way I calculated it, you cant get all the BP for the northstar so you will have to find BP in the wild. The next question is if any missions with NorthStar BP will disappear once the event is over or lock like the jelly ones did. I never did one of the missions and now im stuck at 1 short of a jelly because of it.

@tepid wyvern iirc you got 20 BP for fully completing the event the first day, and 10 BP/day afterwards. That's 90 BP in total, and there's missions that give the BP as well.

I was on a work trip so may have missed the first day of the event. I seem to be on track for 87/90 blue prints. I cannot find any more missions to do. 3pts feels like I missed a mission somewhere. I am not sure how many I got from missions. I cannot find any more missions to do (I have done lots, but did not count). No more missions from the new 3 systems in neutral space. Hunting to see if any starting from other locations, but they don’t seem to be in that series.

Afaik you got 18 Out of missions, 10 each day (crate and event). That's 6 days and the quests. In sum 78/90 plus the day one event. Day one was - happily to be corrected 22 shards max. So it was possible to Miss a day inbetween but Not the first.

i bought a pack not knowing the mining events would stop and the chests would go away. I've complained to support but of course no good reply. Since then I've seen the chest pop up randomly and I can use it(when the countdown is done), however their response is I shouldn't be seeing it anymore..

@zinc talon What level are you? Typically rare materials only show up round lvl 26 or so and it is also based on other factors (spend, other packs purchased, etc.). THe NS pack shows 4 rare crystal for me and ore and gas.
They may be capping lower level players to prevent them from attaining an OP ship too early on.

Players cannot get the 3* rares until level 26 and higher. NS packs for higher level players offer different upgrade mats than the same packs for lower level players. Total BS!

If I could buy those mats to upgrade NS, I would. But do you want an ops13 flying an 80k NS? Got to be some balance, and I think they attempt to put curbs on coiners by not allowing purchase of these higher level mats. The 40k jelly already feels op for my level.

Well, I think it is because they are trying to enforce progression barriers just like they do with other ships and research. They do the same thing in other games where they will not offer packages to a player because of their level. THey also are going to give the advantage to players who have progressed through and paid for certain packs and research.
E.g. if you got your Kehra to lets say 150k.
and then the NS comes around and a lvl 19 is able to progress it to 250k

If I could buy packs today that had all of the mats to max my NS, I would. And at ops13, a max NS is ridiculously over power. There is where I think this helps balance things for f2p players; I can’t become too OP just by spending.
Legally I’m just saying that multi billion dollar companies negotiate preferred pricing all of the time. Nothing anywhere obligates my to sell my products or services at the same rates or price to all customers. There are very specific things you cannot use as a basis for pricing discrimination, but it’s not all the things.

At higher levels, relative gains are lower versus the same 100 spent at a lower level. My 100 at ops13 goes way further to pump me up than 100 at ops23, even when you factor in better mats. IMO

There's a been a few people on my server who figured out the approach. They bought the NS pack, built it but smartly let the timer run. This game is about patience. That kept the non-NS event running so they got their full second set of NS blueprints with a day or two to spare. Getting to double dip now with two NS' cleaning up the NS event missions.
