The arena matching is completely ineffective. One whale with a Vidar Talios one level above everyone else with the speed crew is wiping the table of everyone in our group. So few people are playing, we keep getting matched to that same group over and over again. This is crazy. Not enough people, impossible matching, and it's nothing but a boring waste of time. I think in the 10 or 20 of these we've played, we've only had one that was well matched and that one was fun.

With how bad this matching engine is, it’s absurd that the losers of a match lose rank. Winning and losing is all about luck, I know right when we match whether or not we will win or get stomped.

For instance, I was running a group with ops 58, 57, and 64 and we kept being matched against 66, 66, 59. There’s no way we ever stood a chance.

Fix the matching engine or give the losers a small positive gain in rank as well, there’s no skill in most of these matches right now.

Just throwing it out there, these arenas would be much better if server wide, only 1 lvl each side of the starter and three to a match both sides. Plenty enough for continuous matches that would be far closer in power, researches and ships than what we have now.

This event has nothing to do with alliances in the ranking system of the faction store or personal ranking of the players, why it’s confined to alliances escapes me. Several ppl in several alliances can’t join because of a lack of players available, even with the 7+/- ops lvls that can join on each side of the starter. This also is the single major cause of the terrible matchups that people are complaining about.

As it is now, players who can’t join arena in their own alliance are forced to join other alliances to even participate and can only do that when real alliance events and arcs are not running at the same time or they risk losing rewards from those events.

C’mon Scopely, get it together, who makes these new events harder and more complicated than it has to be…

That Matchmaking-System will not work, so long we have these 3vs3 or 5vs5 with different lvl of players in the squad! It will work 1vs1! But not in 3vs3 or 5vs5! That game must have a lvl cap like in World of Warcraft! When you reach it, you can entry the arena for pvp! Scopely should send their Developers to Blizzard for learning, how to build a proper pvp-system for that arena-event!

I did 8 arena matches yesterday for a total of 5 wins and 3 losses. On one of the losses we had was against a team we should have beat on paper. We had a 49 and a 57 and myself at 53. They had a 53 a 50 and a 46....and whooped us in tactics. They were flying all over the place. They were very well organized. Out of all 8 matches, we only got one that seemed off power wise. We had the same group as mentioned before but they had a 67 and a 64. Overall It was a good time and we had a lot of fun.

Question for the hive mind. Regarding the "Nightmare Nexus: Borg Armadas - SLB" event, points are scored based on damage done (I was able to confirm this via battle log). This suggests that points are limited to a little over the total health (shield + hull) of the armada target (plus whatever overkill is scored on the shots that take down the shield and actually destroy the target). Am I missing anything, or is this assessment correct?

See that nifty little tool tip icon down below, looks like a lower case i that's circled? Fairly universal, hit those almost anywhere, not just in STFC, and it's gonna tell you stuff about the things. In this particular case, scoring mechanics of the current war room. Hit that button more often and on more screens and you'll find the need to ask becomes less as you end up acquiring the answers to many of your questions.

Why is Defensive Ops: All Out Defense even an event? Attackers get nothing for sending a ship there to fight except a repair bill so no one finishes this.

It's a paired event with All out Attack. One server gets one, the other gets the other. Both sets of pvp players will end up on the same server.

It's a way to finish the event, but there's enough pvp at raids that most probably won't need to use the specialized systems.

Everyone is so focused on not losing their ranking, ignoring that the Lv56 is going to get to a higher ranking than you, either by beating you or beating someone else. You may as well take the L and at least get the credits and event points.

Well.... there is no event for the arena....you only do it to gain tokens for the terran rep and credits bundle in the faction store....but if the pairing is 90% of the time this unbalanbced and you loose, this said bundle has extremely low rewards compared to a higher rank....
Last week I lost all my fights and dropped 3 ranks and it was a hugh difference in terms of terran credits and rep I gained last week compared to the week before.

I wouldn't care so much about my rank if the impact on the faction store would not be so large. But if it stays like this most of this faction store will be unachievable like forever

The main thing I'm aiming to get (and probably a lot of other people too) is the FKR credit efficiency favour. Needs rank of Bronze 1(G4), and then needs 12k of the Terran credit things. At my current rep level I'd need to open 60 chests for a cost of 18k arena credits(single pulls daily), which is either 18 wins or 45 losses.
Getting the wins/losses would be fine bar the part of going on a massive loss streak and falling down the rankings, it feels too easy to fall down ranks compared to the accessibility of climbing up ranks, especially considering that the main factor is basically just "my wallet is bigger than yours", rankings would make sense if there was any form of skill involved.

Once you get to a certain rank you can come up against anyone of any Ops lvl, thats the way the system works or higher Ops player would never find a match in the higher ranks, every Ops bracket is going to have a limit on the rank they can achieve. At 50-60 it is likely Gold unless you get boosted

Until every big Ops gets out of bronze and silver quicker these match ups will keep happening

Well you'd have double shots, plus basically all of them would be crits, and you have the crit multi from HB, and the massive increase in iso dmg. So you'd have increased your total dmg 3 or 4 times(if not more). Thus you'd have probably won the fight.

Depends on Court of Q as well, given that will reduce crit damage, which will make a huge difference, plus primes as well.

That's the point though, there is a limit on how crewing, ships, ops and research will help when you are fighting people much higher than you. Had plenty of matches fighting ops 66+ with Akiras, Titans, Minervas etc, a G5 rare isn't going to touch them, and yet Scopely continue to bury their heads in the sand with the terrible match making. I mean based on what you are saying you are saying a player that only has G4 ships can be G5 epic ships? There was match with people in 40 ops fighting people over 60 ops, explain how they are supposed to fight?

And in the situation that you found yourself in, in the shot you posted changing your crew could have massively changed the outcome of the fight. There's been people at ops 56 using G5 rares to kill G6 ships. So yes a G5 rare could and can kill a G5 epic.

The pieces you'd need to win that matchup aren't cheap, and shouldn't be the norm. Even more, matchmaking isn't as fair as you expect it to be right now. Mismatches will occur while higher level players are in the lower level ranks. It'll take time for them to win out, and into their proper rank.
